The formula for success in showbiz, according to a Queen Been. And although the whole world laughs and jeers at her brain dead products (trust me, I am one of the loudest), she laughs her way to the bank, a millionaire multiple times over. Yes, a lot of posts have mushroomed in this forum, analyzing the so called trp disaster. I hate the I told you sos in my life...and god forbid I become one. Anyways, the closest I came to criticism was yesterday. I actually made a post titled...RR..lighten up please!! But when saw the awesome response in our forum, hung my head in shame, thinking me and my weirdness, and promptly deleted the matter. Nevertheless, didn't write anything appreciative either. I have a huge gang of avid TV watchers on my doorstep, my whole crazy family. Just wanted to post the reactions of two members.
My mom in India...I was raving about the show to her...she watched it..."Why don't you watch something wholesome?!!" (Mom...are u kidding me...there can be nothing more wholesome and healthier than hottie sa. A prime specimen of Manhood!!) But as I valued my life and didn't want to hear a lecture on morality that would last me a lifetime, I refrained from drooling. "Yeh sab dekh ke dimaag kharaab hota hai. All they do is either kill or cry. Not good!!" Needless to say, I was so miffed with her, I didn't call her back. (didn't help, as if it ever does ..sigh!)
My surgeon aunt in Charlotte...she is the intellectual modern brigade...we kind of share the same tastes..."Gosh...I have been trying to watch the show you mentioned. Honestly, it gives me a headache. I have enough stresses...at the end of an exhausting day, when I sit down to watch mindless TV...it has to be a stress buster. Not a stress giver. I need something that makes me think, dream, laugh and cry. I haven't even smiled once in a week, forget laugh! It's too heavy! And at times too dramatic like those hindi movies!" Heartbreak!!😭
To make a long story short...All agree the leads are gorgeous and terrific actors...but currently are of no use. Secondly, its too heavy duty...no lighter moments of family bonding, or crazy friendships, love ... humor or smile...too dry. In short, its not a feel good show...but a feel bad show for now. When you sit down to watch it, you actually know all you are gonna do is cry and cringe. And at the end of a busy day, viewers don't wanna do that.
I know I will be hung and quartered for saying this, but that's an honest opinion from two very diverse quarters. I am an avid multiple watcher..and geeta ki kasam love it to the core. For me, it works (and how) but as I see it..its like a marriage. For any long lasting and enduring relationship, you have to make certain compromises. The story the cvs want to share, might have to be diluted, or honestly be told in a different way, more lighter, more enjoyable way, in order to last. Or be totally like 24, make an awesome show, tell the story you want to and TRPs be damned!! As I see it even movies have two different categories, its for a filmmaker to decide, whether the critics award or the popular category, is the ultimate aim.

I completely understand that perspective too. We being fans of either of the actors are watching the show. But the actual story has not started. Hence the initial episodes might be out of place. It will take time to gradually come to base. The background is important for further interaction. Its kind of slow.

Thoda vakth dho by next month end we should get much better a reaction. I would like to honest, I am waiting for the real action to take place too. Rather we all are. The performances are amazing. I am enjoying that. I only fast forwarded one episode till now this week.

Too soon too conclude about trps. Every show has to under this situation.

I get what you mean but we ought to remember that it was inspired from Othello. And it would be so wrong to say that Othello had no fans or that Shakespeare made a mistake by writing the play. Macbeth was even more gloomy but myself loved it.

Anyhow, I love serious stuff. I don't remember when was the last time when I sat down to watch a comedy... so I am loving every bit of this show.

And by the way, the scenes between Aman and Rudra always work as comic relief for me. I love their scenes!

yup...just keeping my fingers crossed. Its a fact that the aunties and uncles we tend to laugh at, do rule the roost. Heres hoping once the real love story kicks in...the same audiences will realize its worth. 👍🏼

If we are talking about the Bard, Othello is one of his psychological masterpieces. But then, if we are talking about popular mass appeal, its a different story altogether. I am not saying that the show is a mistake, just saying for now it has a niche audience. It they care about the TRPs, then the audience base has to be extended and some more included. In order to do that, some changes will have to be made. If not, the selective audiences, like you and me, will still relish and appreciate.

I obviously understand the commercial part of any show. Let's say it's the sad bit. I obviously want the TrPs to increase because I want RR to have a long life. However, I am also afraid that what now seems to be so artistic will become a brass door handle shown on every other channel. So see it's a double edged sword. At the moment, I am watching RR because I love everything in it. I hope there never comes a day when I end up watching RR just because it's a Sanaya show like some of the previous ones.

I wasn't surprised at all with the drop because last week feels like a filler atleast for me, story only move forward with Bindi death. I think TRP should go up next week.

The dismal shows that come on TV are such a regressive nightmare. That's the reason I have stayed away for years now. So, I know exactly what you feel. Its a very fine balance, a two edged sword. Always a challenge to win over the classes and the masses. But we have proof that a few good men have managed to do the same. For now, its early days, so just keeping my fingers crossed. My only aim through this post was to share some genuine feedback, in the hopes that someone from team RR gets the message across.

Why would you be hung 😆 Sorry missed your post yesterday , else would have pucca replied ..I like how you write ..
I agree wholeheartedly with you ...my probelm is I am loving this edgy dark love story which is extremely intense 😆I think I have started liking such shows ..earlier liked EBI , now also looking forward to Daag ( based on khoon bhari maang , revenge etc ) ...what does that make me 😆 A border line psycotic ...
I don't think colours can afford another 24 , critically acclaimed but a poor earner ...so I am afraid my friend, it will have to be diluted ...what a pity ...
