Anyways ... U know whenever I write a sad chapter - I end up with extra LIKEs 😆. Perhaps , I should continue in this streak for a while ; what say😉?
CHAPTER : 14.1 :
... and they lived HAPPILY EVER AFTER , Uday looked up from the book and saw that Udita was fast asleep ... with her mouth wide open. Careful not to wake her , he tried closing her mouth , by raising her lower jaw with his finger. As soon as he removed his finger ... her mouth sprung open again - and she let out a loud snore. Uday suppressed a smile, kissed her on the fore-head : Good night my Jungli Baby ... sweet dreams!
The last 2 days , were very confusing for the child ... firstly, her mother was not with her; secondly - when Unnati Buasa took her to see her mother, then Manyata would only hold her and cry; which made Udita cry too! Also - her father was giving her some new things to eat and drink; which upset her tummy. All was not well in her little world ... and normality would not be returning anytime soon.
After Manyata had miscarried ... Uday's perfect world shattered. Her "mistake" proved to be a very costly 1 and Uday had decided then and there; that he'd make Manyata pay with all she's got! The only thing that was on his mind was REVENGE ... he'd make Manyata suffer ... and the only way she'd suffer; would be if he kept Udita away from her.
When Unnati told him that Jai took Udita to the hospital to visit Manyata - he was livid. He had raced to the hospital to make sure their "meet" did not happen; but by the time he got there - something changed ... Uday remembered that he grew up without his mother. Could he let his daughter grow up without HER mother? No! The answer was NO. Udita was extremely attached to him ... but the truth was ; she couldn't live without her mother.
When Manyata left Udita and went to Australia - the child developed a nasty fever. Whilst Manyata was in hospital; each time Uday took to feed Udita ... she'd say : Mamma - sick! , and get really sad. She even had trouble sleeping; which is why Uday resorted to reading the girl, bedtime-stories.
How ironic that the story Uday chose ; was of a Prince , his Princess and their son & daughter. In the story - they had a happy ending ... in reality - happy endings did not exist! Uday stood in the balcony and stared at the flickering stars , as he decided the future for himself and for his "family".

Manyata was asleep, when she thought she heard Uday's voice. She sat up on the bed, but all she heard was the nurse saying : Sorry Sir ... allowing you in - would mean BREAKING HOSPITAL RULES! She sank back down in her bed , dejected. Her mind was playing tricks on her , she figured.
My wife suffered a miscarriage dammit ... I need to be with her! , Uday yelled and barged into Manyata's ward. Manyata tried to get out of bed, but Uday quickly stopped her. Both shared a teary eye-lock before Uday wrapped her in his arms. The nurse witnessed the scene , and slowly walked away ... hoping that no-one saw her "bending the rules" for the couple.
Uday sat at the edge of the bed, whilst still holding onto Manyata; as she cried her heart out. Our Baby is gone Uday! Our Virat is gone , she said between sobs. Uday fought back his own tears, as he kept rubbing Manyata's back, trying to comfort her. I'm sorry Uday - this happened because of me!
He cupped her face and made her look into his eyes ... This is NOT your fault, Princess. Remember what I told u when we had to swim for our lives ... "IF WE'RE MEANT TO HAVE HIM - THEN HE'LL BE JUST FINE!" , both said together. Uday wiped away the tears from her face ... I guess , we were NOT meant to have him! , he said in a whisper.
Uday got into bed with Manyata and she placed her head on his chest ... still weeping silently. Sshhh Princess , enough now! Don't blame yourself ... I don't! Really Uday - you don't blame me? No Princess. Then why did u not come to see me? I'm sorry Princess - I should've been here for you ... I was distraught and I was angry. I didn't want to see u , in case I said something which I'd regret later. Manyata tightened her grip around Uday: I thought u hated me for what happened ... that's why u chose to be away from me! Hate you? Princess - I could NEVER hate you ... you're my life! I love you. Manyata gave a weak smile - satisfied with Uday's answer.
Do u think he's happy where he is? I don't know Princess ... but I hope he is. Do u know what I dreamt? , Manyata started telling Uday, the small bits that she remembered about her dream. If he's with Mom ... then he'll be more than happy , Uday answered with a reassuring smile.
Uday ... , before Manyata could say anything more, Uday placed his finger on her lips and hushed her from talking. Enough talking now Princess ... close your eyes and sleep. You need to rest. Hopefully , tomorrow; I can take u home with me! Manyata immediately shut her eyes and soon fell asleep, in the warmth of her loving husband.
She slept with a contented smile on her face. Uday's words always gave her strength ... and here also , it gave her courage. She now believed, that Virat was happy, in a better place ... and her life could still move on ; even WITHOUT HER SON!

Mrs Singh , Mrs Singh ... , the nurse called to Manyata and slowly she opened her eyes. Mrs Singh , your medication - she handed Manyata a tablet and a glass of water, but by then , manyata was preoccupied with 1 thought : Where's Uday? She remembered sleeping with half her body above his, but when she woke up ... she was alone. There wasn't a trace of him ... HE WAS NEVER THERE! It was just a dream!

Haan Rajat , bol , Uday clicked on the ear-piece and answered the call. Stanley Phillips abhi bhi India mein hain , Rajat informed ... shocking Uday. Are u sure Rajat? , Uday stopped the treadmill and got off. Jee Uday Banna. He admitted himself in the same hospital where Yuvraanisa is! After a long pause, Uday replied : OK Rajat ... I'll take it from here. After searching for a specific number , uday dialled the person ... Ya , Hi ... I have information regarding the whereabouts of Mr Stanley Phillips. The man on the other end, took down all the details very carefully. He thanked Uday for his help and reassured that Stanley would be promptly deported back to Britain , and will spend time behind bars for his crime. Sorry Stanley, but THAT's what u get for going against Yuvraaj UdayVeer Singh! , Uday told with a smirk.

Mrs Singh , you're free to leave ... I've signed your discharge papers , the doctor told Manyata. I've already informed your husband - he'll be here shortly to take u home. Back of her mind - she knew Uday wouldn't come ... he never came in the last 2 days ... why would he come now? She asked the doctor to call her nanad to take her home ... as Unnati would never decline!
The doctor failed to contact Unnati , but someone did arrive to take Manyata home ... the driver! Uday sent the driver to pick up Manyata ... she was not surprised , but it did prick her heart.

Dada , please! Chotti - u sound like a broken record. So be it!!! But I'm not going to stop ... you need to meet Bhabhisa - both of u have lost a child , u both need to be each other's strength , Unnati preached for the umpteenth time ... Chotti - you'll be happy to know that your sister-in-law is coming home today. Oh , that's great news. I guess - I'll be saying Good-Bye then ... as you both need time together! Nope ... don't bother ,Uday told as he gelled his hair in front of the mirror ... I'm going out - you can stay and keep your sister-in-law company!
Where are u going? , came a soft voice from the doorway. Uday looked at the figure from the image on the mirror. More than her pale face and weak stance ... it was her FLAT STOMACH, that caught his eye. Automatically, his fingers curled into a fist. Hey Bhabhisa ... how are u feeling? , Unnati hugged Manyata and assisted her in sitting. I'm off! , Uday announced and started to walk away. Dada - you never said where you're going? It seems you 2 ladies have forgotten what day it is, well let me tell you ... it's the 27th!
I'm so sorry , I can't believe I forgot ... I'm very sorry Dada - many happy ... Rehene do Chotti , Uday cut in bluntly ... It's not like I'll be "CELEBRATING" my birthday! , his voice had a sharp edge to it.
I'm sorry Uday , Manyata apologised with eyes lowered. Uday ignored her and walked away. Unnati followed him , and tried to reckon with him once more ... when THAT FAILED ; plan B had to be implemented. The only way Uday would talk NICELY ... or rather "NORMALLY" - would be if ; Udita was around!
Unnati tickled Udita's toes, and the Baby woke up instantly. Hey Doll, your Mamma is home ... don't u want to see her? The child was overjoyed ; her grin was of a thousand Watts! She continued chanting : Mamma! , Mamma! , Mamma! , as Unnati carried her from her bedroom to (almost) where Manyata was .
She saw Uday grabbing his car-keys and wallet and immediately passed Udita to him: Sorry Dada - can u take her? I just remembered I need to be somewhere. Udita looked at Unnati sternly; she wanted an explanation for why Unnati dropped her off at the wrong destination! Bye Doll ... your Paapa will take you where u want to go , Unnati kissed her niece.
And where do u want to go Sweety-Pie? , Uday kissed Udita on her cheek. MAMMA! , she screamed loudly. Obviously Uday was not impressed ... Bad move Chotti! Meanwhile outside; Unnati patted her back in pride ... Not bad Unnati , not bad at all! Unnati knew that Manyata was too weak to handle Udita; and she knew very well, that Uday knew of this fact too ... therefore her brother would have to cancel his plans and stay home and hopefully - work things out with his wife. Sorry Dada - for ruining your plans ... but THIS is more important!
Oh God ; please, please watch over them. You brought sadness into their lives ... now don't let Virat's death break their marriage. Dada is so angry - I've never ever seen him like this , please don't let him make any rash decisions whilst in this condition!
CHAPTER : 14.2 :
Hee-hee-hee-hee , Udita giggled non-stop as Uday and Manyata battled to get free. Both got into a tangled mess, when Uday bent forward to put Udita into Manyata's lap. Udita's rapid hand movements was the cause of Manyata's hair getting caught in Uday's wrist-watch. Tears filled her eyes, when Uday yanked his watch free ... in the process, pulling out a few hair-strands from Manyata.
He marched to his study and pulled out a bottle of whiskey. He half-filled a glass and held it to his mouth. 1 of the hair-strands brushed against his face as he was about to take a sip, reminding him of the immense pain he inflicted on Manyata , just a minute ago.
Uday had vowed to bring ONLY PAIN into Manyata's life ... but he couldn't; when she got hurt - he felt double the pain. It had always been like that; and even now ... nothing had changed!
His eyes fell on the ultra-sound picture of Virat ... and it revived that feeling of contempt in him. Manyata's stupid decisions and poor judgements was the reason, Virat wasn't among them any more.
Uday - mujhse baath nahi karenge? , Manyata asked from the doorway. Uday looked beyond her , but before he could ask the whereabouts of his daughter, Manyata answered : Seemaji took her to change her nappy! Uday gave no reaction. She walked slowly to where Uday was seated and kneeled in front of him. Uday swung his chair to the other side and got up to walk away. Manyata too, stood up and followed ... she held his wrist stopping him from taking another stride : Please say something Uday , she begged. What do I say ... huh? Please tell me what to say? As usual, YOU DID WHAT U WANTED ... and MY CHILD HAD TO SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES! , Uday yelled back at her. She slumped to the floor, with uncontrollable tears flowing from her eyes. O for heaven's sake, stop crying ... your tears won't bring him back!
