This day also marks the 1st Anniversary of Hamaari Prem Kahaani...
It was supposed to be a 5 part OS for the Maaneet Marriage Anniversary event and today here I'm post the 57th part. It may sound strange but sometimes I feel I'm not writing this story but the story is taking its own course prompting me to pen it down.
I can't thank you guys enough for all your support and opinions all throughout this year.
COMING TO THE UPDATE
Dev one of the most hated characters in the start of this ff, has come a long way and today most of you want him to be given a chance to rectify his deeds and live up to Aman's upbringing.
Thanks for liking this Dev!
But there are a series of events that are vital for the story ahead and I need to go ahead with it but all I can say keep faith in me, the story wont disappoint you.
I'm posting a short one today, the next part is half done will post in a day or two.

Part 57
FOREST
[Maan's POV]
I had reached the decided place in time. Looking around I noted it was an open land surrounded by trees and bushes perfect for any kind of ambush attack. I carefully checked the gun in my pocket and text Vicky the details of the safest and closest point of entry to reach here, incase of any emergency the signal will be a gun shot. Having done with my back up I waited restlessly for Dev.
Since his call I was all the more anxious firstly because he was well aware of me being here and secondly him calling me without the ransom amount or the property papers seemed strange. He was surely upto something but my concern right now was solely for Maa, Geet and my baby!
My reverie broke with the sound of a jeep advancing towards me, Dev was driving the jeep. As he drove closer Maa and Geet came in my view. My blood boiled seeing their plight, both their hands were tied up to a bar of the vehicle. My eyes closely scrutinized Geet she looked weak, drained, confused and scared. I clenched my fists hard inorder to keep control over myself, one wrong move from me would put their life in danger. I waited with a baited breath gauging Dev's next move.
To my surprise he released Maa and Geet and spoke something pointing towards me before I could comprehend what he was upto I saw Geet running towards me and banged into me like squeezing herself in my arms hiding away from the world. It took me a few seconds to stable myself with impact of her clutch but all the anxiety, fear and tension just disappeared.
We felt at peace!!!!!
She broke the hug and briskly caressing me like making sure that I was really there in person and not her dream. Tears rolled down her eyes as she confessed, apologized and complained to me all her woes. I couldn't help but smile at her antics. But reminding myself of the task ahead I steeled my emotions and holding her hand firmly I advanced towards Dev, who was conversing with Maa.
I doubted his intentions!
Each step that I walked towards Dev reminded me of all his plans and pains that my family and Geet had endured till date. All the events flashed in front of my eyes and having him here in person I just couldn't control anymore and raised my hand to break his every bone but Maa mediated and held my hand before it hit him.
Maa spoke out that Dev had actually rescued them from the clutches of the kidnappers leaving me shell shocked! Not wanting to engage himself in any emotional conversation Dev requested us to leave this place immediately...But it was quite late as few goons stood blocking our way.
For once I wanted to believe in Dev but still our past encounters raised doubt in my mind. Has he really rescued Maa and Geet or its just a farce...Is this another trap...A part of his master plan...Does he have ulterior motives?
So many question and answers...Non!
DHABHA
[Vicky's POV]
We all started off immediately from our respective destinations after receiving Dad's call, who informed us about the change in plan. Bro had got a fair idea of Maa and BB's location by tracing Pari's call to Dev and information extracted by the dhabha owner and the Maulvi. We all had to meet up at same dhabha, which was supposedly centrally located and all the roads leading towards the forest coincided at this very junction. Probably thats why the owner was well aware of recent movements of cars near the forest and had helped Bro by divulging the details about it.
We all finally arrive at the dhabha but preferred to stay aloof not wanting to generate any doubt. ArjunBhai and AadiBhai were working out the plan with the officers in civil dress, Teji Veerji indirectly trying to grab some information from the truck drivers, Lucky was fooling around with a young waiter. YashBhai and I walked towards the dhabha owner trying to dig in further maybe we too can get our hands on some more information in our style.
We tried hard to flatter him but his one scornful look to us was enough for us, to realize he is not the one to who can be fooled easily. We immediately get serious and adopted Bro's method knowing Maan Singh Khurana believes in straight talks. We sincerely ask him, also mentioning about Bro to which he instantly eases off and informs us that the mysterious guy whom he had seen earlier had again headed towards the forest sometime back. Though the supposed kidnapper hadn't stopped here but this time on Bro's request he had noted down the car number which he quickly forwarded us.
We earnestly thanked him and moved towards ArjunBhai. TejiVeerji too had derived more information about various hideouts, abandoned huts and shacks in the forest vicinity. Lucky whom we had assumed of fooling around was actually sketching out the face of the supposed kidnapper, the young waiter was the dhabha owner's son and he had clearly seen the guy.
With the car number, a rough sketch of the kidnapper, approximate location in our hands, we were all set! Just then I received Bro's message to head towards a small roadside temple situated on the onset of forest road and wait for his signal incase of any emergency.
With a new lease of hope we all started off!
FOREST
[Vikram's POV]
"DEV!!!!!!! That son of a *****!"
I hadn't expected him to be this smart. I had purposely kept him out this plan till it was successfully implemented not wanting to take any chances owing to his foolishness. I had also warned George to keep a close eye on both mother-son duo but...
Dev had indeed played smart and successfully fooled those good for nothing men of George and changed the whole game!
Luckily George and his trusted aids had put up in a different location closer to the main highway as a back up which has been a saving grace. George had heard movement of vehicle around in the morning just to be careful he had immediately left to our other hideout to alert his men but those fools must have drunk whole night and had passed out.
George's presence of mind alerted him that there was more to the story, there was a distinct weird odour around, the door had been locked from out and our jeep too was missing. His doubt was confirmed as he saw Ayesha walking back from the direction of the den.
All this was clearly indicating that the mother-son duo were certainly upto something grave. He instantly called me up and disclosed all the details. I ordered him to move to the den and take both the women in our custody and if Dev or Ayesha try to act smart we will go ahead with our plan B.
I have just entered the forest but can't get through George, I wonder where he is and what is the status of our plan?
FOREST
[Dev's POV]
"Itni bhi kya jaldi hain Boss, hume bhi toh mauka milna chahiye apne mehmaano (guest) ki khatirdaari (hospitality) karne ka." George uttered sarcastically pointing his gun towards.
George's sudden appearance shocked the hell out of me!
How come he is here so soon? I had myself thoroughly sprayed the sleeping gas all around the hideout and top of it I had locked the main door but...
I looked towards Maan who was glaring at me accusingly but before I could clarify George's voice made us look towards him.
"Kya soch rahe ho Boss ke main yahan kaise aa gaya?" George mockingly begun stressing hard on the word 'BOSS'.
"Kya socha tha tumne ke tum mere kuch aadmiyon ko behosh kar ke inn dono ko itni aasaani se bhaga dega. Bacche jitni teri umar nahi hain na utne saalon se main yeh khel khelta aa raha hoon."
"Par maanna padega dimaag toh hain tere paas...Par afsos!(But alas) woh tajurbaa (experience) nahi...Kyunki beta-beta hi rehta hain aur baap-baap...samjha!" He proclaimed proudly as he continued further.
"Pehli galti tum logon ki...yeh hero jungle mein gaadi lekar aa gaya...Dusri galti...Tumne darwaaza bahar se lock kar diya...Aur aakhri galti...yeh jeep." He enlightened me of my folly.
"Chalo tumhara chance khatam ab hamaari baari shuru. Pakad lo sab ko." He ordered his men.
Before his men could grab us Maan and I leaped on them together. In our scuffle I managed to punch George hard in his gut, that with the impact of the blow, he fell on the ground and his gun lost in bushes nearby. While Maan gestured Mrs Khurana and Geet to take advantage of the chaos and hide somewhere in the dense bushes around. Having secured Geet and Mrs Khurana it wouldn't be difficult to empower these goons, as the rest were lying unconscious in their hideout.
It seemed so strange throughout our life Maan and I always fought against each other and today we were fighting for each other!
We had nearly got them but failed to realize that George and one of the goons had managed to reach Mrs Khurana and Geet. Mrs Khurana tried to fight them but George pushed her away and she banged her head in a nearby tree and passed out. Before they could lay their hands on Geet, Maan inorder to stop them removed his gun and shot the other goon in his leg and swiftly managed to grab George's hand midway punching him fiercely in his face making him spit his blood out.
Maan seemed as a man possessed beating the life out of George. All his anger, helplessness, guilt and concern for his loved ones coming out in the form of his blows. I with great difficulty pulled him apart signalling him to go to Geet who was in a bad shape. We had successfully overpowered them as they all lay nearly dead on the ground.
Geet was so petrified with the happenings now that she clung to Maan in panic. Maan tried to calm her down but to no avail. She was shivering out of fear, the effect of this mishap had drained her emotionally and physically. All the stress so evident on her face. Even presence of Maan was not comforting her. A wave of guilt ran through me seeing her terror stricken face. Remorsefully I moved towards Mrs Khurana who had gained conscious and was luckily not very hurt. The only respite in the whole mishap that finally they all were safe and can leave from here when we heard another gun shot.
We all turned in the direction to see Mom standing there aiming the gun at Maan and Geet.
I closed my eyes in regretting this moment. This woman has damned me for life!
I hadn't expected Mom here and that too with a gun! I wondered how did she get hold of a gun but then seeing her position near the bushes it all made sense, this was George's gun which had fallen when I had beaten him up earlier.
I just wanted to ensure Geet and Mrs Khurana left safely with Maan and then I would settle the rest but as they say its easier to ruin and difficult to mend.
[Aparna's POV]
I slowly opened my eyes though my head still felt heavy and was hurting. I looked around and saw Dev beside me, he carefully helped me up and slowly we walked toward Maan and Geet. Geet was in a very troubled state.
My heart went out to her!
She was trembling in Maan's embrace not able to get over the shock of those goons attacking us. Maan was trying his level best to calm her down as so much mental stress was not good for her in this state but...
I glanced at Dev's guilt stricken face, as he dejectedly looked towards them. I knew he felt responsible for this misery and Geet's state. But before we could handle the situation a sudden gunshot distracted us towards its source.
I was shocked to see Ayesha aiming the gun at Maan and Geet. My gaze moved from her to Dev whose face was the mirror to his emotions today and it clearly depicted how much pained he was with her presence. Geet tried to squeeze in Maan all the more burying her face in his neck like hiding her being from all.
I prayed to Babaji to keep my children safe from this woman!
Ayesha's vicious words echoed in the woods.
"Maan iss baar main tumhe jitne nahi doongi. Har baar tum Khurana's ne mujhe shikasht (defeat) di hain lekin iss baar main tum logon ko aisa ghaav (wound) doongi ke tum log zindagi bhar tadapte (squirm) rahoge."
"Iss Geet mein tumhaari jaan basti hain na? Kyun na ho tumhaari mohabbat jo hain. Aur ab toh Khurana's ka waaris bhi pal raha hain iske andar, hain na? Jaise hamesha tum logon ne meri saari khushiyaan cheen li waise hi aaj main tumse tumhaari jeene ki wajah...Iss Geet ko tumse cheen loongi."
She declared dangerously. Her eyes filled with hatred and an alarming fierceness.
Maan too aimed his gun towards her but it didn't deter her a bit, she laughed wickedly and fired.
Maan plunged ahead turning around saving Geet, who was still hugging him tight shocked by the change of events seeing Maan on the verge of being shot, Geet let out a scream
"MAAN..."
I closed my eyes not having anymore strength in me to see my children hurt but another painful scream from Maan forced me top open my eyes.
"DEV..."
I looked towards Maan who seemed fine, was gawking ahead! Before I could sigh in relief my gaze shifted to Geet, she had fainted and was hanging on to Maan.
I followed his view witnessing a wounded Dev who stood as a shield protecting Maan and Geet. He was bleeding profusely the bullet had just missed his heart and hit his left shoulder. He was stumbling, miserably trying to balance himself while Ayesha stood baffled staring at Dev.
I rushed towards Dev to support him but he stopped me and spoke.
"MAAN...Tum inn logon ko yahan se lekar jao."
Maan who had by now lifted lifeless Geet in his arms advanced towards Dev swiftly but he raised his hand and repeats stubbornly.
"Maan jao yahan se...Geet ke liye...apne bacche ke liye...isse pehle ke baaki ke goonde aa jaaye...niklo yaha se."
"Dev main tumhe aisi haalat mein chod ke nahi jaa sakta. Tum zakhmi ho aur tumhe...." Maan tries to refuse but Dev requests ruefully.
"Maan yeh meri ladaai hain aur main isse akele ladna chahta hoon. Tumhe Geet ki...apne honewaale bacche ki kasam...please jao yahan se." He was fumbling but concluded resolutely.
