Astha went down to prepare the breakfast and carry on with her other morning duties. She was clumsier than usual. Her thoughts drifted towards the morning kiss time and again. She blushed at Shlok's ardor. She had never imagined there was a fierce lover behind that indifferent mask.
Anjali rudely interrupted her thoughts with her usual rude face and harsh words. Astha gave a huge sigh and thought she must speak about Anjali to Shlok. She also wanted to talk about the weird behavior of her in laws. Though she was not confident with her new found status as a wife with Shlok, she knew she had to get into this quickly.
As usual the puja and arthi got over. Shlok never participated in the morning puja. Another thing she had to delve into. She served everyone the breakfast and then sat besides Shlok to have her own. Her mother in law never failed to shoot insulting looks whenever she sat next to Shlok. However, Astha just learned to ignore that. The victory was hers, at least in this one thing.
The menfolk got up to get ready to office. Varad had already left to his office and there was still no sign of Shlok. Even Baba had just left. Astha went up to see what was happening. Shlok just cut a call as she went into their room. He was taking out his jacket out of the wardrobe.
"Shlok, aren't you getting late to office?"
For which Shlok simply pulled her by the wrist and turned her back towards the warbrobe doors. He held her wrists by her head with both his hands. "Maybe I don't want to go to office today." His voice was suggestive.
"Shlok, the door is open." Astha was edging away from him.
"So?"
"Someone might come in."
"Who is there? Ayi is downstairs and am sure the others must have left to office by now." He tightened his hold when she started to push him.
Before she lost her mind, Astha told him quickly "Shlok, I want to talk to you about something."
"Tell me." He gently tugged her earlobe. Astha closed her eyes and sucked in a breath.
"I..it's serious Shlok!" Astha was trying her best to concentrate on what she had to say.
"Hmm..." He lips continued their journey by the side of her neck. Astha was trying to breathe normally and failed. Her blush slowly crept up from her neck towards her cheeks.
"It's about Ayi and Baba." She finally got out in a breathless whisper.
Shlok immediately stopped and looked at her. "What about them? Did Ayi do something? Tell me Astha!" He cupped her face. Shlok's voice went from husky to concerned in one second. His eyes were clouded with worry.
"No. Nothing of that sort. I noticed certain things Shlok and I just wanted to ask you regarding Ayi and Baba."
"What?"
"Not here. Can we go somewhere else and talk?"
"I wanted to take you out for dinner today. We can talk then. And what cuisine do you prefer? I want to know everything about you. Your likes, dislikes, what sort of a person you are...everthing."
Astha smiled. "I prefer Italian."
He simply raised his eyebrows. He didn't expect that. Maybe his wife did have a few surprises in store he thought. He was still staring at her when she pushed him away.
"Shlok, if you're done with looking can you move? Both of us have work I think." Her voice was wry with humor.
"Looking is all I will do right now. But not for long." His thumb brushed her lower lip and his eyes darkened at the swift change in her breathing. He took his jacket before he changed his mind and closed the door behind him as he left.
Astha simply turned around and leaned her head on the wardrobe door. Her heart was beating fast and her pulse was racing high. Never in her wildest dreams had she imagined Shlok would seduce her with his words like this.
With the excitement of their dinner date, she went about the work for the rest of the day. Her feet didn't touch the ground and the smile didn't leave her face. Astha was falling more and more for her husband. She vowed within herself to take care of him always.
