~Chapter 9 -Being Best of Friends~

"Hello auntie!"

Khushi greeted Ira, with a shining smile, welcoming her inside the house.

"Hello beta!"

Ira replied, stepping inside her house.

"How is your son auntie?"

Arnav asked Ira, politely, as soon as he saw her.

"Everything is good."

"Auntie, may I ask you a question?"

Khushi asked curiously, while giving Ira a glass of water.

"Sure beta"

"Why doesn't your son live here? I mean in this house?"

"I don't have a reason.. May be he doesn't want to live with me. Or may be he is too busy with his own married life."

Ira said, in a teary tone.

"Auntie.. You don't need to be upset. We are there na, we are your children only."

Arnav said, in a comforting voice.

Ira smiled and nodded positively.

"Auntie, leave all that. Didn't you find anything different in me?"

Khushi asked, smilingly.

"What beta?"

"Haww, Auntie. I wore salwar-kameez for the first time today."

Khushi said, pouting her lips.

''Arrey-waah! You look great beta!"

"Thank you auntie"

Khushi said, giving a peck on her cheek.

"That's not fair auntie"

Arnav said, scrunching his eyebrows, while his lips formed a cute pout.

"What?"

"You never compliment me"

"Arnav beta, why do you need compliments? You are toh already very handsome!"

Ira said.

"Oh thank you auntie!"

Arnav smirked looking at Khushi, making her jealous to the extent.

"Auntie is just in a jokey mood, Arnav. She means that you like a 'hand-pump'.. Not handsome"

Khushi said, starting off a fresh fight.

"Something is burning Khushi!" Arnav said smirking, "I think its your big-fat ego."

"I don't have any ego! I think your arrogance has caught fire"

"Come on Arnav.. Khushi? You can never get rid of your useless arguments! Right?"

Ira said helplessly, being stuck in the middle of their useless argument.

"She only started it auntie!"

Arnav said, pointing his finger at Khushi.

"Whatever"

Khushi said, while stamping her foot angrily.

"You both must be hungry. I'll go and prepare something to eat."

Ira said, while getting up from the couch.

"No no auntie! You must be tired, you sit and relax. I'll make the breakfast"

Arnav said, making her sit back.

"Are u sure?"

Khushi asked, quite amused.

"I am"

"Should I help you?"

"NO! You will just sit here and wait"

Arnav instructed Khushi, very well aware of her cooking skills.

"OK"

Khushi said, while stretching her arms out lazily and settling herself on the couch.

"Here it is!"

Arnav exclaimed, while arranging the breakfast on the dining table.

"Are you still sure you only made it?"

Khushi asked amused, checking the dishes and smelling the food.

"Of course Candy.. I only made it"

Arnav said, quite boastfully.

"Ok, lets start!"

Khushi said, settling on a chair, still unsure about the food.

As soon as a morsel entered her mouth, her eyes involuntarily closed, enjoying the delicious flavor. Gone are days when cooking was a speciality of girls'! It can be of boys too! Especially when Arnav is concerned...

"Its awesome Arnav!! Right auntie?" Khushi said, literally jumping on her seat.

"Haan beta, bohot acha hai."

(Yes beta, it is very good.)

"Arnav, you should cook more often yaar.. Have you received some kind of training? I mean its perfect!"

Khushi said, moving her hands over her plate, gesturing Arnav that she really really liked the food.

"Thank you thank you!"

Arnav bowed in front of them.

The three had the breakfast, occasionally feeding one another; discussing about various things..

It was noon-time.

Khushi and Arnav were relaxing themselves in Khushi's room, playing candy-crush on Arnav's iPad.

"Because of you we failed this level!"

Khushi retorted, as they lost a level in the game.

"Candy, we'll try again" Arnav said, taking the iPad from her,"Moreover, this game suits our names-candy and lollipop"

And they both chuckled.

"You try this level, I'm getting a call from Aakash" Arnav handled the iPad to her, and got up to share a conversation with Aakash.

"Aakash?"

"Arnav" Aakash replied on the phone,"Whats today's plan?"

"Should we go to the disc?"

Arnav asked.

"No yaar.. The Freshers' Party must be nearing.. We'll go to the disc at that time"

"Yeah you're right.. So whats the plan?"

"Come to the beach in the evening" Aakash said,"We'll play volleyball and then have a nice refreshing dinner."

"Great idea.. Is your girlfriend coming?"

"Who.. Payal?"

"Yup! Is she coming?"

"OK I'll call her with me."

"OK.. Khushi and I will be there"

"Perfect!"

Aakash exclaimed and cut the call.

There useless talks were completely over! May be because Aakash is now in relationship with Payal or Khushi has occupied Aakash's place in Arnav's life.

Arnav went back to sit with Khushi and snatched the iPad from her. The next second he received a smack on the back from Khushi, for committing such a crime of snatching the iPad from her.

"Ouch!" he shrieked in pain.

"So what did you decide with Aakash?"

"We are going to the beach."

"Really? Yuppie!"

Khushi excitedly got up from the couch and went to the cupboard to finalize what she'll wear for the beach.

"Khushi we are going to the beach in the evening" Arnav said, "Why are you taking out your dresses now?"

"How's this?"

Khushi showed a dress to Arnav, a bright metallic golden dress.

"Are we going to the disc?"

"OK.. So how is this one?"

She again showed a dress to him, a floral pink-colored dress.

"Are we going to a park?"

"Then what should I wear Arnav?"

"Khushi..Just relax..You wear whatever you're comfortable in..Its just we four who'll be there.. Just be in your casuals"

Arnav advised her.

"OK. We four? You mean Payal is also coming?"

"Yeah. How can one leave his girlfriend alone?"

Arnav said making a sarcastic comment on Aakash.

"Yuppie!" Khushi jumped in excitement,"I have lots of things to tell Payal.."

"That's a usual thing"

"What?"

"Girls having a lot a things to tell each other"

"Leave all that.. Now you go and give me the iPad. I'll download some useful apps"

"Useful?"

He said, raising his eyebrows.

"Yup.. Like an app to know whats in fashion.. and various designs of dresses.. and some cooking recipes.. Now you'll only cook everyday"

"I?"

"Of course Arnav.. How can we make a person sit absolutely free when he knows how to cook better than a professional chef?"

"Oh. I'll take this statement as a compliment."

"Now you go"

"Ya ya I'm going only" Arnav said, getting up, "Let me have some sleep.. You wake me up so early; just for your that stupid drama"

"Aww... Aap so jaiye Arnavji"

(Aww... You sleep Arnavji)

"No now don't start again"

Arnav said and immediately rushed out of her room, leaving a laughing Khushi behind him.

"You are ready Khushi?"

"Ya I am"

Khushi said, while coming out of her room, dressed in a jeans and a printed tank top.

They rode to the beach, not really in a mood to walk.

"Hey Aakash!"

Arnav waved to him, as soon as he saw him.

Arnav and Khushi walked to him and Payal, who were standing at a side.

Khushi took Payal in a bear-hug saying,"Tu toh mujhe bhool hi gayi.."(You have certainly forgotten me..), to which Payal replied,"Nhi yaar, tujhe hi naye dost mil gaye.."(No yaar, you only have made new friends)

Arnav and Aakash too hugged each other.

"Hi! I'm Khushi"

Khushi stretched out her hand towards Aakash, which he took in to shake it, friendly.

"I think we are meeting for the first time"

Aakash laughed out.

"Yeah.. See the fate.. You are my first best friend's boyfriend and second best friend's best friend, and still we didn't had a single meeting"

Khushi said, in a single go.

"What?"

Aakash and Arnav looked at her with a confused look, while Payal let out a chuckle.

"Oho Khushi! You are just too much! Speak slowly and clearly."

Payal advised her.

OK.. I mean you are Payal, my first best friend's boyfriend and Arnav, my second best friend's best friend; in short you are Payal boyfriend and Arnav's best friend, still we didn't meet for even a single time"

Khushi explained really slowly, and both Aakash and Arnav listened to her attentively.

"Oh.. Now I got it.. Yeah you're right"

Aakash said before chuckling.

"I think we also met for the first time"

Payal too forward-ed her hand to shake with Arnav's.

"Yeah. Nice to meet you"

Arnav said, staring her.

"What?"

Payal said, getting nervous of his constant stare.

"No no nothing! I'm just waiting for you to explain to whole thing just like Khushi - my best friend's boyfriend and all"

Payal was about to speak when Khushi cut her off,

"Arnav! You are not my boyfriend!"

"Ya ya candy.. I know I'm not your boyfriend, I was just--"

"Stop Lollipop!" Khushi shushed him,"Hey that makes a rhyme, stop lollipop" and she laughed out imitatively.

"Lollipop?"

Aakash and Payal looked from Khushi to Arnav and again to Khushi.

"Ya Aakash.. We've named each other. He calls me Candy and I call him Lollipop.. Isn't it cute.. Should I name you and Payal too?"

"No Khushi.. There's no need to do that.. We're here to play volleyball. You wanna join us?"

Arnav got out her Khushi from her extra-excited state.

"I don't know how to play"

Khushi said, with a pout.

"That doesn't matter.. You just have to hit the ball using your interlocked hands and sometimes with your head.. its really that easy"

Arnav explained to her.

"OK lets try"

"You too come Payal"

Aakash said, holding Payal's hand.

"Ya ya I'm coming"

The four played volleyball joyously. At start, Khushi and Payal were uncomfortable and now that good, but afterwards they just didn't care for anything and played just for fun. Though they fell down a number of times, and tasted the sand but never left the enjoyment. Arnav and Aakash were one team and Payal and Khushi one team. All four were badly sweating when the game ended. Obviously, Aakash and Arnav's team won but the amusement they experienced, was beyond description.

They went to the hotel situated nearest to the beach to have something.

"What will you eat?"

all four of them asked each other simultaneously, as they sat on a table, located in a corner.

"Lets order a pizza"

Aakash spoke out, when none of them replied.

"You are such a pizza-lover"

Payal hit him playfully on his arm, seeing him ordering a pizza.

"Why? What's wrong in having a pizza?"

Aakash asked sheepishly.

"You are right Payal.. He just loves pizzas.. You know Khushi, when I came to Goa, and we both became friends, he used to make me eat pizzas almost everyday!"

Arnav said, giving a 'you are too much' look to Aakash.

"Yeah.. I've been eating pizzas since two days"

Payal said, making a tired face.

Khushi gave her a 'Really?' look, and Payal quickly made up and excuse to prevent herself from continuous teasing,"Woh actually Khushi, day before yesterday, we had pizza in the college and yesterday, I and he went out for a pizza date.. just because he doesn't want to eat anything else."

"Oh.. Stop it guys.. Speak about right now.. I'm hungry yaar"

Khushi said, moving her hand on her belly.

"Arnav why don't you go and make something in the kitchen"

Khushi offered him.

"Have you lost it?"

Arnav said, gritting his teeth.

"I'm serious Arnav.. It will become a side business.. During the day there's college, but you can come and cook here during evening.. I'm sure they give you a good amount."

Khushi said, stretching out her thumb.

"Just shut up Khushi"

As they were busy with their silly talks, a girl walked to them and suddenly kissed Arnav on his cheek!...which left him as well as the other three SHOCKED.
