In a freewheeling chat, Veena and Asad opened up on everything from how their romance began to the proposal to her controversial past. Read on...
Tell us about your love story. How did you and Asad first meet and fall in love?
Veena: Asad and I have known each other's families for a very long time. My father and Asad's dad were both in the army and knew each other quite well. That's how I knew Asad as well but we'd never met. One day, Asad and I were both headed to the embassy for our US visa and we bumped into each other. We had to wait for our visa paperwork for three hours but those three hours changed my life because we kept on talking and got along very well. It was not love at first sight but now I totally love him. He's my everything!
What's the most romantic thing Asad's ever done for you?
Veena: His proposal was very Bollywood. We'd only known each other for four days and he proposed to me. We were at a beach in Dubai and suddenly he asked for my hand for marriage and it even rained when he proposed to me. The rain stopped for a while and when I said yes, I could feel the drizzle again! Within 10 days, we knew that we were soulmates.
Where are you planning to host your wedding reception and when will it happen?
Veena: Well, we have decided to host it wherever possible, focusing more on the USA, Dubai and Pakistan. It will happen very soon, dates are not decided yet but I promise it is going to be grand.
Are you going to continue to act in movies now that you're married?
Veena: Yes, of course, I will continue with my work. In fact, I am going back to shoot for a film tomorrow. However, there will be a slight difference in my choice of movies as I am married now. Both Asad and I will discuss on whether or not to select a movie.
There were rumours that you've been banned from Pakistan. Is that true?
Veena: There's no such thing. I am a Pakistani girl and I am very traditional. Pakistan loves me and I am always welcomed to my country. I've just been very busy with my work so I never get time to go to Pakistan.
There've been a lot of controversies around Veena Malik. Does the past affect you in anyway?
Asad: The past does not affect me one bit. I never believed the rumors I read about Veena. I love her for who she is and the past does not matter to me at all. I would believe the rumors if I saw them with my own eyes and not just what is heard from different sources.
Veena: Whatever the past maybe, I have left it all behind. There are always rumors about me. I cannot say anything except that they are not true.
