Part 43 - Epilogue
Readers, I want to end this sweet little romantic fiction because I want it to remain just that; sweet and romantic. Needless to say I will be writing more on the other fiction and I do have something else in mind too 😊. Thank you each and every one who has liked and commented on this story. This was my very first piece as a writer and this will always be close to my heart!
Eight years later...
A celebratory dinner was on in the Agnihotri mansion. The huge dining table was full with Niranjan and Anjali, Kalindi and Avdhoot, Varad and Sojal, Shlok and Astha, and three special people occupying it. Haani and Ashka, the 5 year old twin girls, were sitting with their cousin Bharat, who was 6.
The three of them were huddled over one corner of the table and were obviously plotting something. Shlok and Astha looked fondly at their twin girls whispering something to their cousin. Who would have thought life would come to a full circle?
Today Astha had finally achieved her doctorate in media studies. She was Dr. Astha Agnihotri. Her husband, her anchor, was the person behind her success. He had ensured she continued her studies while also taking care of the public relations and charity wing of their institution. Anjali was initially surprised at this, but she too was equally supportive.
Niranjan of course took some time to realize that his daughter in law was very much interested in their business. This was the first time an Agnihotri woman worked after marriage. With persuasion from Astha, Shlok, and Varad, he finally agreed.
The twins were an unexpected bonus. Shlok and Astha wanted to have a child, but to get both of them together was definitely a blessing. Varad and Sojal move to Mumbai since Varad headed the institution that they had started in Mumbai. If the admissions were anything to go by, their institution in Mumbai was a landmark.
Varad, Sojal, and Bharat had come today to celebrate along with Astha. Though Sojal was content to stay back at home and look after her son, her support for her husband was very important and strong. She also felt proud of Astha and always looked at her as the sister she never had.
And then Varad made the announcement. That he and Sojal were to become parents again. It was a time for double celebration. Niranjan and Anjali were ecstatic. Astha rushed to Sojal and hugged her. Kalindi offered a blushing Sojal some sweets.
Varad and Shlok shared a brotherly hug and the laughter and celebrations continued. After they all retired to bed, Astha checked on the twins next door. They were sleeping peacefully. She went to her room to see Shlok reading in bed. Astha joined him in the bed and cuddled into him. Their love for each other burned as bright as ever. Over the years the love had matured into respect, understanding, and deep affection.
Today they understood each other even without words. Shlok was Astha's rock, his presence was the very meaning of her life. In turn, Astha was everything to Shlok. He knew he had made the best decision when he married his Astha.
Astha pulled the quilt over both of them and switched off the bed side light. She kissed Shlok softly on his cheek. "Good night; love you." She said softly.
"Love you too." He replied and pulled her to himself even closer.
The stars shone bright, and the full moon came out of the clouds. It was as if they blessed the couple with all happiness always.
