Mega bhangra jol at Classic

INTERNATIONAL Bollywood stars and famous racehorses will team up on Classic Day at Turffontein this Saturday to produce an amazing fusion of top racing and Bollywood song and dance.

Racing kicks off at 11.55am and the fun will continue into the night at the Bollywood After Party, which will include comedy from Uncle Peru, the M.U.S.I.C. SA awards to Indian artists and performances by Sameer Mohammad, Nihira Joshi and Asif Azaad before ending with a Bhangra Bash hosted by popular Lotus FM ''jock'' Fahim.

Sameer Mohammad won Little Champs (India's equivalent to Pop Idols) while Nihira Joshi is setting Bollywood alight with her song from the movie ''Salaam E Ishq''.

Fashion scouts will be on the lookout from Races 1 to 5 for the best-dressed couples in a Bollywood Fashion Competition.

Judging will take place after Race 5 and the winners get an all-expenses-paid trip to the Post Merchants race meeting in Durban in June.

And there will be Bollywood song and dance galore between races with racegoers being treated to performances from artists like Priya Singh, Dominque and Guldasta and dancers from the Mershen Ramaloo Dance Academy.

Racegoers will also get to see the finalists from Mrs and Miss India South Africa with classic Indian food aplenty in the Food Court.

Entrance is free to the biggest bhangra jol yet held in Gauteng and the first 500 racegoers through the turnstiles get a R10 free TAB betting voucher. Motorists must enter through the West Gate off Turffontein Road and utilise the free and secure parking in the infield.

Thanks Ron. Personally I feel Sameer and Nihira have greater potential than to sing at horseracing and related events. They r the very best. They deserve bigger and better platforms. I think the parents should be careful with selecting the right shows.

You are very right Biswita their potential is very great. This is not the final stage for these 2 singers though it is a stepping stone. At this stage of the career it is all about exposure. Neither of them have solo albums out so there is no "personal" Hit or flop for either of them. At the moment they are all doin tribute songs and that too Hit , classic's tributes. So at this stage any positive exposure is good exposure until the time when an offer does come by for a "Solo" Album or song. The Chota Don is too small to do playbacks or have a solo album, So if he keeps getting exposure he will get known and his face will be remembered from watching him in the media all the time until he reaches the right age for the industry.
