Hey guys - on learning about the leap and such I just felt compelled to make this post. I'm not going to lie, I haven't been watching the show since October (because of assignment deadlines and then learning of the show's downfall) but I've always had an idea of how the show could have gone. This is not an FF/SS/OS (as I don't have time nor energy to write one) but it's simply a telling of Jaan through my eyes. I'm picturing this just as Raghu and Antara express their love and Satya enters.
Jaan: The Forgotten Story
Raghu and Antara finally express their love whilst Satya is attracted to this mystery girl that he sees in and out of the basti/chawl (forgot what they call it here). He wonders who she is whilst on the other hand he hears about Raghu's alliance with a "Miss Call". He has always despised Raghu since a young age as he felt Daya Mai as always favoured Raghu over him, to the point where he was sent to London, away from his mother. He lives a cold, dark life, having to see his mother love someone else. Every night he would think about the mysterious girl who had saved him one night: how for a second someone actually cared about him. Who was this girl? And why does she suddenly disappear? He sees Raghu talking to someone on the phone and clenches his fist; Raghu has someone else who cares about him- but Satya? He has no one. There was only one way he had the upper hand; he was the heir of his mother's fortunes, and Raghu was the servant but yet even then his mother always gave him the blind eye and favoured Raghu.
A couple of days past like this when on one festival Satya finally sees that girl again that has been playing through his mind: he is completely bewitched by her laughter, by that single second that she cared for him. But fate has hit him once again: that girl was none other than Antara, the girl in love with Raghu. That tiny bit of faith he had, had been snatched away from him.
Though Daya Mai showed her care for Raghu, she secretly despised him. She hated him to the core; but he was the only one who would do anything for her. He was the one that she sent to do all the dirty work. She desperately wanted her son to love her, to respect her like Raghu does but no matter how much she tried, her son avoided her -- and all because of Raghu! Ever since he had entered their lives, she had made him into a goon, and that has taken her son away from her. Though it was good in a way, Raghu did everything so if worse comes to worse, it'll be Raghu's downfall - not hers! She hates Antara for influencing Raghu against all the wrong things Daya Mai tells him to do and wants Antara out of their lives.
Daya Mai conspires to get rid of Antara and her family when she learns about Aman -- the terrorist who she assigned to kill Dr Kaul (for foiling her plan earlier) -- Raghu was the one that mistakenly delivered the parcel to the Kaul's residence that ended up killing Antara's dad. Daya Mai decides to let Antara find out so that she will hate Raghu and get away from his life. By now Satya is in love with Antara and hates seeing Raghu with her and is even more hurt when his mother arranges to get Antara and Raghu married. On the day of the wedding, Antara finds out the truth and blames Raghu for everything - she begins to hate him whilst Raghu - who has just found out is completely broken. Antara runs away to Kashmir to her real home.
Daya Mai is extremely happy that Antara is gone but doesn't realise that her own son Satya is upset by this as well. Raghu tries to find Antara in Mumbai but doesn't know where she has gone -- Daya Mai tells him to do things for her (ie, goon stuff) but he disagrees with her because of Antara's influence. He disobeys with Daya Mai and tells her what he really thinks. He learns that everything happened because of her. Daya Mai is scared that she is losing control over Raghu and decides to hurt him really bad. She conspires with Manohar to hurt Raghu but Rasika finds out. She liked Raghu for ages even though Raghu always avoided her. She truly did care for him and couldn't let Daya Mai and her husband hurt Raghu. She inspires Raghu to keep on searching for Antara, and maybe she's gone to the place where she truly feels at home: Kashmir. Raghu thanks her and is about to leave for Kashmir when he feels worried for Antara's family. Noor is with her husband but Geeta and Ishaan will have no one to help them. He worries if something happens to them and takes them to a safe place (okay remember ages back when Antara or someone mentions they have some money in some place? Well just imagine Raghu takes them there, that is out of Mumbai and in safe hands).
Raghu leaves for Kashmir, remembering the time he had last come here and his unknowingly killing of Dr Kaul. He is angry with himself but carries on to find Antara. He finds that house he visited: half broken and covered in ash. After days/weeks of searching for her, he is about to give up but finds more faith in his love -- he finally finds her, helping some orphans and living a sad life (okay, picturing Geet from Jab We Met after she becomes depressed lol) -- he learns that Antara hasn't really spoken to anyone since she arrived and keeps herself to herself. Raghu comes in front of her and tries to explain himself but Antara doesn't want to listen to him. Every day he tries to talk to her and every day she avoids him. Every night he plays the tune on his mouth organ that makes her fall asleep.
In Mumbai, Daya Mai is outraged that Raghu has taken Antara's family somewhere safe and he himself has gone to find her. She is completely angry with this betrayal that she decides to kill both Raghu and Antara. She says how she had brought Raghu up so that none of the police enquiries or whatever would fall on her, it would be Raghu that would take the blame. She says how she kept her son away so that he wouldn't live the life that Raghu does. Satya learns everything and realises how evil his mother actually is -- he hadn't realise how fallen his mother is and that Raghu was symbolically his shield away from this. Satya begins to feel guilty at everything and remorses everything. He decides to save Raghu and Antara: Raghu because he was betrayed, and Antara because he truly loves her. Satya goes off to Kashmir to look for them whilst Daya Mai sends off her men to kill them instantly.
In Kashmir, Raghu finally is able to pull Antara from her depression and she realises how foolish she was -- in her grief, she had completely abandoned her family. Raghu tells her that he has taken them to a safe place where no one can harm them. Raghu tells her everything he remembered about that day and what he did unknowingly, he asks for her forgiveness but Antara says she is sorry for not trusting him. Raghu tells her that it was Daya Mai's plan to separate them and that she was the one behind everything. Raghu tells her what Aman had told him earlier about Daya Mai being the one behind the explosion. Though she is upset, Raghu's love for her keeps her alive. Raghu vows that one day he will get revenge on Daya Mai for everything. Antara and Raghu start their life afresh, simple and basic but with each other. They build themselves a small house with what little they have. One day Antara tells him about her music and Raghu learns of the burnt guitar -- he gifts her a similar guitar to the one that burnt and inspires her to sing again.
Just when things are going well for them, Daya Mai's men find them and try to kill them when Satya intervenes and saves them. Raghu and Antara are confused and Satya tells them of Daya Mai's plan. All three run away together, trying to stay alive, all while Satya is heart broken seeing Raghu and Antara together. They are suddenly surrounded by Daya Mai's men whilst Daya Mai herself comes to ensure Raghu and Antara die. She is shocked to see Satya with them and tries to reason with him but he tells her that he knows everything and that all he wanted was her love that she gave Raghu! He says he didn't even realise that Raghu was his shield that she created. Daya Mai tries to get Satya away but there is a big fight where Daya Mai ends up with a gun and shoots Raghu -- but Satya gets there and he gets shot! Daya Mai realises what she has done and runs to her son who is disgusted with her - he takes the gun and points it at her saying she was never the perfect mother - but Raghu was the perfect son! He shoots her once saying this was for sending her own son away, he shoots her again saying this was for hurting his brother (Raghu) by killing Dr Kaul, he shoots her one last time saying this was for trying to separate two lovers. Daya Mai dies and Satya is on the brink of death. Raghu tries to save him and tries to take him to the hospital but Satya denies. He tells him the truth that he loves Antara but is glad she is someone who loves her more than he does. He asks for forgiveness and dies in Raghu's arms.
The Aftermath:
Aman, escaped from the clutches of Daya Mai's men tells the police about the conspiracy. He is arrested for the bomb blast in Kashmir. Before going, he asks for forgiveness from Raghu & Antara who forgive him -- in the basti, Aaji finally comes home and although she is upset over her daughter and grandson dying, she is happy to see Raghu and Antara safe. Manohar is sent to jail for the conspiracies against Raghu and Antara as well whilst Raghu thanks Rasika (who is no longer lusting after Raghu after seeing him with Antara) as without her they would have died. Aaji finally approves of Rasika as her bahu (though they still have their funny moments) -- Raghu brings Antara's family back and in the meantime, Geeta has gotten better as it was Raghu who had told her what he had done before he went to find Antara, Geeta was forced to face the truth and realises Raghu was not at fault. She blesses Raghu and Antara. In front of the freed basti, they marry and Raghu and Antara talk about how he was not able to get revenge but it was Satya that did, and in that he lost his life. As Raghu puts sindoor on her forehead, they finally become Do Dil, Ek Jaan.
THE END.

So this was my idea of how Jaan should have gone (and ended because stories have to end one day) -
I've always thought Satya was more grey than negative, and was only misunderstood. I did think in the show he truly loves Antara but his hatred for Raghu (which was pushed by Daya Mai's schemes) was greater. As for the other characters such as Ruksana, I thought she was a useless character and was not needed. As for MachMach, I believe he would still be there but maybe he was sent for Antara's family protection in that place?
Sorry for the long post and yeah this is simply my ideas, would love for you to share your views too! :)
