Sorry if this topic has already been discussed earlier.

Amitabh Bachchan is doing a fiction series now, reportedly directed by Anurag Kashyap.

And Jaya Bachchan is also doing a fiction serial titled Vasundhara which is supposedly about a single parent managing her family.

Do you think Bachchans' serials can succeed?

Amitabh's even trying to look 20 years younger in his serial and is said to be playing some construction industry kingpin in it. While Jaya's serial is said to be woman oriented.

Would you be excited or even curious for their serials? Do you think they can manage successful stint in fiction on TV? (Reality shows are different ball game)

Or will they land up forgotten like Malini Iyer, Kamini Damini, Sahib Biwi Ghulam, Raghukul Reeti Sada Chali aayi type serials of other stars like Sridevi, Hema Malini, Rajesh Khanna etc.?

Your opinions please.

Apparently the shows are being co-produced by Bachchans themselves too.

Let the TVT viewers decide that. If the shows appeals to them then sure why not?

Let the promos come out first, then we can pass our opinions on it.

No doubt both are outstanding actors, so performance wise they will succeed. Rest is up to the storyline, direction and other factors. That's why I said we have to wait till the promos release at least.

I don't know if Amitabh can "shed" his image and be the character in his show. He's perfect in reality show format, but fiction's different. He seems too theatrical and loud to fit in a fictional serial on TV (he could probably be more tolerable in a mytho for theatrics are excused in such shows).

Jaya seems listless even for films nowadays. Her serial sounds bland and a take off from her character in Kal Ho Na Ho. Nowadays teens play bahus and women in 30s play saas in Indian TV shows. Where does this old and worn out looking woman seem to fit in?

I feel content-wise their shows will be less niche than Anil Kapoor's 24 so even "beyond ratings" argument won't help them. But Jaya's produced that wonderful Dekh Bhai Dekh in past so maybe they'll have better hang of Indian audiences' pulse.

I don't know if I'll be curious to watch them on TV because I feel they're overexposed anyway.

Wanted to know if others feel excited, enthused or even curious about their TV foray.

Isn't that supposed to be a good thing? For a change a woman will be playing a character her age. I find it refreshing. Tired of seeing 16 year old bahus and 30 year old Dadis. 😆

This is the first I'm hearing about Jaya's show but I know there's interest around AB's show. I don't know if I'll watch it, but some of my friends seem interested to see what this could mean for television. It's a limited episode format isn't it? I don't think I could be persuaded to watch anything on ITV because everything seems the same. And if there is something "innovative" or "game changing" it usually ends up being a disappointment.

There are viewers out there who enjoys the Saas Bahu crap so I personal respect there choices though I hate Saas Bahu Saga with passion. The 30 year old Saas and 16 year old Bahu been going around for awhile, I have seen Shwetha Tiwari played mother to actors her age in kasautii zindagii kay. Ankita is another one who been playing mother to girls her age. My favorite is the M&B concept of angry young man and Bubbly girls.
