Just married' Vidya faces 'bride to be' Kangna

By Joginder Tuteja, Dec 14, 2013 - 10:52 IST

It couldn't have been more coincidental than this. Coming February, two interesting films are expected to arrive on the same day at the box office. While one film narrates the tale of an excited bride-to-be, another is centered on a light hearted take on the perils of a marriage.

"The films in question are Queen and Shaadi Ke Side Effects," informs a source, "Former features Kangna as a simple small town blushing girl who is heard soliciting tips for her impending honeymoon. On the other hand, the latter features Vidya as a much mature woman who has passed through her stage of 'pyaar ke side effects' and is pretty much deep into marital-hood to reflect on 'shaadi ke side effects'."

Though the core subject of both films is the kind that could have lent a serious take on the state of affairs, credit should be given to the story tellers in question who have decided to use humour as the genre for the storytelling.

"Vikas Bahl had directed Chillar Party along with Nitesh Tiwari and even though it had a destitute boy as the focal element, the narrative never turned depressing. In the same manner, even though Queen tells the story of Kangna who doesn't find marriage to be a bed of roses, there is no melodrama in store, as has been well established through the First Look," informs an insider.

As for Shaadi Ke Side Effects, director Saket Chowdhary has already hit a boundary on his very first strike by coming up with a hilarious theatrical promo that has caught attention much before the film hits the screens.

"Vidya Balan and Farhan Akhtar share a sparkling chemistry together as parents of a newborn. Their story can well be termed as an extension of Queen," a source adds, "It is going to be one relationship driven weekend when both films arrive on 28th February."

One wonders that if only Gunday wouldn't have fixed its arrival for 14th February, Shaadi Ke Side Effects and Queen would just have been ideal candidates for Valentine's Day release.
