Hi, folks! Here is the next one. This one is a drabble! This is also a joint update. It covers the following requests.
Request by Arzaa01
Prompt: "Asad taking care of a sick, pregnant and moody Zoya. And Zoya being Zoya, she has to be stubborn. (she is pregnant and cannot take medicines for flu and Asad tries natural remedies much to Zoya's annoyance. She craves weirdest things. The combination of all this will drive Asad up the wall)"
Request by sweeetyrocs
Prompt: "Zoya showing Asad her mood swings during her pregnancy and troubling him...and Asad being a total Asad."
---
Zoya was fed up.
She was more than fed up. She was completely over it. Was this baby ever going to be born?
She was five days over her due date and she just wanted to go into labor already. She was so done with feeling like a baby beluga whale and not being able to see her feet. She was over people ringing her every day asking if she was in labor yet. She'd answered the phone, so the answer was pretty self-explanatory, she thought. Not she wasn't! Duh uh!
And now, she was not only pregnant but sick as well. With a cold of all things!
Stuffy throat, aching nose with all the sneezing, watering eyes, AND overdue pregnancy blues. Wonderful.
So, yeah she was just fed up.
Zoya found herself snapping at Asad, and then apologizing. Asad would just let her be, not taking it personally. He gave her back rubs and massaged her aching feet and readied steams for her cold . He was being a total sweetheart and Zoya felt guilty for taking her bad moods out on him.
She was in one of her moods when Asad entered their room.
"How are you feeling, love?" he made the mistake of asking her the question.
"Me? Oh just peachy. It's just your stubborn child who refuses to get out and I have the cold. I am perfectly fine, except that I have to go to the bathroom every five minutes and it takes me more than that to just get off the bed. My ribs are sore from your baby's kicks. And now my throat is also sore, my nose is blocked, my entire body hurts when I sneeze and there is nothing that I can do because I can't take the damn medicines that would have immediate effects! Guess why? Because you knocked me up! So yeah, I am perfectly fine!"
She was breathing heavily as she finished her rant and Asad was standing there staring at his wife. He did not say anything, just stood there. He was used to her rants now. And he simply waited for her to cool down which he knew was going to happen in just a few minutes. And sure enough, she cooled down and was soon an emotional, blubbering mess.
"Asad!" she cried, "I am sorry. I didn't--I am just so uncomfortable! Why did I have to be sick? I was some drugs, please! Any! I just--!"
Asad sighed and sat next to Zoya and brought her close to him. He repeated the conversation they had had a million times.
"Zoya, you know! You are too far long in your pregnancy to risk taking any drugs." He placed a kiss on her forehead as she whimpered, sneezed, and then moaned as she settled against his chest.
"Do you want me to get you the nasal spray and saline water? Or we could try the steam again." he said.
Zoya groaned, "Asad, if you value your life, do not mention those again. I am sick of those things. I can't it anymore. I feel like an old blip, using that spray!" as she growled at her husband, so did her ever hungry stomach.
Asad chuckled at his stubborn and ravenous wife, "Well than, wifey, what do you and our little tyke want for the after dinner snack today?" praying that it wasn't one of her weird cravings.
"Ummm," she thought, "Oh! I know! Do we have nutella? And salt pretzels? Yumm."
And no such luck, Asad Miyan!
Well at least it wasn't mashed potatoes with caramel sauce this time. Yes, she ate that once.
As Asad went to get her delicacy of choice, Zoya shifted in the bed, blew her nose, cursed everyone and anyone and then sweet-talked her unborn baby into coming out.
"Sweetheart, you can't stay in there forever, you know," she said to her huge stomach. "Abbu's anxious to meet you too. Come on baby, get a move on." Unfortunately, no amount of coaxing these past few days had worked and the baby was happily ensconced in her womb.
Over the last few days, Zoya had been trying all the old wives' tales that claimed to help induce labor. Asad had simply shook his head and laughed when she asked him to take her for a drive along the bumpiest road they could find. Even though it was more difficult and awkward now, but she had demanded sex every day in the hope the hormones would do the trick, and wasn't sex also supposed to be a good flu and pain reliever? Well, it hadn't made a difference but Asad was certainly enjoying trying it. People had suggested drinking castor oil, but even she wasn't that desperate.
Asad came back to the room and gave his wife her treat. As she ravished her snack, Asad rubbed her back slowly and softly as she leaned against his chest. Asad wanted to be able to do so much more for her but could not and it frustrated him to no end.
"Mmm" she moaned, "This feels good," she referred to his gentle massage.
Asad kissed her on the forehead, and, after she had devoured her weird choice of food, he picked her up in his arms and carried her to the bathroom. For once, she didn't protest at being carried like she usually did. She really was very tired and uncomfortable. He helped her wash up a little and change into her pajamas and then brought her back to their bed.
They moved to lay beside each other. She pressed her body against his and tried to get as comfortable as possible in her state, and Asad willingly wrapped his arms around her, holding her close to him.
" ... love you, Asad."
He didn't know whether she was talking in her sleep, or whispering him a final message before she fell into a deep slumber, but he really didn't care.
Asad kissed her forehead once more.
"Love you, too, Zoya."
-end-
How was it?
I know it was sort of short. I have written a similar story before, minus Zoya being sick. Check that out as well, if you haven't read it! Here is the link:
