Part 19 - Love has no barriers

And for those who felt every story has to have a twist. No; not at all. I wanted the confession and the depth of love to come out really well. It is a fact that we speak and do things from heart in dire situations. After all, as someone said, the most sincere prayers arise not in temples, but in hospitals.
Niranjan had arrived. "Avdhoot. Don't worry I will immediately speak to the chief doctor here. Even if Astha requires a specialist I will have him flown from any part of the world." He wanted to go and see Astha but Anjali silently mouthed "No. Shlok."
Niranjan left with Astha's parents to speak to the specialist and the chief doctor immediately.
"Astha. Astha please open your eyes. Am sorry, terribly sorry for bringing you to this state. I love you Astha. Please get up for me. I don't think there's anything left for me if you aren't around. Open your eyes dammit! Can't you hear me? I - Love- You!"
A lone tear escaped her eyes. It fell on Shlok's other hand which was on the bed, near her. He immediately stopped to see her tear drop. Her eyes fluttered slowly and she opened her eyes. She gave him a faint smile. "So finally you accept."
His own tears started after that. The emotions he had been holding came out unchecked. "Don't you dare leave me." He placed a soft kiss on her lips and they tasted their own tears. It was a bittersweet moment with a little pain and lots of happiness.
For the two sets of parents and the doctor who were witnessing all this at the door, a relived smile spread on their faces. Avdhoot and Niranjan hugged each other. Kalindi offered her heartfelt thanks to her Bappa. The doctor informed them Astha should be under observation for two days. She was otherwise fine and they could take her back home after 48 hours.
Shlok came out and saw all the them with a cheerful and grateful smile on their faces. Kalindi and Avdhoot went in to see their daughter.
"Baba...woh...I like Astha and..."
"Shlok muje sab patha hai. Woh meri beti jaisi thi lekin abhi beti bankar aayegi." He hugged his parents and was grateful for their acceptance.
Niranjan spoke to Avdhoot and Kalindi after they came out. "Aapko bhi patha Shlok aur Astha ke baare mein. I think we should have the engagement for these two along with Varad and Sojal. If you accept Avdhoot." He finished with a smile.
Avdhoot and Kalindi were pleasantly shocked. They did not see this coming before today. They were very happy for Astha. Avdhoot immediately stepped towards Niranjan. "Arre aisa nahin. Aap humein sharminda math keejiye. Astha aapki beti hain. Abhi mein kya keh saktha hoon?"
The ladies also shared a brief hug after which Niranjan and Anjali started back home. Shlok refused to go from the hospital without Astha. She was shifted to a private room and thankfully appeared to be normal.
"Beta we will go and get something to drink for Astha. You stay with her." Avdhoot and Kalindi left the love birds alone and went down.
Shlok sat besides Astha and gently kissed her hands. They looked into each other's eyes and shared a secret smile. "Shlok were you really scared?"
"Yes."
"Why?" She wanted to hear his love once more.
Shlok smirked and answered "I finally managed to hook a girl, that too a pretty one. I didn't want to start all over again."
"Kamina." Astha hit him on his chest and they laughed, secure in their love.
