After a long time the CVs are showing something sensible. My fear is that as usual they will not be able to hold this sensible line of thought for long. However, till the going is good, here are a few of my thoughts on the current track -
RK's attraction for Madhu was not so much physical as it was emotional. He fell in love with the girl who made him the centre of her universe and proved to him that she can go to any lengths for him. That is exactly what he wanted in his emotionally barren life. He knew that his mother also loves him to bits but her love never gave him the emotional security he craved because she never put him above her other relationships. Madhu did that and also seemed to understand his insecurities instinctively. She gave RK a home to come back to.
RK being RK still kept his ego above his feelings and did the blunder of unwedding. He regretted it immediately and panicked when he saw the possibility of another man in Madhu's life. So he forced her to come back to him and was doubly grateful when she forgave him and continued to love him as before.
They married and expected to live a life filled with love together. However, RK was disappointed in Madhu almost immediately when Sultan continued to interfere in their lives and Madhu stood up for him. He realised that Madhu's understanding of his feelings isn't really as good as he had thought. She had a tunnel vision through which she could only see what is there in front of her eyes but could not understand the emotional undercurrents around her. She made huge blunders in Sultan's case and also later when RK was banned and then paralysed.
On paper, whatever Madhu did for RK was wonderful but reading between the lines shows how badly she handled things. She supported RK when he was banned but made things difficult for him during the shoots with her immaturity. She pampered RK when he was paralysed but didn't understand the insecurities that came with the paralysis for a man like RK. A small example - she told RK that she will make soup for him after the shooting but when the shooting got delayed, instead of telling the servants or Radhaji to make soup for RK, she came back way past dinnertime and then proceeded to make the soup because that was her love for him. Never realising that it was not soup that RK wanted but her constant reassurances that she is there for him even when she isn't at home.
When RK broke the glass at the party she started picking it up herself instead of letting the servant do it. That is the whole problem with her character. She doesn't realise that as the woman of the house her job is not to pick up the glass pieces but to understand why it broke in the first place. A wife understands every nuance, every small expression on her husband's face but Madhu understands nothing till it is not clearly spelt out to her.
This continued immaturity on Madhu's part coupled with his ego being hit by her sudden stardom has broken down the emotional security that RK felt with her. He knows that she still loves him with all her heart but then so does his mother. Just like his mother's love was useless for him, now Madhu's love has also become useless as it only makes him feel emotionally dissatisfied and lonely.
He has told Madhu again and again that he hates her playing God in their relationship. But she still carries on with her 'main sab theek kar doongi' and 'main tumhare liye kya kar sakti hoon?' jaap. RK saying that he wants space should have set the alarm bells ringing in her head because RK is an 'everything or nothing' kind of person. However, she is still functioning with blinkers on.
If RK gets attracted to Ria in future, it will not be physical attraction but again psychological. Because he will see himself in her. Without even seeing her face, he got intrigued by her diary. He is in a place where he desperately needs a friend, and his only friend Bittooji is too much of a Madhu sympathiser to understand him.
There is a tussle going on inside RK at present where he wants to get away from Madhu but also feels guilty for wanting to. This is not junoon, this is life after the heady feeling of junooni love has passed. The honeymoon is over. The first flush of love is gone and it hasn't left sweet companionship behind but bitter disappointment.
RM is dead. Now there are two individuals trying to live together. I only like RK among the two now, so I'm still following the show to see his journey from here on. I know that eventually the CVs will make RK realise his 'mistake' and go back to Madhu, but it won't give me any pleasure. I'm just not interested in this relationship anymore.
