Ok...pls forgive this chapter...its utterly boring...i feel asleep typing it...and when my husband woke me up...i just typed whatever I felt like...

CHAPTER 7: The FIRST SIGN OF MADNESS

M was ecstatic. He had the simple solution and the way to execute his solution. He asked the programmer to wait and rushed to VB's room. He was very eager to tell him the plan and the execution methodology as well.

As he neared VBs room and saw the baby pink curtains billowing in the wind, he slowed down to a stop. He remembered that VB thought the baby pink was a sizzling colour, and that any plan which involved mocking the colour and eventually changing it may not go down very well with him.

He was hugely frustrated. He wanted to barge into the room and yell at the top of his voice that "Baby Pink as a colour representing a sizzler is like calling Katrina one of the finest actresses of today".

But of course he couldn't. He needed to approach this with tact and finesse. So he went back to his desk and asked the programmer to go. He said he would send for her soon, since he had another work coming up. The programmer was less than thrilled to hear that, and went home.

As M paced near his desk, he saw Q go into VB's room. He knew he had an ally of sorts in Q, since she too hated the baby pink and wanted another colour.

He wondered if he could approach her with this plan and the resultant benefit of changing the sizzler colour. He was sure that after a couple of dances (gulp) VB would be more than ready to implement the plan.

He saw Q go back to her own room and seized the opportunity to go up to her. He said "Q, I need to speak with you."

She looked up indifferently...and raised her eyebrows in question. M said, "Q, please hear me out before reacting." Now that got her interested. She turned her full attention to him.

M said, "Remember the sizzler colour? Well I think we have a solution for it that's linked to the MS".

At the mention of the MS, Q began losing her temper. She had absolutely no interest in the MS. VB's life seemed dedicated to the MS and moping about it. She started reacting. "I have no interest..." M cut her off, "Q!! You said you would hear me out."

Q sighed. "Go on," she said. M told her about the solutions to both the issues and how they were inter-related. He told her, "Now I need to tell VB this, but you know how fond he is of the baby pink colour. To convince him to implement this plan, I will need him to understand that the baby pink needs to be replaced by a better colour. And I don't think, he may agree with me there. That's why I need your help Q, to convince him of this."

Q was torn between laughing at his temerity to ask her for help and the opportunity to get rid of the baby pink colour.

The hatred for the colour, and the opportunity to suggest new exciting colours won over her chagrin over M asking her to help him ( How could he !!!)

So she said in a carefully bored voice, "And what do you suppose I should be doing?"

M completely missed the bored inflection in her voice, and was delighted that she was his co-conspirator. "You should somehow convince VB to change the colour after I tell him of the plan. I know you will be able to somehow convince him of the same."

"Ok fine", said Q. M wanted to dance and let himself get carried away momentarily. "So deal?" he asked stretching his hand out for a handshake.

Q was shocked. She gave him a look which promised him, a tight slap, a kick on the backside and torn limbs all at once. Thankfully M correctly interpreted the look, and stepped away.

M then went on to VB's room and announced, "I have the perfect plan for the MS, VB,".

VB looked up from his moping. His features were drawn. His eyes were bloodshot and he had lost a lot of weight.

He tried to control the hope from leaping into his eyes. "What plan?" he asked.

M explained his grand plan. He came to the part where the sizzler colour would be unveiled and there would unrest. "Unrest? Why would there be unrest?" asked VB.

"Well...the sizzler colour...is..." He looked desperately at Q. Q briefly contemplated ignoring him and feigning shock herself, when she remembered his impudent "deal". But then her abhorrence of the baby pink for sizzler won over this intention.

She said, "Baby, the colour is not sizzling enough. There are many new, improved sizzling colours which have come up, which sizzle more than baby pink," she said.

"And once they revolt against it, and we divert Mini's attention by making him a sizzler, we can happily change the colour to the new exciting sizzling colour," said M.

"Is this your plan?'' thundered VB. "Your whole plan rests on people creating a riot since they don't like the baby pink colour. Just because you don't think it's a good colour, how can you automatically assume that no one will like it?"

M beseeched Q with his eyes. Q said, "Baby, it's really not an appropriate colour. Looking at the kind of people we have as members of this kingdom, and their propensity to protest about anything and everything, I am quite sure that we would have a problem on hand." "Even if you feel it won't make a big issue, why can't we change it?"

VB was hurt. He turned away and stared unseeingly through the windows at the vast palace gardens. He had used that colour for her...in her honour and she could not see his love in that. She was talking about other sizzling colours. He didn't care about any other colour. He had chosen baby pink since Q sizzled in that colour in his opinion. He had declared that the colour was dedicated to her, and had worn his heart on his sleeve, and she...he felt himself tearing up.

M and Q looked at each other. M wished VB would stop behaving like a lovesick fool and think of the MS.

Q wished VB would stop behaving like a lovesick fool and would change the sizzler colour. "This VB was too emotional," she thought.

There was an awkward silence in the room. M wondered whether he should step out and let VB Q resolve this. But at the back of his mind, he felt that the resolution would involve a dance by Q and he wanted to watch. So he stood there.

Finally Q said, "Baby, this really is not such a big deal. I cannot see you mope like this. You are wasting away. I want you to be the strong VB you were when you brushed away Mini and called that lot Venom Vendors. If M's solution can get rid of this MS, then I will get my old VB back, and that's all I want," she exhorted. "And a new sizzler colour", she thought.

VB was moved. His Q needed him. He needed to be strong for her. He turned around, and hugged her. "As you wish Q. I agree that I need to take this to closure. And I am going to do that."

"But what about the dance?" spluttered M. "What dance?" asked VB Q in unison.

"I mean the fans", said M. "What fans", asked VB Q. They were mystified by M's behavior. "Nothing", said M.

"So let's go ahead and implement the plan. I want to put the plan in action and take this issue to closure", said VB grandly.

"You want to do all this? You moper!!!," thought M angrily. But then VB had the vision to start the kingdom which M did not. So M bore this sudden usurping of ownership stoically, and wondered what he should next.

Now VB had agreed to this plan only and only due to the exceptional emotional blackmail skills of Q, but deep down he did believe that baby pink was a sizzling colour. Really. That's the truth.

So he suggested that they have a limited release of the baby pink colour and see the reaction. This could be done randomly or to a focus group. Now a focus group would probably not work, since it would not take the masses off guard and that was important for the plan to be successful.

As a result, a couple of odds were roped in to discuss this discretely with a couple of their friends and see the reactions. Their reactions to the colour gave M a very deep and profound sense of satisfaction. He was now confident of the plan.

The odds selected a few choice friends they had. These friends were obviously people who were very close to becoming sizzlers.

M eavesdropped on the conversations. They went like this:

Odd (O): Wow you are soon going to become a sizzler"

Going to be sizzler (GTBS): "Ya, I am so excited. I wonder what colour we will be. I think that should be out soon no?"

O: " Ya...I kind of have some inside news on the colour"

GTBS: " What? tell no yaa...is it orange? Is it ebony black?"

O: " Closer to the pinks yaa".

GTBS: "Oooh...so is it magenta? Wine red?"

O: " Er...maybe a bit lighter."

GTBS: "Lighter? What do you mean? It's a sizzler colour right?"

O: " Err...yaa...but light colours can also sizzle."

GTBS: " What rubbish...which light shades of pink sizzle yaa...tell me...English rose? Candy pink? Baby pink?" she gave a wild laugh after that. " You are joking right?" She had a wild look in her eye

O: " He he he, yaa...I am joking".

GTBS: " Ha ha ha, you scared me for a minute. So what's the colour?"

O: "I don't know really. I was joking about the inside information as well."

Conversation two:

And here I am giving you only the important bits and not the bits about Hrithik Roshan's body vs. Aamir Khan's body in Dhoom ( I mean is there even a comparison there!!!)

O2: "What do you think of these colours for sizzler? Peacock Blue, Baby pink, Coral red."

GTBS2: "Baby Pink for sizzler? You out of your mind? I hope they don't include you in the selection committee for colours."

O2: " Err... I gave some other colours as well didn't I?"

GTBS2: ( traumatized by the thought of baby pink, didn't even hear O2) " I am going to go crazy if its baby pink. We have tolerated a lot or ordinary colours, but if they are going to give us baby pink...I will really lose it."

O2: Yelling: "I SUGGESTED OTHER COLOURS AS WELL DIDN'T I?"

GTBS2: " What ? Oh yaa...the other colours are fine. But how can you even think of baby pink yaa? You just spoilt my mood...etc etc etc...

M had heard enough. He would let VB know the results of his limited release. The first signs of madness had started. In no time it would snowball into complete lunacy.

So I promise that the next chapter will be better. Pls think of this as a filler episode of IPK where Arshi did random Rabba Ves to distract us while the writers figured out the next of Shyams devious ( NOT) plans
