Chapter 2

Many people had gathered in the house!! indeed it was Mr gaffur siddiqui, who was no more..zoya was numb the whole time hugging her dadi and razia was showing a face of sadness only to the outside world, but kept calculating things in her mind,.. she had to get to the will.
Gaffur was a very respectable man!! man of principles.. he was honored for his behaviour, people respected him, indeed he had a good reputation.. they came to give him a final solitude... Yes he was no more.. he had been suffering from the past 22 years, though he had married razia, had zoya and his mother next to him, he felt lonely.. he was in love immensely!! in love with zainab which tore him apart for all these years, he treated zoya like a princess, gave her all the luxury... and love but he was never loved... he was in pain when he realized that zoya never got a motherly love from razia... razia had been showing fake love towards her, he found out one day.. he heard razia speak to her brother about gaining the property, he then realized what big mistake he had done!! that was it for him, he went back into his darkest room where he spent most of his time, he remained there forever, into the dark... .

zoya had no strength to even stand on her feet!! just a few days back, she found her abbu so happy and contended, he had given her a surprise party for her birthday in spite being the same day he lost his wife, at that moment, all he cared was for his daughter, he even decided to get her married... he had transferred all his property on her name... that was it,,. razia started with her plan of actions... though she had 10% stake in the property, she wanted the whole kingdom to herself!!and gaffur out of guilt lost himself into the darkness forever learning razia's intentions!!

zoya was lying down on her dadi's lap..
'zoya beta' she said in a low voice hiding her pain... she kept caressing zoya's hair..
'dadi, sab mjhe chodkar kyun chale gaye... pehle ammi, aur ab, abbu bhi.. kyun dadi... kyun???' she kept weeping hugging her dadi... she was the only one for her right now.
'beta... tumhare abbu ka saath yehi tak likha tha' said dadi, trying to console zoya
' kya wo mujhse pyaar nahi karte, mujhe yun akela chodkar chale gaye'
'nahi beta.. aisa nahi.. tumhare abbu tumse bohot pyaar karte hai.. shayad allah ko yehi manzoor tha.. shayad tumhare abbu ko tumhare ammi ke paas jaana tha' she said controling her tears...
'toh main yaha kya kar rahi hoon... main bhi..' dadi cut her off...
'aise na bolte beta.. ye allah ki marzi hai.. humara nahi... waise chalo beta, kal se kuch nahi khaya tune.. chalo khuch khalo' dadi pleaded zoya...
'nahi dadi... main abbu ke karme main ja rahi hoon.. i want to spend some time there.. please dadi' asked zoya.. and dadi obliged knowing that she needed some time alone, to come out of her trance...

The Khan Mansion was noisy as usual, with banters from ayan, though he was the neighbor, he spent most of his time in Asad's house...
it was a typical Sunday!! happiness surrounded the neighborhood, everyone were seated in the garden area...
Asad hated noise and parties and games, but he never backed off his every sunday party wherein both asad and ayan's families joined together, for some reason he liked being a part, though her never contributed to the games or noises and laughter or the banters... sunday's were always special, the two families were very close.. they had a common garden area, play area and a pool, it mostly looked like one big premises..they had barbeque's set, except , they had two different houses in one big premises...
Dilshad, Asad's mother was a single mother, she lost her husband in a very young age, her son had taken up all the responsibilities, the head of a family would take!!
Mr Imam, ayan's dad helped dilshad during her toughest times, when she lost her husband, by giving her moral support and dilshad too supported them when Imam and shireen got married, they had no home and hence stayed at dilshad's house for a few years,Imam and dilshad were college friends, Imam was a role model for asad. asad always learnt from him, he was the man asad adored and wanted to be like him, and indeed was successful in becoming as famous and as successful as Imam... Imam had not got all this success that easily, he started from the scratch!! from zero, from the time he got married to shireen, he set his goal and he was here!! to his goal!!
shireen, had married Imam against her family's will, Imam had no penny when she married him, she was always a pillar of strength to him... his success had a touch of her trust!! she was the woman behind his success... helping him and motivating him in all turbulent times.
shireen and dilshad had a bond that was stronger than a bond siblings would have...
najma, Asad's little sister, was a pampered kid... but she respected her brother's decisions, asad was a father figure for her as well as to ayan...
ayan was a crazy guy and a spoiled brat but always obliged asad... though asad had looked upto Imam as his role model, he only learnt from Imam but he struggled himself to get all the success, and Imam always let asad struggle and comeup in life... like he did.. though they had separate business, and were competitors.. their business was only upto business, they never mingled business and personal life
Asad and Ayan were childhood friends... as years passed by, they bonded well... ayan and najma always fought like how siblings would.. asad had to take control of such situations.
The Sunday party was full of fun as usual... shireen and dilshad were clearing out the dishes
'main bohot khush hoon shireen, mere bacche khush lag rahe hai, aur hum sab saath hai... bas mere asad thoda badal jaye bas, mujhe aur kuch nahi chahiye... '
'haan dilshad, Imam hamesha khehte hai, ki beta ho toh asad jaisa lekin asad kabhi bhi nahi hasta hai, nahi khelta, bachpan main kitna shararatey karta tha.. ab toh bilkul badag gaya...'
'kash wo pehle jaisa ban jaye... hasta khelta asad, itne zimmedaron ke beech aisa ban gaya, mera beta' said dilshad controling her tears,
'Oho dilshad, phirse ye aanson... bilkul chup, ab rona nahi' shireen tried to calm her down
'dekhna dilshad, asad pehle jaisa ban jayega.. zaroor, jab usse kisise mohobbat hoga' said shireen to cheer up dilshad and dilshad chuckled at her comment...
'mera beta aur mohabbat... aaj tak koi ladki ko dekha tak nahi... nahi koi girlfriends hai' she said laughing
'girlfriends?? ye lo,... agar girlfriends hote toh, we could have played cupid!! kyun??' laughed shireen
'cupid!! i wish we could, kaash koi chamatkar hojaye aur mere darwazey par asad ka dulhan aajaye'
'kaash' said shireen... the two ladies were engrossed when Imam came forward...
'agar tum ladies ka talk khatam hogaya ho toh kya mujhe thoda ice milega,, wo kya hai na bhopal main garmi bohot hai, upar se biwi itni hot' said imam looking at shireen...smirking
'imam.. aap bhi na... abhi bhi aise hi hai, flirt karna nahi chodenge, jaisa baap, waisa beta' shireen said rolling her eyes while dilshad was controlling her laughter
'theek kaha shireen, imam saab toh college main bhi aise hi the,... king of flirt.. abhi inko dekhkar koi keh sakta hai, ye itna bada business man hai' dilshad said smirking at imam
They started their talks, this is how the two families were,.. one thing commom was fun, laughter and lighthearted talks...
'asad miyan, chalo, lets play basket ball' asked ayan, while he got a glare from asad
'ayan, 2 din bhi nahi hua aur tum phirse??' asad asked lifting his eyebrows
'kyu??? arre asad miya.. bet nahi kar raha hoon... betting game aur tumhara saath,.. ' he chuckled saying
' its like getting into a lion's den' laughed out ayan, asad gave a disgusting look to him and got back to reading his novel...
' ye story book side main rakho aur common man!! lets play' said ayan in a cool dude tone..
' for your kind information, isse story book nahi.. novel kehte hai, ayan miya.. waise these are out of your reach' smirked asad
'oh really??' said ayan, najma come over and pleaded her bhaijaan to jain the match..
'please bhaijaan, come lets play, this monkey is a cheater!! i dont wana play with him... aap ayiye please'
'najma just shut up okay.. By the way its 7-1 okay...' ayan said stressing on the wrong scores
'no ways,.. my score is 11 not 1, you loser and urs is 0 as always' screamed najma near ayan's ears
'im not deaf najma' ayan said in a danger voice
'that's it!! comeon lets play... let me see, who wins this time' asad said,.. rolling his eyes at their fight
asad obliged looking at their fight and played along with them,.. it was a tiring day... the next day was going to be hectic... asad and imam had to resume to his office... like always ayan had to roam around bhopal, like he owned it!!
...

The storm hit NewYork... and the life of zoya... she was shattered, sitting on the floor, resting her haid on the rocking chair in her abbu's dark room.. now her life had become dark, just like his life had... she heard the door knob turn and razia came in followed by her brother...
zoya wiped her tears and looked at her
'zoya, tumhare abbu ka aakhri khwaish tha ki tum nikah karo' razia said stressing on nikah
'lekin ammi, itni jaldi... main abhi nikah nahi kar sakti' she said lookin down
razia came up to her and pulled her hair,
'tumhe mere bhai ke saath nikah karna hoga. bas.. nikah parso hoga... ' razia said in a dangerous voice while her brother akram looked at zoya with lust!! zoya turned away from him giving a disguisting look... razia announced it and went away pulling her brother along with her, while his eyes were glued on zoya...
zoya hated akram,. akram would come to meet his sister every summer from the past 2 years, zoya never really got along with him, she hated the way he looked at her with eyes full of lust!! she hated such men!!
zoya was shocked at razia's announcement... dadi had heard the whole conversation and decided to confront razia...

'razia!!! yeh kya badtameezy hai...' razia turned around to give her a devilish look
' tum zoya ko force nahi kar sakte ho, abhi abhi uske abbu ka maut hua hai aur tum' before dadi could say anything, razia held her neck and pushed her towards the wall...
'budhiya... tum is maamle se door raho, warna tumhe bhi wahi jaana hoga jahan tumhara beta gaya hai' she said in a dangerous voice hurting dadi...
' uss bacchi ko chodo... mere bete ki khatir' dadi pleaded
'bete?? huh... tumhare uss bete ne kabhi bhi mujhe ek biwi ka darja nahi diya... itne saal main iss ghar main rahi hoon,... aur iske liye mujhe sirf aur sirf 10% stake milega property main' screamed razia strangling dadi...
'main ye pehle se jaanti thi, tumhara nazar sirf property pe hai' dadi tried hard to speak between breaths..
'haan!! sahi suna tune,... agar wo mere bhai se nikah karegi toh, poora property humara hoga...'
'aisa nahi hoga... main aisa hone nahi doongi' dadi struggled to get out of her hands... but she failed...
'aisa hi hoga budhiya, wo kisi aur se nikah nahi kar sakti hai... ' she said leaving dadi there and stormed out of the living room, dadi collapsed... she had no strength to stand...
' ya allah mujhe takat dena meri bacchi ko hifazat karne ke liye... usse yaha se jaana hoga...' dadi thought... she struggled hard and called gaffur's lawyer and asked him to send the will papers of the property as soon as possible... with all her might she walked upto her room and she caressed and old antique box, which contained some old photos and some jewellery, she took out a paper and started writing, and she folded the paper into an envelope, she had no strength in her left, she kept praying allah to keep her alive for some more time... once she was done she went to gaffur's room where she saw a heart wrenching sight... zoya was caressing her parents photo along with her, it was taken on the day she was born, she kept weeping,.. dadi went upto her struggling to walk and collapsed next to her...
'dadi... dadi... are you okay' zoya said weeping...
' main theek hoon beti... suno, mere paas zyada waqt nahi nai...
'shhh.. aise mat bolo dadi please...' cried zoya...
' yehi haqeekat hai beta... dekho, razia tumhe nahi chodegi... tum yaha se chali jao' dadi said... her eyes heavy... ready to close for ever
'aise mat bolo dadi.. main aapko chodkar nahi jaa sakti' zoya said crying. dadi handed her the old antique box with an envelope and the will papers...
' dadi ye sab' zoya asked confused...
' meri baat dhyaan se suno... tum India jaoge... tumhere phupi ke paas...main nahi jaanti ki wo kaha hai, lekin itna jaanti hoon ki wo bhopal main hi hai... , aur tumhe waha jaana hai... humare aur unke beech bohot darar hai... 22 saal se ek dusre se baat tak nahi kiya... wo tumhare abbu se naraz hai bati.. aur tmhare abbu bhi usse naraz hai, kyunki wo bhagkar nikah kiya tha... us din se humare parivaar ke beech dooriyan paida hua... aaj tak kam nahi hua, tum yaha se jao beta.. aur ye khat aur ye purane tasweer unhe pehchane ka nishaan hai... yaha tumhare liye khatra hai,, chale jao yaha se...' dadi said in low tone
'lekin main unhe kaise dhoondungi... aur agar wo mujhe nahi apnaye toh' zoya said worried
' meri beti zarror naraz hai apne bhaijaan se, lekin agar usse pata chalega na, ki unki ek beti hai, toh zaroor apnayegi... ye khat usse dena jab wo tumhe miljayegi'
'lekin aapko chodkar kaise jaungi'
' tumhare dadi ki kasam.. ab utho aur ye sab lekar jao.. tumhara paasport abbu ke drawer main hoga... aur card leke jao... utho aur jao' dadi said as she pushed zoya away...
' dadi lekin'
'meri kasam hai tumhe.. jao beta, mere paas waqt nahi hai ab... jao' as she said that she closed her eyes for ever... zoya hugged her and cried loud, she could not leave her dadi alone, she decided to finish all the formalities of her dadi and then leave... she cursed her fate for playing such a game...
razia was happy at dadi's loss, little did she know dadi had planned zoya's safety before she left... all the formalities were done... it was night time... zoya has booked her flight tickets to India.. she somehow sneaked out of the house and rushed to the airport,,,.
as the flight took away, memories from NewYork flooded her mind.. she had tears in her eyes... she had come a long way.. now how will she find her phupi in an unknown city... what hurdles she'll have to face.. everthing was unanswered!! she closed her eyes and drifted to sleep... her destiny was waiting for her!!
