T-Series slaps legal notice on YouTube

A grab of YouTube where copyrighted contents of T-Series are uploaded without permission or licence

Music company T–Series has slapped a legal notice on Google India, charging its subsidiary YouTube of violating the Indian Infringement of Copyrights Act, 1957, by illegally posting audio-visuals of their copyrighted songs online.

Apart from T–Series Public Performance Licence division (TPPL), the Indian Music Industry (IMI), a representative body of various Indian music companies, had also slapped a notice to Google India for similar infringements.

Said M M Satish, president, TPPL, "Despite many letters and legal notices, YouTube continues to permit the uploading of content owned by us worth crores.

The presence of this easily downloadable and free content owned by us on YouTube's site amounts to an infringement."

What notice?

A spokesperson for YouTube said she was unaware of any such legal notice. "We do not control the content on our site.

Our users post content on YouTube that includes videos, comments and ratings.

Our site carries a clear message that says users must own or have permission from copyright-holders to post any videos," she said.

She elaborates, "There is a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) global standard form available on our site, which can be filled by anyone who wants to bring an infringement on our site to our notice.

On receiving the form, we instantly pull down the particular content from the site."

Said Satish, "The DMCA has been formulated in the US. We go by India Copyright Law, according to which the infringement has occurred."

On youtube.com

Google-owned YouTube allows netizens to easily upload and share video clips across the Internet through websites, blogs and e-mails.

It currently delivers more than 100 million video views every day with 65,000 new videos uploaded daily and is the leading destination online for video entertainment.

Actually T-Series cannot blame YouTube.. There are so many who upload videos in YouTube and they cannot keep checking if its copy right violation or not..

T-Series sueing someone of copyright violations..that is really a joke[HASNA][HASNA]HASNA]. T-series is to sell nothing but remixes of other's songs and "tributes' to some jewels by making new upcoming singers singing their songs .
