CHAPTER : 10.1 : GIRL POWER😉!
Jiji , please sit still ... STOP PACING - you're giving me a head-ache! , Jai complained, but Manyata was too tensed to acknowledge her. From the time Nirmal, the bank-clerk phoned Manyata this morning ... she has been worrying non-stop. To make matters worse - she couldn't get through to Uday!
Mum-mum, mum-mum , Udita told and tried to push her hand into Jai's dress. The child felt that any female , could give her what she wanted, but Jai's shrill shriek frightened her and she started crying. Awww, my Princess is hungry - come Baccha, Mamma will feed you! ,Manyata consoled her daughter and began feeding her. Jiji - I think u need to stop breast-feeding COMPLETELY. I mean Udita is more than a year old now - she's a big girl ... she must eat appropriate foods - for growing children! Also - in 3 months time, Virat will be here ... then you'll be breast-feeding him. Jiji - u need to start thinking about your body ... with the rate u and Jijusa are BREEDING - you'll be breast-feeding forever ... your figure will be gone to the dogs - your boobs will sag and ... , Jai went on and on with her lecture.
Jai - stop, OK. Uday and I are not "breeding" .. and there will be no more after Virat, Manyata explained. Yeah right - by the time u both turn 30 ... you'll would've made at least half-dozen kids! , Jai hit back.
Oh no - why is it that u 2 sisters are always on , on the same topic? , Unnati told as she entered Manyata's room. I hope the subject is now closed, she continued before making herself comfortable on her sister's in law' bed. Hi Unnati , Manyata kissed her nanad ... have u heard from Uday?
Jai smacked her fore-head : Jiji ... can u go 2 minutes without thinking of Jijusa? Before Manyata could answer, Unnati spoke up : Bhabhisa - I did speak to Dada last night, he said that the attendants at the bank were hassling around ... but he will deal personally with the bank manager and he'll have your money on time. You must not stress over it as this MONEY-MATTER is now HIS RESPONSIBILITY! Manyata looked relieved and explained how worried she was when she couldn't contact Uday. Awww Bhabhisa - you know for the past 3 days - it's been raining very heavily in Jaigarh ... perhaps THAT has messed with the phone-lines. I'm sure once it's restored - Dada will call you!
OK -OK ... now enough serious talk ; let's go shopping! , Jai excitedly pitched her idea of retail-therapy. However , her sister found the idea , atrocious! How can u think of shopping Jai, especially when we have a financial-crisis on our hands!
Uff Jiji - have u ever heard of window-shopping? Jai asked. That's what we'll do ... we will LOOK but NOT PURCHASE! , she explained and Manyata agreed. AWESOME! I just love shopping , Jai beamed and Udita jumped excitedly upon hearing the word "shopping" . Bhabhisa - Baby takes after Jai there ... , Unnati nudged Manyata and both shared a private laugh.
As Manyata descended the stairs, she missed 1 - and ...
Sambhalke Manyata Bhai , Vijay saved her in the nick of time. Manyata was too shocked to react, but did manage to mumble : Uday was right ... the stairs are dangerous for me! Ya Manyata Bhai ... if something happened to you - Uday Banna would murder me! Then poor Unnati would remain a spinster! , Vijay said, but got a back-handed smack on his arm from Unnati.
Vijay Bhai - please arrange for Jiji and Tiny's things to be moved to the guest-room down-stairs; the 1 jijusa wanted for them in the first place! , Jai announced and Vijay agreed to do the needful. Unnati and I are talking Jiji shopping - she needs to relax; therefore we're taking her for a nice outing , she continued, prompting Vijay to quickly offer to drive them to the mall. But Unnati declined, saying : It's a "girls-day-out" - NO GUYS ALLOWED! Yep , not even the driver ...Jai completed.
After hours of "shopping" , the 3 ladies retired to have tea and sandwiches at a bistro. Udita was exhausted and fell asleep in her bua's arms. Out of everyone, the Baby was the only 1 that got new clothes and tons of toys ... mainly because she cried until she got what she wanted! Jiji , Unnati ... order anything you want, this round is on Jaggat , Jai flashed her husband's credit-card and all took full advantage of it.
The sudden thought of Uday returning to Mumbai tomorrow, made Manyata smile broadly. Too bad, the other 2 noticed it and began teasing her about it : Unnati - can u believe, THIS is the same Manyata, that DESPISED your brother so much, Jai quipped. Ya Jai - NOW look at her - she's carrying DADA'S SECOND CHILD!
Shut-up you 2. You'll are talking about me ; as if I'm not here .. Manyata scolded - only for THE SAKE OF SCOLDING! Now, let's get going - it's late! As Jai signed for the bill, the waitress gushed over Udita , who just woke up : Awww, what an adorable Baby ... she's just like a dumpling - I could just eat her! At once, Udita started crying and all moved out in a hurry.
In the car, Jai suddenly figured out the reason for Udita being frightened of Jaggat. Apparently - the first time, he saw the Baby - he also said : She's so cute - I could just eat her! The poor child was afraid of becoming a meal for Jaggat!
As soon as Manyata's cell rang , Udita exclaimed : Paapa fone! Indeed, it was Uday's much awaited call and Manyata allowed the Baby to talk first : Hallo. Hi my Doll - hi my sweet-heart, how are u Pari? Paapa misses u very much. Missy Paapa! I know my Baby - Paapa promises u that he'll be with you VERY SOON! I see my Baccha knows how to answer Mamma's phone, huh? My little girl is very clever, isn't she? Udita smiled at the compliment and EVENTUALLY allowed her mother to talk too. Uday - our time is running out ... only 4 days left! Princess - there's something I have to tell u ... I have some bad news ; because of the monsoons - there's major flooding in Jaigarh - I won't be returning to Mumbai tomorrow. I'll only come ... The line went dead!
CHAPTER : 10.2 : FROM ROYALTY TO OIL-MERCHANTS😃!
Komal, I was thinking about calling Raj-Purohitji and asking him to do a hawan for us. Lately, we've been having too many problems ... we must do something to lift this black-cloud that's hovering over our heads , DS shared her thoughts with Komal - who readily agreed : Ya Maa-Sahib, and after THAT, I was thinking about hosting a Godh-Bharai for Manyata. Both decided that the hawan and the Godh-Bharai will be on consecutive days BUT ONLY AFTER THE STANLEY PHILLIPS MATTER IS RESOLVED!
Manyata lay on the bed , immensely worried about time passing too fast and little improvement being made in the financial department. Yet again, Uday was "unreachable" - and to make matters worse, he never told the exact day, he'll be returning. "CLICK-CLICK-CLICK-CLICK" - Manyata kept switching the bed-side lamp, off and on, off and on ... while her mind drifted away.
Udita was sleeping beside her mother and she had her hand on her mother's stomach, when something happened ... that made her sit up with a fright. A kick from inside Manyata's stomach startled her ... making her stare at her mother, almost as if she was waiting for an apology for being so rudely awakened.
Udita's shocked, yet confused face - made Manyata laugh at the child. She pulled her close to her and began to lovingly explain : You got frightened Princess! Awww , there's nothing to fright for ... inside Mamma's tummy is another cute Baby - just like you! HE is your Bhaiyya - your little brother. Very soon , he'll be out of Mamma ... then u and he can play together. You must be a good elder sister to him, OK Baccha.
Not sure if Udita understood or not, but she nodded for her mother. She placed her hand on Manyata's stomach and immediately - Virat kicked. The Baby gave a broad smile and tried calling out to her brother ... unfortunately - she gave a different variation to "BHAIYYA" , by calling him : BOYYA! Manyata tried correcting her : Princess - say "BHAIYYA" , but Udita repeated : BOYYA! Manyata found it too cute, the way Udita brought her lips together to say the very difficult word - and decided to let it be!.
Very early, the next morning - a servant was forced to wake Manyata as an urgent call on the mansion's land-line, had to be received by her. Hello , is that Mrs Singh? , an American man asked. Yes - this is Manyata Singh. Oh thank God - I got you ... this is Jeff Franklin; do u remember me? Mr Franklin was Manyata's neighbour in Texas. Yes, of-course Mr Franklin ... how are you? What can I do for you?
Well, I'm on top of the world ... and u will be too! Oops - sorry, before I go further, I apologise for calling at this time ... I presume it's the wee hours of the morning in India - I'm terribly sorry. Actually it is early ... but not so much to warrant an apology, she stated kindly. Mam - that's very sweet of you ... the thing is - I was just too overjoyed to wait for a more suitable time.
Mr Franklin - I'm dying to know what you're on about ... please share , Manyata told as calmly as possible ... even though curiosity was killing her. Ummm - you see ... I was doing some renovations on the farm-house, when the Misses (Mrs) of the house said that she wants to build an out-house at the far end of the ranch. Now you know, I can't say NO to the little lady , he chuckled ... making Manyata furious. She just wanted him to get to the point ... but he was going off the topic!
She twirled the telephone-cord in irritation as the man went on and on about his wife's need for more space. After what seemed like ages - Mr Franklin finally came to the reason for the call : Then while we were digging trenches for the out-building ... we struck oil. RAW CRUDE OIL - Mrs Singh , we're going to be rich! I mean FILTHY RICH! Manyata rolled her eyes while wondering - so what does THIS have to do with me? Mrs Singh - are u still there? Did u hear me? Yes Mr Franklin - I heard u ... congratulations on your windfall. Mam - congratulations to you too! ME??! Sorry , I don't follow. The exact spot where we hit oil, is the boundary between yours and my property. This "jackpot" is OURS!
CHAPTER : 10.3 : THE NEXT HEIR😕?
Uday - are u still there , Manyata asked when the line went silent on the other side. Yeah - I'm here! So ... when can we go? "WE" aren't going. I will go to Texas as soon as I get back from Jaigarh! But ... , she started to say, when Uday cut her off ... No "BUTS" Manyata ... you're in your final trimester. I said I will handle it and I WILL! , he disconnected the call; before she could say further. But then ... THAT might be too late for Devgarh , she mumbled to herself ; as Uday would only return on the 25th ... which also happened to be the D-DAY; as per the contract.
Manyata took the chance of calling Uday ... and to her luck she got him! Unfortunately; his response wasn't as enthusiastic as she had hoped for. Perhaps - he was still in a sleepy mood , she concluded. She made a mental note to thank her father-in-law for stopping the sale of the ranch, many months ago. Had he not done that ; this blessing of riches, would've gone to someone else.
The pleasant smile on her face - turned to anger ... when the villain of the moment rang her : Princess Manyata ... Before he could say another word, Manyata cut in-between ... Yes , I know ... 3 days left! Well , thank Goodness u remembered.
By the way - I see that your daughter has become an overnight celebrity! What are u talking about? Your daughter's photograph is in ALL the popular web-sites - even the Bollywood sites... they're calling her "TOMORROW'S STAR!" He started to read out an article posted with the girl's photo ...
REVEALED : Princess Udita Meghranjali Singh. Finally a face to go with the name! The future heir of Jaigarh and Devgarh was seen in the company of her mother and 2 aunts, as all were shopping for what seemed liked toys for the tiny tot.
Abruptly he stopped reading and remarked - UTTER NONSENSE! These people report all lies - right Princess Manyata? I mean , Udita is NOT the future heir of Devgarh - is she? NOOO!!! But, I am , he started laughing hysterically.
