Okay honestly I had expected him to support Sanyukta. In the first epi, initially I thought he would help his sister and argue with their father or something of the sort. But I won't say I was shocked by the way he was portrayed. Sibling rivalry is a reality and it's time Indian TV addressed it. I'm a single a child but I know of many elder brothers who are like this or tend to become like this when they grow up. Especially when the father is domineering, bossy and patriarchal, the son would obviously take after him. And trust me, all of them are formally educated, city-bred boys.
This guy seems to be a typical case of jealous, insecure, chauvinist male.

There are people like that may be graduates but post graduates is what makes me think that he feels not in majority category. Sibling Rivalry must be shown but there is a time when it must be..This happening between tw brothers or two sisters would not have been a shocker but what shocked me was this happening between a brother-sister... Brothers are possessive but they do support when needed and this guy lacks it..He does not like her studying mechanical engineering is accepted but when he was about to break thinks that Sanyukta made was a shocker

Thank you..I understand what you want to tell but from where I se he is educated guy who has not just graduated from Arts and science college but an M.B.A which means he knows there is gender equality in society..
The attitude he has is sickening..These kind of boys need to know how to respect sisters..

And the way he reacted in frot of a teacher did not make me feel good either..Not even illiterate people behave such way..
Hope he recognizes his mistakes

i am somehow wishing that he improves...having such an elder bro is as good as having No1...!!
i don understand how can he be so against her...!! exactly i get your point and thinking into it...! could it some how be jealousy? since he was a failure? or he jzz wants to be his dads pet you know for the factory and all...!! i hope it will get clearer in future...!!

exactly its high time he does...!! eva illiterate have a bit respect towards teachers...!!uhh i was damn pissed ohh and they way he insulted her...not nyc for a guy!!

great post.
siblings are the best support one can have.they are the ones who support you when you are right and slap you hard when you are wrong.its really sad ro see a brother like sanyukta.even my mum said what kind of a brother is he.
but unfortunately such type of brothers do exist who are shallow enough to consider their family's pride above their sister's happiness.and who think its a shame if their sister aspires to be a doctor or engineer.
a friend of mine, who is also a marwari, unfortunately has to.keep up with such brother.now i don't if he is as shallow as sanyukta's brother but strict enough to not let her out with her friends alone even though she is 19.and yes he does sides with his father in every matter and criticises his sister.
its sad but such brothers do exist even today.

Gosh Sanyu's brother's a jerk, a complete xerox of his father. I cant believe to get the blame off himself he yelled "Sanyukta ka zarur kisi ladke ke sath chakkar hai" or sumthing like this...

I was taken back seeing his behavior...!!!
Glad I don't have any brothers' :P
But in reality, Yes we find many like him(Sanyu's bro)

The story is going slow but steady...!!!
Still it's just a week old baby, so I hope they live upto our expectations..!!!
It would be great to watch the way she change the mind of her orthodox family...!!!!!! Its something most of the girls of such a family to learn too..! :))
And to remember, this change has already begun... Her mom is changed now, she is out of her shell...!!!! :D
