CHAPTER 6
2 months later.
As Taani walked into the club , she glanced over the bar and headed towards it ignoring all the people who were dancing happily. She took her vodka and made her way to the nearest couch and sat there observing all the people . As she sat down and had 1 sip of her drink , thoughts came flooded in her head.
"We spend our whole lives worrying about the future, planning for the future, trying to predict the future, as if figuring it out will cushion the blow. But the future is always changing. The future is the home of our deepest fears and wildest hopes. But one thing is certain, when it finally reveals itself, the future is never the way we imagined it." Someone had told her this when she small. As a kid , she had no idea what it meant , but once she grew up she understood it. Infact she experienced it , and this was perfect for her situation.
She saw the guy in front of her , and she identified him. Flashback came in her mind of their unusual meet.
Flashback ( in London)
She , with her bunch of useless friends made their way towards the disc hoping they would receive entry at the last moment. As her friends walked towards the entrance , Taani went to park her AUDI. When she returned she saw her friends pleading the guard to let 'em in. And when the manager turned , he saw Taani. Taani hugged him and asked him if they could enter.
The manager turned to the guard - How dare you stop her ? Don't you know who she is ?
The gaurd - I am sorry ma'am.
Taani - Its okay . And thank you Jim.
Jim - My pleasure. And enjoy.
She went in , and went towards the bar , while all her friends went on the dance floor to dance.
Taani - 1 on the rocks.
Bartender - Sure.
She turned and saw a guy . He was depressed and a tear rolled down his cheek .
A heartbreak , she guessed.
Taani - Why are you depressed ? Heartbreak , huh ?
Guy - Excuse me ?
Taani - Oh come on. You can tell me .
Guy giving up - Yes.
Taani - What is your story ?
Guy - Its quite long.
Taani - I have all the time in the world.
Guy narrated his story , expressing how his girlfriend left him and cheated on him. Taani also felt moved by his love for her.
Taani - That bitch isn't worth your tears and your love.
Guy - But..
Taani - See , I don't know why she cheated on you. But , believe me She isn't worth it . Life is no Fairy tale . There are no Forevers , no Happy ever afters. It is the most unpredictable thing ever known - It changes its colors in nanoseconds. Friends turn into enemies , Lovers turn strangers , Shit happens but one thing is for sure that Life goes on. It never stops for anyone .
The sooner you realize this , the happier you will be in your life. We have heard many proverbs cautioning us not to do this , not to do that. But , the truth is sometimes you have to make your own mistakes . You have it experience it yourself , learn it yourself .
Wonder why it has to suck so much ? Why it hurts so much that it makes our breathing and existence difficult ? That's how you grow , you learn , you enhance your knowledge. That's the only way.
But , after every storm there is a rainbow . So f**k her , and dance.
The guy never expected a girl who was merely 19 years old to give her an advice , only experienced people could. The guy couldn't help but smile and went with her to dance.
Taani dancing with him - Never let a heartbreak bring you down. Smile even when you're heart is aching. Smile even though its breaking. So forget everything , and dance.
Flashback finish.
The guy turned and saw the girl who's advice changed him life. Gratitude took over him , and he made his way towards her.
The guy - Remember me ?
Taani - Yes . How are you ?
The guy - I am good. And you ?
Taani - As I said , Smile even when you're heart is aching. Smile even though its breaking . So here I am , with my heart broken trying to implement what I advised to you earlier. Now I realize its easier to give advises than to implement 'em in your own life.
The guy - Its okay to cry . When life breaks down, when we break down, there's no science, no hard and fast rules. We just have to feel our way through. So I also have all the time in the world to listen to your story.
Taani - its so weird. Years back , you had your heart broken and I was advising you. But now , its the same with me. I don't have a story. I don't .
And tears started rolling.
The guy - Remember what you said " Forget everything and dance. " I believe dance is your escape , so come.
She went with him and started dancing . But this time it wasn't her escape. Instead , it made her remember what happened and how she got her heart broken.
She still remembered every word when she met the new student , who was none other than Avi. Little did she know , he would the disaster in her life that was awaiting to unfurl.
Flashback .
VP - Oh , come in Taani . I've called you here to inform you that our new student has arrived.
The guy - May I come in , Sir?
And Taani turned around to see Avi standing there. She was shocked to see that he was goin' to join her college.
VP - Oh , yes sure Avinesh .
Avi - please , call me Avi , sir.
VP - Sure. So Taani , here's the new student. Its your duty to give him a tour of the college and help him if he needs .
Taani - um.. Sure sir.
Suddely VP got a call and had to leave immediately leaving both of 'em alone.
Avi - Taani , I really wanna apologize for my behavior that night. I'm desperate to make new friends here. Can I be your friend ?
Taani - See , Avi what you did will take time for me to forget , but Sure we can be friends
Avi - No problem , Taani.
Taani - Okay , so I'll give you a tour . Come this way .
Avi ( thinking ) - Before you'll forget what I did , I'll give you another setback that will shake you to your core. But I won't let anything happen to you after that , cuz I love feisty girls like you , my love.
And with this , he gave one dirty look to her who was busy collecting papers. She was totally unknown to the disaster coming up , the guy whom she just became friends with would destroy her completely.
Flashback finish.
A tear escaped her eyes , which she immediately wiped off keeping in mind she would never cry. But neither her eyes nor her thoughts were not listening her today. They were continuously flowing scratching her wounds that caused her immense pain.
What had changed in these 2 months ?
Everything .
Again , a tear escaped her eyes . When she raised her hand and touched her moist cheek she had another flashback of what caused it.
Flashback.
Taani was in the rehearsal hall early morning. She had no idea that the gang's dance rehearsal was at that time only. The gang entered and were somewhat mesmerized by her dance. But Avi brought 'em back to reality.
Avi - Guys , let's finish it. Let's show this girl what she deserves .
Swayam glared her but he couldn't say anything because he thought Taani was at mistake.
Avi - Stop the damn music.
Taani got startled . - Why ? What happened ?
Vicky - You need to get out .
Taani - excuse me ?
Vicky could hear the rising volume in her voice. No one ever dared to talk to her like that. But still he continued - you're excused . Now get the hell out.
Neha - Vicky saying right.
Taani trying to keep her anger in check- Listen , I have no idea why you guys are behaving like that. But--
She was cut off by Avi - cut this crap. You exactly know why were angry at you.
Taani - keep you volume in check. No one has ever dared to talk to me like that. And I don't give you the damn right to make an exception.
Avi - Oh yeah ? You know what , let's finish this. I'll tell you.. We're angry cuz you --
Vicky - we aren't answerable to her.
Swayam could sense the tension in the air - Taani , get out.
To say Taani was shocked , would be and understatement. She couldn't believe her own Bhai was supporting 'em instead of him , a guy he had met 3 weeks ago , the one who had once insulted Sharon . Did her brother actually believed Avi's sugar coated words ?
Taani - but Bhai ..
Swayam - I don't wanna listen to anything. Just get out.
She was totally in rage by now. She looked at Rey- the one person other than Swayam , she thought would support her no matter what. But Swayam had proved her wrong and so did Rey. The look on his face spoke volumes. He was in a dilemma , Taani interpreted. And the gang - They were all in anger. The time when all of 'em loved her was gone , and what took its place was this time where everyone hated her . And most importantly she wasn't wrong. Taani was strong , she couldn't let her tears come out in front of people who wanted to see her in that state. So she threw the Blackberry she had in her hand on the wall.
Everyone grasped , knowing she was in a murderous rage. Instead of shouting , she walked off giving a You-did-wrong stares to Swayam and Rey and I'll-finish-this-game-soon look to the rest of the gang.
Flashback finish.
In a span of 2 months , Avi had mislead all of 'em .
How ?
She had no idea.
She had f**king no idea about how a person who had once insulted Sharon , became more important than her itself ? How the hell did he convince all of 'em into believing that she was a liar , a cheater ? Her own brother ? Her own Boyfriend whom she loved more than herself ? Her best friend whom she thought would be beside her no matter what ?
Flashback .
She went to her class to attend the lecture. But her mind was already preoccupied with what happened today. She had tear in her eyes when she remembered that scene. Suddenly the gang entered . Everyone looked at her and saw her eyes moist.
As soon as Taani saw 'em , she knew she wouldn't be able to handle her tears. So she got up , grabbed her bag and her car keys and left.
After hours of driving , she felt weak and feverish but she was determined not to stop her car. She wanted to go far , away from everything that was causing her pain. She wanted to rewind time , if that was possible , to where she was Rey's GF , gang's little sister and Sharon's best friend.
And suddenly , her car crashed into something bigger which left her injured.
Flashback finish.
She could still feel the intensity of the accident that happened back then. She was lucky enough to get saved , Doctors had said. But to her , she was unfortunate enough to get saved. If she hadn't , she would've been away , Far away from this mess.
