hey everyone, reading yesterday's episode update...and the doc asking pia about the possible reasons that anand went to ratna...what do u think must be reasons that pia must be thinking of this behaviour of anand or can anyone think of any possible reason...to me it looks like anand is probably a little weak willed or didn't love pia enough to know how much he will hurt her and his own family...in this way he also comes out as a very selfish person...any comments from anyone!!

well, do we comment in general or specific to Anand.

in general, there are probably a variety of reasons which can be listed for a mans wavering attention. Boredom in the relationship... is probably top of the list.

But in the case of Anand, well, I must say, I did not expect Ravi Rai to take this twist yesterday. We have had so many serials on infedilty but this new approach completely floored me yesterday. Instead of being judgemental and painting one person black, he has truly got out the emotions of the people in the relationship at that time.. .these guys are so confused that they also probably dont realise what they are doing.. and that confusion. that dilemma was captured brilliantly.

How do I view Anand and his indiscretions...

Is he weak willed.. maybe. Does he not love Piya.. I dont quite agree.. I think he loves her too....

IN my eyes, Anand is someone who has not been able to resist temptation. That part of their love story is probably yet to unfurl, but yesterday, it did appear as if Anand saw Piya, was taken by her beauty, followed her and married her. Did Anand realise what love is when he saw Piya.. What attracted her to him.. these questions are still unanswered in the serial and till then, it would be diff. to guage how he does want to portray Anand.

My Anand is a partly weak willed person... who still does not understand what true love is all about... who is still looking for that elusive feeling called love... who did not understand Piya and her feelings (ref. the incident when Piya chides him for being jealous of Karan.. ), who gets easily swayed by other peoples words and reactions... (Bhaskar is always advicing Anand.. not that I have anything against anyone giving advice or taking it.. but somewhere you need to use your own grey cells too.. and Anand is forever being lectured or tutored by Bhaskar)... coupled with Ratna... who comes from a family of rebels (her mom was tooo)... Anand is also probably unable to make up his own mind. He deliberately switched off his cell, not wanting any disturbance during this meet or dinner with Piya, yet when Ratna walked in on them and summoned him to accompany her to the hospital, he followed like a love lorn puppy. This is my view on Anand.

All this and more makes him an interesting specipem for a psychologist.

A very nice topic indeed, also a very interesting aspect in the serial, this!!!

According to me, Anand still loves Pia to the core. As we all got to know yesterday that Anand was the first to fall for Pia's beauty and innocence. So we now very well know that theirs was a love-marriage. Pia made it possible, got the consent of her parents for this marriage.

Now, as Anand and Pia were living a very happy, contented, married life, what was the thing that made Anand move to another woman? As the doctor puts it, what did Anand see in Ratna that Pia did not have? I would say that Anand was more pulled to Ratna bcos she was probably more career oriented than Pia. Ratna knew more about his work, was interested in discussing with him about his work. I really do not know whether they showed Pia too inclined to talk about Anand's work. Also, Ratna is a more happy go lucky kind of a girl, probably Anand admired her bold and bubbly kind of nature. Most importantly, Pia had lots of maiscarriages, her life was always gloomy. Anand wanted a change from this monotonous attitude of Pia. So he found solace in Ratna's arms, who never ever worried about things, took things light, was cheerful and loving. Also, i will say that Anand is very weak at heart, always has a wavery kind of attitude. So he got tempted very easily by Ratna's looks, even though the love for Pia in him always remained. He kind of wanted more warmth, comfort and love, so went to Ratna.

After saying all these things, i also tell that Anand till this date loves Pia too. But i think he always wanted a mixture of both Pia's and Ratna's qualities in his wife. He got the right mixture in both. He missed certain qualities in Pia, which Ratna very easily brought in his life. So he wants to have both women in his life, is not able to make a decision. This shows how fickle-minded, wavery and love-lost Anand is....

Sree, beautifully put.. But I would disagree to some extent on the fact that Piya was gloomy thanks to her miscarriages.

No doubt, the miscarriages may have left a mark on Piyas mind and to some extent could have changed her overall outlook of life, but the Piya as portrayed was never morose, gloomy or depressed. Once the initial depression was over, Piya was back to being her normal self and back to trying to concieve and get back to nromal life..

Which takes us back to the question... If the wife is depreseed thanks to a miscarriage, does that give the man the liberty to look out for source of entertainment or solace. Shouldnt he actually help her get out of the blues and back to normalcy.

But, I would fully endorse the views in ur last para. He wanted a bit of the best qualities of both and found the easiest way to get them.. HAVE BOTH... But does life work like that... Would any man, leave alone Anand, like it if a woman says I like the tender hearted Mr. X, but sometimes, I like the macho behaviour of Mr. Y... so I will have them both around... to suit my mood.

I, for one, may not mind.. just kidding. 😉 A modern age Draupadi... a man a day for every day of the week. 😆 😆 😆

brilliant views greatmaratha and sree...it is possible that anand wanted to runaway from the situation of priya's unfortunate miscarriages..but instead of understanding what she was going through he found his own way out of his own misery...which was not very right....but as the serial unfolds maybe we will get more clues to that regard.

thanx for ur comments... 😊

It looks like Pia is a very composed woman. She may not do things on an impulse. She always thinks before she acts.
Ratna is more of an impulsive kind and this could have attracted Anand.

GM and Sree - you have taken words out of my mouth... I wish I could log on when you guys are on...

Coming to that last sentence GM, it is difficult to deal with one man... cannot imagine.. one a day 😉

Hi GM and Sree,
Excellent views and i agree with both of you, especially when it comes to Anand being the weak one,as men in general are known to be the weaker ones when dealing with their emotions, although there are a handful out there who could! And in this case,Anand's attraction to Piya is superficial,i must say,he is attracted to her lifestyle, her bubbliness, her bindaas character etc!His job was a monotonous one,and he felt 'comforted'by all this in Ratna, plus Ratna showing interest in his work,as mentioned by you guys earlier,Anand got lost somewhere in there!
I don't doubt that he loves Pia,as we could see that he does, but he's just one confused soul,as he wants the 'comfort'that Ratna offers in her arms,as well as Pia's love! And like GM ritefully said,in life it doesn;t work that way does it?Its one or the other!

And i think when Pia finally moves on,and finds someone else(Akash),Anand will realize what Pia had gone thru when he was with Ratna, and all hell will break loose, and we will get to see a man's ego at work as well as his weakness in full bloom!!! 😆 😆

A beautifylly discussed topic... Great thoughts. I think part of the problem is also that Anand doesn't know himself very well.

And most of us are that way... do you guys agree? We think we know who we are, but we really surprise ourselves every now & then with our discoveries about ourselves. Only in the crisis do we try to introspect.

But now that Anand has created a situation for himself, I think he needs to take time off from everything and everybody and ask tough questions to himself. Just remove from all the external stimulii and let the true Anand emerge.

But may be that's too much to expect from a soap. SO going back to the original question of this topic, and I would say that the weakness of his character is due to his not knowing himself very well. That's my 2-cents addition to all of yours comments.

there usually has to be a void or problem of some sort for an infidelity to arise in a relationship, either way, lying for 2 years is unforgivable!!! I would never forgive my husband if he did that!!! 😭

umnnnnn great discussion !!!

I would put Anand's infidelity due to the reason's of weakness for sure. Everyday in life, almost anyone working with or in the company of the opposite sex might feel an attraction towards a person when he or she is not supposed to. But it nevertheless happens - the reasons could be beauty, intelligence, a common meeting of minds etc. It's plain and simple temptation. If we give into it,we are at fault. We like a beautiful jewellery in a shop and it is open for all to see and an opportunity might arise when we might just get a chance to slip it into our pocket and get away with it. That moment of giving in or not giving in defines the strength of character. If we pick it up, no matter what, we will be theives.

No one is perfect. Pia has been a devoted wife, beautiful, intelligent and sweet. There is nothing in Ratna which makes her more worthy than Pia. If Anand got into an affair, knowing he is being infidle to his wife and how much he is hurting her, it shows he does not really care for her, that he does not hurt when she hurts. The basic requirement of love is understanding your partners failures and accepting them, not looking for compensation in someone else. His getting jealous I would say is more a sign of masculine propriterness, an ego of ownership, as Pia is his wife and that somehow gives him a proprital rights over her, rather than love. That is found in all men, even those who come home at midnght after sleeping with half a dozen chicks and yet shoot their wives without a blink if they even looked at someone else..... Anand sure wants Pia, as she is the stability that Ratna is not, a habit that he is unable to break, and it's almost like an old possesion you get attached to and do not want to loose inspite of having acquired a new one which of course becomes your first priority......

Anand is selfish and weak. His priorities in life are not straight, he not aware of his responsibilities, neither does he care for the consequences of his actions on people around him. He is causing immense emotinal trauma to his wife who lost her child due to self centred actions and yet it did nothing to shake up his conscience, he is hurting his mom, embarrasing his family, letting down his friends, ruining his career, even fooling with Ratna - he wants her, but just as a side dish, like an ice cream he has got addicted to after a dinner of daal roti 😆

Pia should walk away from him....as fast as she can....
