Zoya sat in her room her, brows furrowed as she wondered what was up with Mr. Khan. She knew one thing was for sure, she wasn't leaving. She had some time left to figure out things before leaving. She needed first and foremost to figure out what was going on with Mr. Khan. He'd been acting strangely especially since they'd had that moment.
He'd almost kissed her right? She hadn't imagined that and she knew he wanted her to stay. She wasn't going to tell him though. What she was going to do was make him admit that he wanted her here and didn't want her to go back to New York.
Yep, Operation Make-Mr.Khan admit his feelings was underway...

Asad sat at the breakfast table waiting for everyone to be seated before he started to eat. He wasn't going into the office for a couple more hours so he wasn't in any hurry this morning. Ms. Farooqui exited the room holding her side. His brow furrowed in confusion. Was she hurt? His mind flashed back to red sore skin, her in pain, their argument over bringing the doctor. Was it not healed yet? Was she hurting and not telling anyone?
He saw her mask her face before she reached the table and he pretended not to notice although for a while now, he couldn't help but notice everything about her. Ever since he'd almost seen her die and the feelings that had exploded in his chest when he'd thought he was too late, he couldn't stop thinking about how much losing her would have ruined him.
He passed the juice and toast to her and she smiled almost too politely. Things had been strained since what had almost happened the other day. He still hadn't known what had come over him. But he knew if in the same position again, he probably would've done it all over again and maybe this time succeeded. What was wrong with him? He guessed it could be summed up in one word. A word he dreaded saying out loud to anyone but his mother and siblings. A word he never expected to say to a woman lest of all Zoya Farooqui. That word was love.
He sighed heavily and she looked over at him with a curious expression on her face. She leaned forward to reach the jam and he saw her wince. He immediately leaned and passed it to her. "Are you okay Ms. Farooqui?" He asked trying to sound the least bit concerned as possible. "I'm absolutely fine." She said brightly. He could see she was not being honest but he still nodded and pretended to let it go.
He stood up and placed his dishes in the sink and was about to go to his room when he saw Ms. Farooqui trip, her toe catching on the table leg and she was falling forward. He quickly ran to her catching her to him before she fell face-first into the tile flooring and hurt herself.
He was suddenly all too aware of her slim body and the rapid beating of her heart against his chest as she took deep breaths. He looked down and saw her beautiful upturned face just inches away from his own. Her face was flushed and even more beautiful that usual. He pulled her upright, brushing her hair from her face, some strands sticking to her lips. He pulled them away and her full lips parted on a breath as he slowly removed the strands staring at her lips the entire time.
Realizing what he was doing, Asad pulled away after making sure she was right aide up and able to walk then he cleared his throat and walked off...

Zoya smiled as Mr. Khan walked off to him room and could see he barely restrained himself from slamming his door shut. There was definitely something going on with him and she was going to make him confess it. To her.
She went to her room and grabbed her bag pretending to go out, she called out to Phupi who she knew wasn't at home, saying she'd be back later. When she pulled the front door open, before she could step out, he was there stopping her, "Ms. Farooqui where are you going?" He asked looking at her with a stern look on his face along with something else that she couldn't yet define.
"I'm going out Mr. Khan. Don't worry I'll be back soon." She turned again, crossing her fingers and then yesss! "Wait, Ms. Farooqui, I'll drop you where you're going."
"Really Mr. Khan, you don't have to." She smiled but schooled her expression into a serious one when she turned to face him. "I wouldn't want to bother you." She wanted to smile so hard but she controlled the urge. "It's no bother Ms. Farooqui." She said simply and motioned for her to walk ahead.

This was a situation he should've avoided, being alone with her wasn't going to help these stupid feelings. Love? Was it really? Or was he deluding himself that so much concern for her would fall in that category? He glanced at her while she fiddled with her phone. Nope, it wasn't just concern...
As they drove down a long dirt road, he wondered where on earth she was going but she wouldn't say and then the unthinkable happened, the car engine spluttered and then smoked and they were stranded in an old dirt road with no gas station in sight.

Did that just happen? Zoya couldn't believe the car had just died. This wasn't part of her plan. The plan was just to make him drive around random roads for a while until she worked up the nerve to confront his behavior where he had no escape being in a car with her. Trapped essentially. But now they both were trapped and there was no housing or anything for miles she'd guessed. "Call someone, Mr. Khan."
"I'm trying." He replied looking frustrated. His fringe had flopped over his forehead and almost covered his eye. he continuously pushed it back but it kept falling back. Zoya fought the insane urge to push it back for him and only just resisted. "There's no service. Where the hell are we? Where were you going?" He asked shooting her an exasperated look.
Uhhh...she didn't have an answer for that so she deflected..."Maybe if you walk around outside, you might get some network coverage." She suggested and when she left the car she breathed a sigh of relief.
The she realized she didn't want to be in the car by herself, so she quickly exited and walked behind him, keeping close but keeping out of his way as well.
And wouldn't you know it, as soon as they were a little ways away from the car, rain started falling and then bad luck upon bad luck, she slid and fell on her backside in the mud.
Mr. Khan turned when she yelped and swiftly walked up and lifted her off the now muddy road. She was wet, her butt covered in mud and he was there for her again. "Thank you." she breathed suddenly noticing the water dripping off his long lashes or the way his eyes went soft looking at her. And she just said it, "I'm not leaving."

"What did you say?" Asad asked taken aback. She wasn't leaving? He couldn't believe the weight that lifted off his heart when she said those three small but life altering words. She shook her head. "Why?" He saw her breathe deeply. "Because I don't want to leave someone."
He felt hurt pierce him. She had someone she didn't want to leave and here he was coming to terms with loving her.
"Allah miyan! You! I don't want to leave you." she turned away breaking away from his grip. His lips formed an O of surprise and he couldn't really breathe. "Why? why can't you?" He asked his voice almost hoarse.
She shook her head, "No you're going to tell me if what I think I heard you say was exactly what I thought it was." She folded her arms over her chest and waited. So she did hear him. He closed his eyes for a long minute then breathed out, "I love you Zoya."
He saw a big smile light up her face and knew now she did feel the same. "I love you too Mr. Khan."
Asad didn't know how he got to this place falling in love with this totally misfit girl for his life and not wanting to ever have her go away from him but she wasn't going anywhere and she loved him too. He pulled her into his arms and hugged her tight, his arms gripping her to him tightly. Like he never wanted to let go. And he never would.
Zoya couldn't stop smiling. Her plan worked and she now had this wonderful man, a man she couldn't stand at first but slowly couldn't stand to be away from. She was in love with Mr. Asad Ahmed Khan...
