What does a 45 year old man do ?

Hello

I have a friend who is 45 years old All along his life he was a freelance programmer. Suddenly for the last 5 months or so, no projects are coming up. So what other working opportunities are available for this man ? He has 2 kids.

In general my question is if a 45 year old man in India wants a change of career what are the options before him ?
