CHAPTER : 8 : THE COUNT-DOWN BEGINS ...
Then are u saying 1 of us could die! But u said everything was fine ... then what went wrong? I don't want to die Uday! I don't want to lose Virat either , Manyata sobbed into Uday's shirt as he hugged her tightly. There must be something we could do, to put it all right again ... haina Uday?
No Princess ... Virat's position in your stomach has inverted. Don't know how it happened - but when he's born ... he'll be coming out, FEET FIRST! We have to be extremely careful from now onwards. I don't want to lose either 1 of you! I think , from today - you will have complete bed-rest. DON'T DO ANYTHING! Don't do anything that will tire you ... don't walk unnecessarily ... don't take stress and don't do anything for Baby! What! Uday - I'm Udita's mother ... I have to attend to her! , she protested. You're staying here with DS ... there's plenty of people to tend to Udita! Or ... should I take her with me? , Uday said in a reprimanding tone. NO! Leave her with me ... sometimes she prefers MY MILK! That's exactly why I left her with you in the first place.
Princess - I'm going to tell the family now. I want them to take care of you... and if they can't do it - then I'll be taking you home with me. Uday - I want to stay here for a few more days ... just till I see some improvement in Daata's health. Uday agreed to it but was not too happy about it. He saw no point in Manyata staying there ... but didn't want to argue with her about it.

Manyata and Udita had eventually stayed for 17 days and it had become routine for Uday to visit to visit every morning and evening. Jai was assigned to Manyata's beck-and-call and the poor girl did not complain even once. Udita was becoming a hand-full, with her naughtiness increasing daily and even giving glimpses of Uday's stubborn-streak. Brijraj's health was improving and was starting to walk without any aid. Unfortunately - his speech was still impaired and right-hand ... unable to do its duty.
Daata - I was walking pass your room this morning and I heard your cell ringing - I went to answer it ... but then I saw the caller-ID as Stanley Phillips, so I rejected the call , Manyata informed her father. I don't know why that IDIOT is still bothering you , she continued fussing. Brijraj desperately wanted to tell her and the rest of the family about the money he owed - but the words could not leave his mouth. Even TIME was running out ... without raising the cash, Stanley would take over Devgarh in 10 days time! Brijraj tried writing out Stanley's threat ... but he could not even hold a pen ... let alone write out a sentence!

Uday decided that ENOUGH , was ENOUGH! His wife and daughter had stayed THERE long enough ... NOW , it was to bring them home! Manyata's health was constantly on his mind ... so much so - that he was planning on staying home, for the rest of the duration of the pregnancy. However ... NOTHING seemed to be going according to HIS PLAN recently ... now , came another hurdle! Giriraj was away in London; so , it was left to Uday to resolve a crisis in Jaigarh. It was for the first time, he wished ... to be an ordinary man - with an ordinary life.
It was so easy for Giriraj to say : It'll only take 6-7 days! But how in the world, would he explain to his little girl - that he'll be away for 1 whole week? Surely - she would not understand why he is suddenly absent from the scene! Everyday - after work - he'd spend all his time with her and only leave after she fell asleep. Each day, she would welcome him with : MISSY PAAPA! , and he'd reply with : I was MISSING you too my Baby! As his thoughts circulated around his daughter ... he suddenly remembered his wife! Oh Princess - how the Hell , am I going to keep an eye on you ... when I'm so many miles away? , he wondered.
Paapa - LET! , Udita scolded as she stood on the sofa ... and balanced herself whilst holding onto Jai's shoulder. Uday lifted her in his arms, pinched her nose and explained : Paapa - not LATE ... Paapa is early today!
And why is "paapa" early today? , asked Manyata from the dining-area. Because PAAPA was missing his 2 favourite girls! , came Uday's answer. She just rolled her eyes in response. Manyata , it seems; was very busy with her "lunch". The pregnant mother's cravings were getting weirder by the day ... but her present 1, was "definitely fit for the record-books", according to Uday. Manyata was peeling banana after banana ... dipping the fruit into tomato ketchup, before taking bites from it! She ate as if it was the next-best-thing, after a chocolate ice-cream sundae! Jai laughed on seeing Uday's horrified face. With the 2 of you, like to join me? , Manyata offered her very special-dish to her husband and sister ... it's deliciously yummy! Within a flash of a second, Uday and Jai disappeared . Well ... MORE FOR ME!
U know ... this is NOTHING! Last night Jiji ordered a chicken-pizza ... do u know what she poured over it, before eating? , Jai asked Uday - who looked too afraid to hear the answer. Chocolate-sauce ... she poured chocolate-sauce over her chicken pizza, Jai laughed and laughed and laughed. Uday just started at her in amazement. He had never seen this side of Jai before ... where she laughed from the heart, being genuinely happy! You've changed so much Jai. I have! And for the first time ... I'm happy with who I am! And I am happy that YOU ARE HAPPY! , Uday side-hugged Jai ... making Manyata smile from where she was seated.
Uday was utterly stunned , when Udita reached out for Jai from his lap. Well , the Baby was now very used to her massi ... but not so much whereby - she'd reject her father for her aunt. It seems Jai's large hoop earrings were attracting Udita's attention. Her eyes were fixed on the accessory , whilst her tiny hand tried to fit its way into the circumference of the ring. Despite her hand being small ... it was still quite big and could not go through the hoop. Everytime , Jai moved her hand away , she'd give a reprimanding grunt ... and persisted in achieving her goal. Jijusa - I think u should get your daughter a pair of bangles ... she's hell-bent on converting my earrings!
Suddenly, Udita moved off Jai, got onto her father's lap and buried her face into his chest. That could mean only 1 thing - Jaggat was around! For some unknown reason ... Udita was terrified of him. Every time, he came in front of her - she'd go into hiding. Each time, he went near her - she'd burst into tears. Oi ... my husband is not scary-looking, that you're so frightened of him! , Jai pulled on Udita's big toe. But she didn't dare look up from the safe haven, she found in Uday. Because of the Baby ... Jaggat was forced to cut his visits short. The guy couldn't even have a proper visit with his new wife.
As Manyata put down Udita for her afternoon nap ... the 2 sons-in-law , got chatting. Both agreed that since Uncle Brij was recovering well ... they'd be getting their wives back soon. Jaggat confided, that since their wedding ... Jai had only spent 2 days at their new home and he missed her terribly. Uday gave the couple a bit of "alone-time" ... when he went to "interfere" with Manyata.
Manyata was "roaming" somewhere in "MEMORY-LANE" , when Uday stunned her by back-hugging her. Thinking of me , Princess? She pointed to a chair at the furthest end of the room ... Do u remember how u tied me to that chair, when I got here? As Uday recalled it, a smirk adorned his face : Hmmm ... I remember! Did u think we'd get married after what YOU did to me? Yep - I knew we'd be married , he answered cockily ... but I never expected u to give me children! , he began laughing ... but nearly fell over, when Manyata gave him a shove , Halkat!
Hey - u never said why u came so early today! , Manyata rehashed the earlier topic. Ya ... ummm ... I ... ummm , Uday hesitated. What is it Uday? I'll be leaving for Jaigarh, tomorrow morning ... for a week! What! no Uday ... Manyata began crying hysterically as if Uday had just announced that HE WAS SHIFTING TO ANOTHER COUNTRY, LEAVING HER BEHIND! Uday rubbed her back, as she glued herself to his chest ... crying for no more. He finally put down her over-emotional behaviour to - A PREGNANT WOMAN'S HORMONES!
Jai and Jaggat's "romance-time" had to be cut short when Manveer interrupted them. Manyata teased an embarrassed Jai, whose blush got darker by the second. Eventually, brother-in-law , Uday; came to the rescue ... Princess - time for bed! Awww , No Uday; all I do , is eat-&-sleep, eat-&-sleep, eat-&-sleep , Manyata complained dramatically. But Princess - it's essential for you and Virat! Uday - from tomorrow ... you'll be gone for a week let me spend this time with you, Manyata pouted and Uday could not refuse her.
What are u planning for your birthday Jijusa? Jai asked excitedly ... it's in 12 days time! Ummm ... I was thinking about a hunting-trip; haven't been on 1 for ages , he answered. Uday , I can't go ... Manyata pointed to her 6-month-old pregnant-belly. No worries Princess - we'll keep it STRICTLY GUYS this time , right Jaggat? Jaggat immediately agreed to the prospect of hunting proper game. But that means, there'll be just 2 of u, Jai asked confused. I was thinking of inviting Vijay Banna also , Uday beamed with a wicked glint in his eyes ... and Manyata prayed that Vijay Bhai would NOT become the HUNTED!
Don't worry Princess - I'll make it really fast ... HE WOULDN'T FEEL A THING! , Uday whispered with a tinge of EVIL in his voice. Halkat, Vede ... she began assaulting him with the cushion on the sofa ... if you touch my brother , then ... THEN? , Uday interrupted, .. then u can forget about touching me ever again!
"BONK", the glass-door rattled as something hit against it. NO - not "something" - it was SOMEONE! Vijay and Unnati had arrived at the palace at the same time, but he was too mesmerised by Unnati's beauty, that Vijay was not paying much attention to where he was walking ... thus, he went straight into the glass-door!
Speak of the Devil , Uday snickered, but got poked in his side ... courtesy of Manyata's elbow. Jai Bhai! , Vijay yelled and ran to hug her ... in the process, pretending that his embarrassing fall, DID NOT HAPPEN! He went on a mini hugging-spree ... embracing Jai, then Jaggat, Manyata; and was about to hug Uday, when Uday stopped him in mid-motion, by holding up his hand. This cold nature of Uday's , confused Unnati; as Vijay just told her a few minutes ago, when they met outside; that Uday was the 1 that called him there. Dada , I thought that since it was YOU that called Vijay back - maybe ... Maybe WHAT Chotti? That maybe, you reconsidered your stance about us , she told softly with her head lowered. Uday raised her chin, forcing her to look at him : You're right Chotti ... I've reconsidered - and I give you both my blessings! All celebrated as Unnati embraced her brother : Thank u Dada - I love you!
With the immense noise the 3 couples were making, Udita was bound to wake up. Jaggat took THAT as his cue to leave and Jai walked him out. Vijay and Unnati quickly discussed and decided that their wedding would only come after Vijay has established himself in the business-world and Unnati becomes a reputable lawyer.
Uday carried Udita and brought her to the living-area, while she clutched tightly onto Pinkoo. Oh my ... who's this gorgeous, little thing? , Vijay asked of Udita and she took the opportunity to introduce herself : Pithy gal. Manveer just smiled at each other, while Vijay tried to solve the conundrum. Luckily Unnati helped : Vijay - she said : PRETTY GIRL! Hmmm - conceited, isn't she? , Vijay mumbled but was heard by all. Jai then added : Conceited - just like her father!
What do u mean Jai ... I'm not conceited , Uday barked back. Yeah - you are ... you give that "I'M CUTE AND I KNOW IT" smirk! Ya , and then there's that "I'M SEXY AND I KNOW IT" smirk , Vijay chipped in. Lastly, Manyata added her 2 penny worth : Not to mention, the "I'M HOT AND I KNOW IT" smirk! Uday opened his mouth to say something but didn't have a come-back-retort after the trio had their say. Even Udita giggled, seeing her "first-time lost-for-words" father!
Dada - seems like the siblings are very obsessed with your looks , Unnati whispered to Uday ... ghar jaake, hum aapki nazar uthaarenge! Uday stared at her for the longest time - before bursting out laughing. Soon , all joined in the fun.
The loud, happy cheers could be heard all the way upstairs to Brijraj's room. Tears rolled down his face as he wondered if this would be the last time - happiness, would reside in this home!
I guess everyone is surprised to see my update on the forum itself! It is just a trial ... I want to see if my note made any difference to anyone😳. If the response for this chapter is poor ... I will stand by my decision of updating in PMs ONLY !
