" You fulfilled your every promise that you made to me on our marriage. You allowed me to continue with my faith .You even fought your own religious fundamentalists. Then, what went wrong with your resolve for the second promise? How could you do a sudden 360 degree and violate me?"
-Jodha.
" In my whole life , nobody has given me a wound so deep, Jodha."
-Jalaal.
Hmm. So, what is the difference between the mercurial fury of 'zindaa jalaa denge' days and the " kiska baby hai ye" days? On the surface, there isn't much. Same volatile temperament. Same impulsive reactions without weighing the pros and cons. Same tu tu-main main. Same " a-theory-written-produced-executed-by-my-presumptous-hyperactive-brain." Yet... there is a small addition from both the sides. Jalaal and Jodha are HURT. Jalaal is 'hurt' by what Jodha has done , and hence, he burns within , breaks things, slashes people , instead of pinning Jodha to a wall like he did the first time she was in the suspicion circle. Its not just plain anger - this time, emotions are raising their head and that is why he terms Jodha's betrayal as ' gehraa ghaav' instead of screaming 'hum aapko zinda jalaa denge' from rooftops. Jalaal is so internally tortured that when he sees that random couple where a shameless woman is terming her infidelity as 'mohabbat' and an innocent man is seeking justice , Jalaal's wounded vulnerability makes him IMAGINE reasons for Jodha's promiscuity. She hated this marriage, she hated me, she hated my touch, she hated my admiration and she found beep beep beep with another man. "Badzaat aurat". Uff! Kitnaa dukhee ho gaya hoon main.
The same thing goes for Jodha. She is not exactly angry by what Jalaal has apparently done with her. She wouldn't even mind being impregnated by him or giving him a child...AS LONG AS the relationship and baby is borne out of love. That is what she tells Kaanhaji. What has hit her is not just that she is carrying Jalaal's non-existent baby , its HOW the imaginative embryo has come in. By humiliation from her husband where he violated her against her will , instead of consummating and winning her by love.I did not see any 'ghrinaa' as such on Jodha's face today. It was written all " Et Tu Brutus" on her face - it was the face of a betrayed wounded woman . Those tears in her eyes didn't speak how much i hate you. They were questioning tea saucers that i trusted you, how could you this to me?... Jodha even goes to question Jalaal instead of just wallowing in self-pity and writing new demon tales on Jalaal in her chambers. You seek answer from someone when it matters to you. Jodha could have kept quiet like she did during the 'zinda jalaa denge' phase - but this time, Jodha wanted to know that why RIGHTEOUS Jalaal violate her. I was beginning to see a halo over your head, just when did these horns appear? ...
Vulnerability feeds weaknesses and all of us fall prey to them, once in a while. Neither Jalaal has violated Jodha and nor is Jodha pregnant by another man. But if i remove this 'not;', then, both the acts are massive betrayals that are often the reasons of a complete collapse of a relationship, and even worse crimes of passion. I cannot judge JJ on anything because they have been slapped with something that they cannot handle. And their relationship that was beginning to take its baby steps in the right direction has landed on the wrong block of snakes and ladders.
I saw a completely different Jalaal and Jodha from the ones I had seen during the last phase of accusation, blame and punishment. Today, Jalaal did not know how to handle this betrayal - he is still digesting what has happened with him. Instead of giving orders to behead Jodha, he is caught in a labyrinth of emotional and masculine anger - and that is why he is finding it hard to even react properly. Similarly, this time, Jodha is not in the 'main chup rahoongi' mode and inspite of thinking that her hubby turned out to be a 'vaasna ki poorti waala leechad' , she goes marching to him to seek answers. Why seek answers if you are 'convinced' that he is a leechad? 😆
Logically, Jalaal should have done an immediate 'zinda jalaa denge' on Jodha and marked her an infidel. He didn't. Yet. Logically, Jodha should have wallowed in self pity and maybe drink vial of poison from Aishwarya Rai's trunk , believing that Jalaal did what is his nature. She didn't. Yet.
Actions, reactions, feelings , reflexes , thought process - everything undergoes a change when someone starts becoming more than just another entity.
Aur agar ye sab na hotaa, toh na Jalaal ko dard mehsoos hota aur na Jodha apne aap chal kar jaake Jallaad ko poocchti ki bataa toone phaansi kyun lagaayi?
Anyway, no comments on the precap because I will react to it when i see the episode.
Lastly, three cheers to Ruqqu for keeping the hope alive that she can still come back to normalcy. Ruqqu will love JJ's baby whenever he/she is born. She proved it today and she will never do anything to harm the child whenever he/she ACTUALLY starts breathing in Jodha's womb. Kind of goes in sync with history. Ruqqu loved Jodha's son and even the grandson.
Title of the post? Sahee toh kahaa humne janaab. Jo baby abhi tak aaya hi nahin, usske peechhe JJ Dilip Kumar aur Meena Kumaari hue ja rahhe hainn.😆
P.S- Paridhi looked HORRIBLE in the Mughal attire and jewelry. That look does not suit her at all, IMO. Abhi tak main apni eyes pe baraf rakh ke baithi hoon.Kitnaa strain hua mujhe yaar.
P.P.S- I think it was a FANTASTIC episode. It portrayed the weaknesses , downside and vulnerability of JJ's character really well. 👏
