Haha there is a reason I'm updating so fast, which I will reveal in the future. As for now, here's the next part (:
Monica (mocchug), hope you like it (:
Yes Boss: Part 7 Mr Bhatawdekar stared incredulously from his clipboard to Zoya. Her answers matched her boss' ones exactly! He really hadn't expected that. He wasn't called ab tak pachattar for nothing. His hunches about people lying to stay in India were always right. How could he be wrong about this one?
"Okay, toh aap yahan teen hafte se kaam kar rahi ho na? Phir toh bohut saare log aapko jaante hoge. Let me just take a short walk around the office and ask everyone," Mr Bhatawdekar said decidedly, as he passed his clipboard back to Dolly to be returned to his briefcase. As he did that, he missed the short look of panic that was exchanged between Zoya and Anu, who immediately plastered smiles on their faces again as soon as he turned back.
"Woh kya hai na Mr Bhata... Bhat... kar? I mean, Sir, meri research assistant bohut sharmili hai. So she hasn't really opened up to other people in the office. In fact, she didn't even open up to me until today! That's why after days... I mean, weeks of working here, she finally decided to step out of my cabin during lunchtime to have her meal with me. Nahi toh, she's been eating lunch alone in my cabin too. Aap aise sab ko puchenge ke Zoya Farooqui kaun hai, toh kissi ko pata nahi hoga. Haan, but I think some people might've seen her having lunch with me today, so you could ask them if they recognize her that way," Anu explained, coming to Zoya's rescue pretty efficiently. Zoya squeezed her hand in gratitude under the desk.
Mr Bhatawdekar stared at the ladies with suspicion, his eyes shifting back and forth between the two of them. Sharmili? This girl didn't seem to be shy in any way, especially after her bold announcement about her female problems. His moustache twitched a bit as he fell into deeper thought, making Zoya swallow urgently to stifle her need to laugh at the sight of it.
"Theek hai. I'll just make a move then," Mr Bhatawdekar replied, changing his mind unnervingly fast. He began to walk out, and Dolly followed suit. Zoya scrambled behind them, not sure why he was in such a rush all of a sudden.
As the three of them walked towards the main door, they passed by Asad, who was standing around near the main door as well, his head buried in a file. Mr Bhatawdekar didn't even notice him there since he was too busy rushing towards the exit. On the other hand, Dolly did notice him and even glanced at him, a frown growing on her face as she wondered why the boss of this place had to read a file in the middle of the corridor of all places. Was his cabin not comfortable enough? She shrugged and brushed it off, choosing to concentrate on keeping up with her own boss instead.
Zoya flicked the back of the file in Asad's hand as she walked by him, making him jolt and look up suddenly as the file smacked his face. He glared at an unnecessarily gleeful Zoya, who covered her mouth as she muffled her laughter.
"It went well, he bought the story. Now you don't need to wait around here for news anymore," Zoya whispered through her giggles, as Asad clenched his jaw and snapped the file shut, lowering it so that he could maintain eye contact with her.
"I wasn't waiting here for that reason alright, I have better things to do with my life than worry about an employee," Asad hissed, making Zoya mock-gasp in response. He rolled his eyes and pointed at the door where Mr Bhatawdekar had stopped in the reception area.
"Miss Farooqui, I think that you too have better things to do than stand around here talking to me. Like salvage your wonderful story? It seems to me like Monica might just mess it up now," Asad replied smugly as he watched his receptionist, Monica, stare at Mr Bhatawdekar curiously. Zoya turned towards his hand gesture and gasped for real this time.
"Kya aap kissi Zoya Farooqui ko jaanti ho?" Zoya heard Mr Bhatawdekar ask the confused receptionist just as she completed her half-sprint towards the reception desk. Monica pouted as she racked her brains for an answer to the strange man.
"Mr Bhataw... Dhurandar ji! Aap abhi tak yahan ho? Maine socha aap jaa chuke. Koi problem hai kya? Main aap ki kuch madad kar doon?" Zoya cut in, trying her best to keep the desperation she felt out of her voice. Mr Bhatawdekar and Dolly both turned to look at her, a little shocked to see her there.
"Haan, aap hi ka intezaar tha. Miss... Monica? Since you're the receptionist here, you should know everyone here I suppose. Aap inhe pehchaanti ho?" Mr Bhatawdekar asked, as he read the receptionist's name off of her name tag. He pointed at Zoya, who stared at Monica with wide eyes, an unsure smile slowly forming on her face. Monica leaned forward as she inspected Zoya's face, before turning back to Mr Bhatawdekar.
"Jee, maine usse Anu... I mean, Miss Mishra ke saath lunch karte hue dekha tha," Monica finally replied, much to Zoya's relief and Mr Bhatawdekar's disappointment. He huffed loudly as he dropped his shoulders in defeat.
"Miss Zoya, thank you for your time. I'll leave now, but yaad rakhna, I have my eyes... ON YOU," Mr Bhatawdekar addressed Zoya, using his index and middle fingers to point at his own eyes first, and then at Zoya's. Zoya gulped nervously but maintained the smile on her face as Mr Bhatawdekar and Dolly finally walked out of the exit.
"Okay, I guess you can go home now if you want," Asad said, as he sidled up next to Zoya unannounced, joining her as she watched them leave. Zoya turned to him and shook her head vigorously, staring at him like as though he was an alien.
"Did you not see what he just did?! He's going to keep checking on me now because it's obvious that he still doesn't believe me! I'm not going anywhere," Zoya decided, stamping her foot on the ground for emphasis.
"So you want to stay... because of Mr Bhatawdekar? Right, whatever you say," Asad dismissed, shrugging his shoulders as he left her side and began walking back to his cabin. The tiniest hint of a smile formed on his face as he heard Zoya catch up with him.
"Mr Khan, I'm not staying because of... whatever you're thinking," Zoya said defensively, just as they reached Asad's cabin door. Asad held the doorknob and turned to her slowly, an exaggeratedly bored expression on his face.
"Like I said Miss Farooqui, whatever you say," Asad repeated himself, leaving no scope for argument. Unable to keep the poker face on any longer, he twisted the doorknob open and entered his cabin, slamming the door in the face of a fuming Miss Farooqui.
