Rajeev Khandelwal and Prachi Desai won the Best Actor and Best Actress awards
T he year's TV puraskars got going over the weekend in right earnest. Of course, practically every award could be predicted days before the event. No surprises or shocks were in store.. alas.. isn't that a part of the fun of award ceremonies? For the record, Sansui Television Awards, its first, were held at the Andheri Sports Complex on Saturday. Divided into two segments, Popular Choice awards and Jury awards, the nominations were across 36 categories. This included recognition for content, acting, technique and newscasting. The popular awards were decided by public votes through SMS and internet. The jury com prised directors Madhur Bhandarkar and Sudhir Mishra, Paresh Rawal and Swaroop Sampat amongst others. In the Popular Awards category, Rajeev Khandelwal won the Best Actor for Left Right Left, Prachi Desai won Best Actress for Kasamh Se and Ektaa Kapoor, Balaji Telefilms won for Best Serial for Kasamh Se. Rajat Khera was the Best Actor in a negative role.. the Best Actress in negative role was Kamya Punjabi. The Best Director award went to B P Singh for CID, Best Reality Show across all channels was Bigg Boss, Best Dance-based show was Jhalak Dikhlaja, Best Entertainment Channel Star Plus. Zee TV was the Channel of the Year.
Shekhar Suman made his stage debut as a singer with Ru Ba Ru. He was also the anchor for the show with Malaika Arora Khan. There were performances by Rohit Roy, Shveta Salve, Malaika Arora Khan, Khandelwal and Aamna Shariff.
