KHURANA MANSION
[Arjun's POV]
We had been trying frantically to contact Maan and Aadi but to no avail, even our guards who were looking out for Aparna Aunty and Geet were unable to trace them. Each passing moment was adding to our anxiety! Just then with a whoosh...rapid motion of air along with loud noise of a chopper broke through the eerie silence of Khurana Mansion. It was clear someone was landing on our helipad but who?
We ran out to check and were appalled to see Maan and Aadi back in the chopper. Maan's demeanor and face appeared agitated and Aadi seemed nervous and tension clearly evident on his face. They headed towards us swiftly and we all made our way inside the mansion again.
[Maan's POV]
For some moments I just couldn't decipher what had transpired in couple of minutes, so many question raided my mind all of a sudden! Who was this man, was he lying to just create panic, how is this possible, how did he get access to Geet and our house etc. Aadi's voice broke my reverie.
"Maan whats wrong, you look tensed?" He queried.
"Aadi just arrange for a chopper right now! We need to reach Delhi at the earliest!"
I just wanted to rush back home to make sure that my Geet was fine and this was a hoax call! Once assured that Geet is safe I promise myself to make this man's life a living hell! He has messed with Maan Singh Khurana and involved my Geet in his dirty game...He will surely pay a heavy price for it.
Aadi as always made the arrangements instantly and we were back home. Seeing the tensed and appalled faces of all present here was terrifying me, as if my worst fear was about to realize. Not having any more patience the moment I stepped in the mansion, I turned around and questioned.
"Geet aur Maa kahan hain?"
Their drained off faces spoke for them, proving that the damage is already done!
Arjun and Yash divulged all details of what had transpired here in my absence, Vicky also disclosed that they haven't still been able to trace the whereabouts of Maa and Geet, they couldn't get through with the driver or the security guards accompanying them. Even the additional guards sent to search them haven't reverted back. I glared at the girls who stood in the corner with their head hung low with guilt.
Each moment was adding up to my fury, Annie walked up to me and mouthed.
"Bhai...I am truly very sorry...woh..."
"Don't" I raised my finger warning her and looked away, right now I had no control over myself and the least I wanted was to burst out on the girls who had failed to decipher the gravity of the situation and knowing Geet's immaturity and stubbornness at times they (the girls) couldn't do much.
Just then Arjun got in touch with the guards who had been searching for Maa and Geet but they hadn't succeeded. Before we could inquire further my phone rang and it was the kidnapper.
"That was fast Khurana... So you are back to Delhi...I'm impressed!
Now coming straight to business and no points for guessing that I have done my homework pretty well...no mistakes, no clues and no blunders!"
"I see your guards are struggling to find your wife and Mom but..but...but..."
"Ok lets help them out a little...tell your guards to take the first right and drive down the kutcha rasta (non metaled road) your cars along with your driver and guards are waiting for their help. Don't worry your Mom, beloved wife and not to forget the Khurana heir are safe with me but only if you don't act smart and do exactly as you are told to do."
"Wait for my next call..." He cut the call.
I told Arjun to forward the directions to the guards as now it was confirmed this man had played really well but to what extent and what exactly did he want?
The guards found the cars exactly at that place the kidnapper had mentioned, they were all unconscious, probably drugged. They were already escorted to the hospital for treatment.
It was a hard blow! I felt as if somebody had punched me hard in my gut, shattering my confidence. It was too much for me to bear plus fear and concern for Maa, Geet and the baby was terrifying me!
'It was all my fault...I should have listened to Geet and cancelled my trip...Geet was right...Her fear was right...Its just that we misunderstood the whole thing...It was she who was in danger and not me! My anger again took over me and that cost me my Geet's safety! How I wish it would have been me...I could bear any pain, any amount of torture to ensure my family was safe...my Maa, Geet and my baby are safe!'
Getting a grip over my emotions I spoke.
"Vicky get to the root of the matter, how and where did our security lapse? How did that guy get access to our family and above all Geet?" When Arjun interrupted.
"Maan it isn't the case of internal security lapse but that man has targetted the weakest aspect...emotions...women...and their fear to keep their loved ones safe. He used this in his favour and Geet fell in his trap to keep you safe at any cost!"
"Maan agar ek baar, ek hint bhi hume mili hoti toh hum yeh aasaani se rok sakte the. I do give it to him that he has succeeded but it was sheer luck on his part and ignorance on ours!" He concluded.
"Main ek baar Papa (Meera's dad, Commissioner Singhania) ko phone kar ke pata lagata hoon about any progress?" Yash asserted
"No Yash...we can't involve police directly in this now...he is keeping a close watch on us and I can't take any chances." I announced.
"Maan hum bina Singhania ke help ke kuch zyaada nahi kar paayenge, we need to involve police in this." Dad spoke out.
"Raajiv...Maan means hum indirectly police ki help lenge. Aise Aparna aur Geet ke baare mein hume pata bhi chal jaayega aur kidnapper ko hum distract bhi kar payenge." Dadaji spoke my mind.
"Yash tum Meera ke phone se hi Singhania uncle se contact mein rahoge I want all possible details of this man and trace all his calls. Arjun tum aur Aadi private detectives ko hire karo and keep me updated. Vicky tum Khanna's aur Handa's ki involvement ko check karo. I am going to the temple, hopefully I can get my hands on some clue."
"Lekin Veerji Mom aur Bro toh out of town gaye hain naya bussiness set up karne ki koshish mein." Pari added instantly drawing my attention towards Dev's attempts to find new investors for his business but I can't just trust anybody right now, it can just be farce to distract me.
"Pari I am not accusing them but right now I can't take any chances and would appreciate if you would cooperate. I hope you understand." I asserted genuinely.
"Don't worry Veerji mujhe kuch bhi pata chala toh main khud aap ko sab bataungi and I promise ke agar iss baar unhone kuch kiya hain toh aap jo chahe kar sakte hain...main beech mein nahi aaungi!" She promised earnestly.
We had our plan set as off now and were to implement it but before that I made a necessary announcement to avoid any further damage.
"Aur ghar ke bahar koi nahi jaayega...I hope I am clear!" I turned around and warned all, especially the girls.
Before we could head for our respective tasks Papaji, Teji and all the Handa ladies entered the mansion. I felt so guilty and helpless to meet the worried eyes of Geet's parents and her family. I had failed to fulfill my marital vows, failed to keep their daughter safe...I had failed!
But to my surprise a comforting hug of Papaji and his words breathed new confidence in me.
"Maan puttar sab theek ho jaayega, mujhe yakeen hain apne bete par, ke tum Geet aur bhabhiji ko har haal mein dhoondh kar sahi salamat wapas le aaoge." I nodded in affirmation.
Teji informed us that Handa's are in Mumbai regarding Brij's case so their involvement in Geet's kidnapping looks slim but he has already alerted some people to keep track on their each movement and also their close contacts here. He too volunteered to help by tracking some people who are associated with Handa's illegal dealings maybe we get some clue.
Teji held my hand and blinked his eyes as if assuring me 'we will succeed!' His gesture really touched my heart.
We all headed in different directions and would stay in contact with each other incase we get through some vital information.
SOMEWHERE AT A DESERTED PLACE
"Sir kaam ho gaya hain...ab sab kuch control mein hain...kisi ko hum pe shaq bhi hua hain...chidiyaan bahut phad phada rahi hain bhagne ki koshish bhi ki thi lekin humne waqt rehte usse pakad liya...parcel bhi bhej diya hain...aur kuch hi der mein hum pohuch jaayenge."
"Theek hain khayaal rakhna aur koi galti na hone paaye."
"Vikram...tum yahan kya kar rahe ho?"
"Main yahan aage ka plan discuss karne aaya tha, ab kuch waqt tak hum nahi mil sakte. And don't worry all is under control, woh log kuch der mein wahan pohuch jaayenge, lekin bas ek choti si problem ho gayi hain...chidiyyan ke saath budhiyaan ko bhi kidnap karna pada, nahin toh woh shor machake plan barbaad kar deti."
"KYA! Tum jaante bhi ho yeh galti hume kitni bhaari padegi. Uss Aparna ko kam mat samajhna, uss aurat ne woh har baar mere saare iraado par paani fer diya hain aur tum log...mujhe pehle hi samajh jaana tha ke tumhari planning aisi hi hogi!"
"Just shut up Ayesha! Don't u dare raise a finger on me. Agar tum bhool gayi ho toh mein tumhe yaad dila doon ke aaj meri hi planning ki wajah se tum aur tumhara beta, Khanna House uar Khurana's ki house arrest se azaad ho. Aur mujhe kya pata tha ke woh apni saas ko bhi saath leke bahar aayegi."
"Public place se kisi ko kidnap karna aasaan nahi hota...samjhi. Accha hoga ke tum apni hadd mein raho aur dobaara mujh pe ungli mat uthaana. Waise Dev kahan hain?"
"Arre tum toh bura maan gaye main toh bas Aparna ke wajah se tensed ho gayi thi. Aur Dev yahin kahin hoga. maine ab tak usse kuch bataya nahin hain."
"Kya...are you out of your mind! Tumne Dev ko hamaare plan ke baare mein kuch bataya nahi aur wahan maine apne aadmi ko Maan ko call karke apni demand place karne ka order de diya hain. How could you be so careless! Khurana's ke liye tum dono Delhi se bahar gaye ho, aur ab tak woh sab paagalon ki tarah Geet ko dhoondh rahe honge agar Maan ya kisi aur ne Dev ko kahin dekh liya toh. I can't believe iss stage par tum aisa blunder kar sakti ho!"
"Maine soch samajh kar hi Dev ko kuch nahi bataya hain, kyunki woh iss plan ke liye kabhi taiyaar nahi hota issiliye..."
"What! Aur yeh baat tum mujhe ab bata rahi ho...Get this clear Ayesha agar tumhaare bete ne koi bhi galti ki ya mera plan spoil karne ki koshish ki toh main usse chodunga nahi!"
"Woh aisa kuch nahi karega aur usse kaise iss plan mein shaamil (involve) karna hain yeh tum mujh par chod do. Koi galti nahi hogi maine pehle hi usse apna phone sawitch off karne ko bol diya hain aur woh yahan se bahar kahin nahi jaayega. So don't worry! Ab bolo aage ka plan kya hain."
"Ab suno, yahan se ghanne jungle (dense forest) mein mere aadmi tum dono ko le jaayege jahan unhe (Aparna and Geet) rakha jaayega, tum Dev ko wahan bhej dena unpar nazar rakhne ke liye aur tum kuch doori par ek aur jagah hain wahan rehkar mere orders ka wait karna. Dev ke pohuchte hi mere saare aadmi wahan se nikal jaayenge, sirf ek do log aas paas rahenge to be on a safe side incase of any emergency. Baaki yahan tum dono ko hi sab kuch sambhalna hoga. Main thodi thodi der mein tumhe call karta rahunga...Tum samajh gayi na?"
"Haan main acchi tarah se samajh gayi ke tum mere aur Dev ke gale mein yeh phanda (loop, trap) daal ke saaf bach nikalna chahte ho, taake saara ilzaam hum par lag jaaye ke hum ne Geet ko kidnap kiya hain. Waah kya plan banaya hain!"
"Hume bali ka bakra bana kar khud safe rehna chahte ho. Naam hamara, chehra hamara aur phasenge bhi hum maa-bete. Geet aur Aparna hume dekh lenge aur tum hume dhoka de kar saare paise lekar saaf saaf bach nikal jaaoge...hain na?"
"Ek minute sab se pehli baat...yeh saara mera plan hain agar chahta toh akela hi isse implement karta. Plan mera, aadmi mere, paise mere aur saari mehnat bhi meri. Tum dono ne kiya kya hain?"
"Dushman ka dushman dost hota hain issliye maine tumse haath milaya. Uss Maan Singh Khurana ke jaal mein se maine tumhe bahar nikala, uski security ko tod ke tumhe aur Dev ko maine help ki, Pari ko bhi emotional kar ke bewakoof bana ne ka idea mera tha, taake Maan ke guards ka pehra kam ho jaaye aur hum apna plan poora kar paaye. Geet ko bhi maine akele hi kidnap karwaaya!"
"Haan lekin Khurana's ki saari information aur weaknesses maine tumhe batayi, warna tum kabhi bhi Geet tak nahin pohuch paate samjhe. Aur ab hume hi phasa rahe ho? Khurana's ko hamari involvement ke baare mein pata chal jaayega aur..."
"Ayesha agar tum bhool gayi ho toh main tumhe yaad dila doon ke Khurana's ko waise bhi kuch der mein tumhaari involvement ke baare mein pata chal hi jaayega. Tumne hi kaha tha ke tumhaare paas ab khone ke liye kuch nahi bacha lekin tum Dev ka aur tumhaara haq cheen kar rahogi. Miane pehle hi kaha tha sirf cash demand karenge lekin tumhe Khanna's ki property mein se apna stake chahiye tha. Khurana's ke paas demand jaate hi saari baat saaf ho jaayegi. Paagal nahi hain woh jo yeh sochenge ke kisi random kidnapper ne Dev Khanna ka share claim kiya hain."
"Aur agar mujhe tumhe dhoka hi dena hota toh main kabhi tum dono ke India se bahar jaane ka arrangement nahin karwaata, ek baar hume sab kuch mil jaaye phir tum log bhi safe ho jaaoge. India se bahar jaate hi Khurana's tumhaara kuch nahi bigad paayenge aur main bhi apna hissa leke apni zindagi aaraam se guzaarunga."
"Mera saamne na aane ka sirf ek hi reason hain, Khurana's iss chehre ko nahi jaante aur issliye main aasaani se unke paas rehkar unnpar nazar rakh sakta hoon, jungle mein zyaada log honge toh forest authorities alert ho jaayenge aur hamaari saari mehnat waste ho jaayegi. Samajh aaya kyun maine tumhe aur Dev ko yahan rehne ko kaha. Ek baat hamesha yaad rakhna Ayesha main bussiness aur rishton mein kabhi beimaani (cheat) nahi karta."
"Theek hain, main Dev ko kuch der mein wahan bhej doongi tum jao hum yahan sambhaal lenge."

(After some hours)
[Maan's POV]
Helpless, dejected and defeated we all returned home, we did get our hands on some information but still nothing concrete enough that we can trace their whereabouts. Time was ticking and so was my patience and concern for them. I couldn't do anything...Maan Singh Khurana failed...My contacts falling short to search my loved ones!
Commissioner Uncle was already here with some of his best officers, they had entered our mansion from our hidden entrance about which very few trusted people knew. He notified us that their officers are on an alert and thoroughly tracing and checking all the vehicles, hideouts in and around Delhi and also all their informers are active and they will surely get some breakthrough in sometime.
I too disclosed to all about the events on reaching the temple. I searched all around for some clues or information and all I could get across was the priest had seen them last when they had come their for the puja. Our driver and guards who had gained consciousness disclosed that Maan and Geet had ordered them to stay back and not accompany them inside the temple premises as it would generate unnecessary attention still two guards had followed them without their notice keeping a safe distance from them. Once they got busy in their puja which would take sometime the guards returned and they all had tea and snacks at the nearby stall. Then all they remember is they started feeling sick thereby falling unconscious.
Teji informed us that Handa's had been busy in all legal issues in trying to bail out Brij somehow, their close and trusted people who used to be involved in their illegal tasks are also in police custody for some or the other charges ruling out their involvement in this kidnapping.
Vicky to added his side of story that Khanna's had checked in the XXX Hotel in Meerut but haven't stepped out of the hotel premises since then, this did raise our suspicion but before we could figure out more options a guard walked in handing over a parcel to me. I immediately opened it to find a CD.
Vicky instantly played it and I felt as if somebody had not only stabbed my heart but ripped it apart in two seeing Geet chased, dragged and tied up mercilessly by these monsters.
I felt like a burning lava running through my veins which was killing me bit by bit. I just kept gazing at the screen as the photos kept flashing when my phone rang catching my attention.
I promptly received it putting the call on speaker as everybody wanted to hear what were their intentions and demands behind this heinous crime!
"Waiting for my call Khurana...Ofcourse aakhir teri dukhti rag jo hamaare haathon mein hain. Bahot haath-pair maar raha hain par afsos kuch haath laga nahi...tch...tch...tch..."
"Ab dhyaan se sun apni Maa aur biwi ko wapas chahte ho toh ######## cash aur Aman Khanna ki will ke mutabik (according to) Dev Khanna ka jo bhi hissa tumne dhoke se cheen liya hain, uske saare papers sab kuch ready kar ke rakh de. Agar koi bhi hoshiayaari ki ya police ko inform kiya toh Maa aur biwi ko bhool jaana...samjha. Sharafat se jo bola hain woh kar! Main dobara phone karunga." Before he could cut the call this time I spoke loud and clear.
"Ab tu sun meri baat dhyaan se aur izzat se, kyunki main dobara nahin bolunga agar meri Maa ya meri Geet ko ek bhi kharoch aayi toh... Maan Singh Khurana khud gin gin ke badla lega...meri khamoshi ko meri kamzori samajh ne ki galti mat karna agar main apne pe utar gaya toh tum logo ko bhaag ne ke liye duniya kam pad jaayegi ...tum log jo chahte ho woh mil jaayega lekin..."
"Dekh Khurana hume apne paison se matlab hain, paisa deja aur Maa aur Biwi leja. Hum unhe tab tak kuch nahi karenge jab tak..."
"Tumhare paise tumhe mil jaayenge." I announced as he cut the call.
There was pin drop silence for some moments non able to come in terms with what they had seen and heard, fear, guilt and concern evident in each pair of eyes. An officer came up to Commissioner Uncle and divulged that the call had been made from some PCO, they had managed to trace the call.
"Get in action all of you." Uncle ordered to his officers but Dadimaa's voice echoed in the hall interrupting him.
"Koi kuch nahi karega bas! Uss aurat ko jo chahiye usse de do...mujhe sirf mere bacche chahiye sahi salamat!" She declared.
"Savitri shaant ho jao sab theek ho jaayega..." Dadaji tried to pacify her but...
"Kuch theek nahi hoga...mujhe badla nahi lena...koi insaaf nahi karna. Woh jo chahti hain usse de do bas aur uss aurat ko hamaari zindagi se door kar do."
"Woh aurat jab jab hamaari zindagi mein aayi hain sirf barbaadi hi laayi hain! Pehle uski wajah se humne Maan ko kho diya, phir uske dhoke ne Aman ki jaan le li aur ab Aparna aur Geet ki jaan sirf uski wajah se khatre mein hain. Saalon pehle usne Pari ko bhi paison ke liye kidnap karne ki koshish ki lekin Aman ne waqt rehte hi uske boore iraade (evil intentions) barbaad kar diye lekin aaj woh kaamyaab ho hi gayi." Dadima broke down in Dadaji's arms.
A shattering sound of a glass cut through the thick air around and our gaze shifted from the shattered pieces of glass to the person who stood shell shocked with the harsh reality of her life which we all had successfully managed to keep her away from all these years but...It was time for some revelations!
Tears brimmed in Pari's eyes as this was one of the harshest truth about someone she had always loved unconditionally and today witnessing their true colours had left her shattered. I really felt bad for the innocent soul but before I could comfort her she ran towards her room followed by Annie and Meera. Vicky and I were to follow them but Dadaji's look halted our steps, he wanted to discuss something. Dadaji called out to Rano Maa gesturing her to escort Dadimaa to her room.
"Savitri bharosa rakho Aparna aur Geet bahot jald yahan sahi salamat honge yeh mera vaada hain tumse. Main unhe kuch nahi hone doonga. Trust me!" He assured her. As the women made their way to the room Dadaji spoke out.
"Singhania jab tak Aparna aur Geet sahi salamat wapas nahi aa jaate tumlog kuch nahi karoge. Geet pregnant hain aur aisi naazook (vulnerable) haalat mein main koi chance nahi lena chahta. Tum apne officers ko alert rehne ko bolo but no action until they are back to us safe." He declared.
"Uncle don't worry mere officers sirf saaye ki tarah aap logon ke aas paas rahenge, inn calls se agar hamaare haath yeh aadmi lag jaaye toh hum inke leader tak aasaani se pohuch jaayenge." Commissioner Uncle divulged.
"Leader matlab? Dev aur uski Maa ne kiya hain yeh sab kuch. Bro main jaanta tha agar unhe mauka diya toh woh log aisa hi kuch karenge." Vicky burst out.
"Nahi Vicky, Sighania is right itna bada plan woh bhi itni safaai se karna Ayesha ke bas ki baat nahi, koi aur hain unke saath." Dad too agreed.
"Yeh saari planning uss aadmi ki hain, Dev aur Ayesha ko hamaari security se relieve karwaana, Meerut ka plan bana na, phir wahan se mauka dekh ke gaayab ho jaana and above all apni identity ko chupake hum par aasaani se nazar rakhna aur Geet ko trap kar ke kidnap kar lena. It all makes sense now!" I asserted.
"Exactly unki demands se hi pata chalta hain, jo aadmi unke saath hain usse sirf paise chahiye aur Ayesha aur Dev ko apni property." Dadaji added.
"Ek baar yeh caller hamaare haath lag jaaye toh hum aasaani se bhabhi aur Geet tak pohuch sakte hain." Commisioner Uncle affirmed and I made my way towards Pari she was in the most vulnerable state right now and I can't bear to see her in so much pain and guilt.
[Pari's POV]
The moment the photos of Geet parjayiji started flashing on the screen we all were shocked and worried Dadima's incessant sobbing pierced my heart so I went to get a glass of water for her but as I returned the kidnappers call and then Dadima's revelation snatched the floor beneath my feet. Vicky's painful look towards me felt like a thousand hard slaps on my face. Though he didn't accuse me but I know only I am responsible for everything!
My so called family had tricked me again and unknowingly I had paved a path for them to reach Maa and Geet parjayiji. Had I not requested Maan Veerji to ease the security who were keeping watch on them they wouldn't have been able to plan such a disgusting crime!
Not able to meet anyones gaze I rushed to my room. I felt so ashamed of myself all my life I trusted them blindly, never knew that Mom was responsible for Papa's death and she had successfully lured Bro too in her devious plans.
Loosing all control over myself I dialed Bro's number to confront him and luckily got through too!
"Hello Pari?"
"Good to hear Bro that you still remember me" I taunted him.
"Pari yeh kaisi baatein kar rahi ho, tum theek toh hona, kahin Khurana's ne tumhaare saath kuch galat..." I didn't let him finish.
"Itna galat nahi kiya jitna aap ne kiya hain Bro! Mujhe yakeen nahi ho raha hain ke aap mere bhai hain, koi insaan iss hadd tak gir sakta hain ke ek pregnant woman ko apne faayde ke liye kidnap kar le." I accused him.
"Kya bakwaas kar rahi ho tum, kaisi pregnancy aur kiski kidnapping. Kya bol rahi ho tum?" He queried but this time I will not fall prey to their drama.
"Oh! toh aap ko pata hi nahi main kya baat kar rahi hoon, hain na? Kahiye na ke aap ne Aparna Maa aur Geet parjayiji ko kidnap nahi kiya, boliye ke aap ne property mein apna share ransom mein nahi maanga aur sab se ahem baat ke aap ne phir se Geet parjayiji ko apne gande matlab ke liye istamaal (use) kiya woh bhi tab jab woh pregnant hain. Maa aur parjayiji ko yakeen tha ke aap ko behkaya gaya hain, jab aap ne mere liye hotel mein Brij ko maara toh mujhe bhi laga mera Bro wapas laut raha hain lekin aap ne hum sab ko galat saabit kar diya!"
"Kitna gir gaye hain aap Bro, sharam aa rahi hain mujhe aaj aap ko apna bhai kehte hue and I'm sure Papa jahan kahi bhi honge aaj unhe bhi afsos (regret) ho raha hoga apni parvarish par aur aap ke iss ghinone(disgusting) crime par. Shame on you Bro...shame on you!" I burst out on him.
"Geet pregnant hain?...Pari mera yakeen karo mujhe kuch nahi pata iss sab ke baarein mein...main toh yahan..." He tried to come clean but suddenly the call was disconnected. I turned around to find Maan veerji, Vicky, Annie and Meera standing behind me. Their reactions clearly showing that they had heard the conversation.
IN THE JUNGLE
[Dev's POV]
"Dev have you gone mad! Kya kar rahe ho tum? Maine kaha tha na ke apna yeh phone switch off kar dena aur tum iss phone se Pari ke saath baat kar rahe ho...meri saari mehnat par paani fer rahe ho!" Mom burst out on me snatching my phone and switching it off immediately.
"Iska matlab Pari sahi keh rahi thi aap ne yeh sab kiya hain...issliye hum Meerut gaye...wahan se chup ke bhaage aur yahan jungle mein aa gaye...aur iss plan ke liye aap mera saath chahti thi? I don't believe it Mom aap property ke liye...Shi!" I just lost it. I just Mom could stoop so low...kidnapping!
