"she needs rest" the doctor said to navya before leaving he house. navya was nandini's childhood friend, they were in same neighbourhood years before. Navya was currently staying in nandini's house as it was near to her college and also was better option than staying in college hostel. Nandini's parents were out of town to attend some function which left navya alone to take nandini's responsibility along with an old maid of the house- Shanthamma.
"navya.. nandu baby is getting conscious.." shantamma informed her. Navya rushed to nandini's room. Shantamma stood beside the door for few minutes making sure nandini was fine and then left to kicten to prepare Soup as instructed by the doctor. Navya sat beside nandini and held her hand. "how are you feeling honey?"
Nandini grunted as her head was throbbing hard. She shifted in her bed pressing her eyes, why cant this bloody head of mine stay calm? She thought irritably. "hey hey.. relax! Don't stress yourself. You need some rest.. go back to sleep.. I will get u soup in few minutes.. you have some medicines to take.. now go back to sleep darling.. c'mon.." nandini glanced at the wall clock, it was 2am in the morning. She looked outside the window beside her bed, it was pitch dark. The cool breeze caressed her face, making her shiver with the chillness of night. Nandini sniffed. Her only mistake- Yash! Was it her fault if Deepak and yash are brothers? Did she ask Deepak to confront yash? Then WHY? What was her fault in whole fiasco? Is that she considered Deepak to be her best friend ? or is it that her stupid little heart fell for an asshole? Or was it that she was so bad that she deserved to be insulted infront of whole college? How will she go back to collge? How will she face kriti,abhi and megs? How? She felt disgusted! Nandini had just sat on the bed, staring the calmness of night. And she was losing it again! Her mind was losing the concentration, her head was murdering itself, her vision was blurring. She felt the same sensation when she had just entered the gates of her house. and she thought once again she will fall or even die.. but navya held her just when she was about to fall.. navya's slow voice filled her ears I told you not to stress! Do you ever listen to me?' navya made nandini lie down on the bed. After comforting nandini, navya slowly wakened her to have some soup. Much to nandini's objection navya fed her lovingly.
Nandini lay down on her bed. Staring at the ceiling as though it would swallow her hard! Nandini's mind was blank. What to think what not think, who is right who is wrong, whats her fault? All these questions didn't have any answers! Everything was so complicated that she hardly felt any more hurt. It was gone. The pain, the humiliation, the countless emotions that led to her condition flew out of the window. But the scars remained like a whole in her heart. She would never forgive yash! Never! Deepak broke her trust! And she would never trust him again! Kriti abhi and meghana, they needed yash and they needed nandini too. But nandini had to make a choice. Her choice was simple but it wasn't easy.
The medicines were showing its power, she was feeling sleepy and she didn't like it! She wanted to be awake. She wanted to scold herself for being weak. She wanted to yell at herself for breaking down as though the whole world came crashing down. She hated herself. She hated being so weak! She just hated it! But the sedatives didn't let her be awake. Her eye were tired and eye lashes were begging to be shut. But she struggled to be awake. "yeah yeah.. aunty.. you don't worry. She is doing fine now. Yeah she is sleepy. Haan aunty I have given her meds. .. oh hi uncle.. haan I am taking care of her. Yes shantamma is also there.. haan.. I have given her soup, doctor had told us to. She has taken her meds uncle don't worry.. she will sleep through the morning.. oh okay.. when are you coming? Oh how late uncle? You will reach by night? Oh that's fine.. haan uncle my-" nandini couldn't hear navya's phone conversation anymore. As her eyes shut close demanding for sleep. But before going to sleep she faintly thought she could have spoken to her parents! She missed them.
Somewhere in her sleep, she had half conscious. No matter how badly she wanted to be awake she just couldn't. but yet again she heard half phone-conversation of navya. "I told you not call!! You always do this! Stubburn!!! She is fineee..!!! will you just relax for god sake? Haw! You don't trust me? I can take care of her better than u do okay. Now YOU GO BACK TO SLEEP!!!" navya almost yelled at the person other side. This made nandini stir in her sleep. She didn't know whom navya was talking to. And finally sleep took over her!
Love, like,crush,attraction,infatuation nothing remains on our will! It happens just like that! But how we handle this remains in our hands, and that's the true quest of life! Very few people are lucky enough to get attracted to their crush whom they like and fall in love with! But its those very lucky one's who get the same love in return.
But its not neccasaary to expect that from life, is it? Because what happens is ought to happen and at the end we will reach where our destiny lies!! The path we chose is the one that decides whether happiness comes in out tow or the pain.
Nandini never expected yash to be her love/soulmate. But giving him that special place in her heart wasn't her decision, it was her heart's! she respected that and she did all that she could to no cross path with him! Or do anything that would disturb him. Then why? Why was she treated like this? Did she desrve this pain? Was what Deepak did right? Was what yash did right? If yash was wrong then so was Deepak! Deepak has broke her trust, it didn't count whether he did right or wrong. Trust once again is hard to come to back!
It was afternoon when nandini finally woke from deep slumber. She got out of her bed to freshen up. Her head was still throbbing hard and she couldn't control herself from feeling bad about what happened. She needed a BREAK!
"you are not allowed to!!" came the authorative voice of navya when nandini returned to her room. Nandini groaned holding her head. "have your lunch and GO BACK TO SLEEP!!! Doctor has clearly told a little stress can worsen your migraine"
Nandini whined. Migraine! She hadn't had it since ages!!! Then why was she having now? Oh thanks to those dear brothers. She would strangle each one of them once she was strong enough to walk without an inch of pain in her stupid little head.
"I am not hungry!" nandini made a face seeing porridge. Doctor had clearly instructed not to give her any hard food and to be on healthy diet! But navya paid no heed to her moans, for she continued to feed her brushing off all the tantrums.
"wait a sec! don't you have your exams tomorrow?" nandini stared at navya sceptically. Navya was just 2 years elder to her and was doing her M.Tech. navya bit her lip. "I do.." navya looked down. Nandini glared at her "Get your ass back to your room AND START STUDYING!" nandini said sternly at her. Nandini squirmed at her own loud voice, her head paining again!
"alright alright don't scream!! Hey! I am the one to take care of you so let me DOMINATE! I am going back to my studies and you to your sleep! NOW!" nandini didn't reply nevertheless navya took it for a agreement and went back to her room.
The clock ticked 4pm and nandini hit her head as she realized something. It was the last day she had before she submitted her project tomorrow! And she hadn't even completed the last set of reports and testing of her project. Oh hell! She had even requested Adhish's help. He probably would be wondering where the hell she was. She had to go! She had go and finish her project. She had to go to college! She had to face it!!!
"would you relax for god sake? You DON'T come here!!!! What will I answer her haan? What has happened is enough I don't want to give another shocking news to her! Btw she hates you know ... yeah yeah whatever.. you lost your bet! She doesn't remember you.. chapter close.. now finish off your work and get your ass back to your house! mom is waitin!" nandini confusedly scratched her head. Was she dreaming again? Navya was speaking on the phone with the same tone she had used to speak with someone on the phone last night. Who was she talking to ? who that her' in her conversation. First nandini thought of convincing navya to let her go, but seeing navya she chose instead.
Nandini left a note on her desk and exited the house without shantamma and navya's notice.
my project work is important. I have to go! I will be back soon I promise. I am sorry..' navya read the note again and sighed. The tablets were lying on the bedside table. Doctor had strictly told her that nandini shouldn't miss any tablets else she would be serious this time. Navya wished nandini could have atleast cared to take her tablets. Muttering some curses under her breath she dialled a number.
"Just Just Remember One freaking thing! If you ever come infront of my eyes, I don't know what will I do! And for god sake Stop speaking about me to anyone!! I feel disgusted to even think You like me! and more than that Because of you my brother is angry on me! Just STAY OUT OF OUR LIVES! You got that?" the voice rang in her ears. Memories of previous day came flooded infront of her.
She could hear whispers from other students as she walked towards the research wing. It was as if suddenly she was an alien to everyone! Those narrowing-eye looks, those mocking expressions, those howling voice made her wince. And her head knocked inside her skull once again! She held her head and struggled to not faint again. Here navya wasn't there to hold her, here shantamma wasn't there to prepare hot soup for her! She had to take care of her ownself. And this stupid migraine made her notch all her hair out of her head.
She sat on the bench outside the research wing, the new chemistry block was clearly visible from the place. She wanted a distraction and she found one! She saw how every student in the college was running here and there decorating the basement of half-built building. Then her eyes moved towards the little kids who were feasting on the muddy water! There was a huge pool of mud-water just outside the research wing and front of chemistry block. The kids of the worker were having gala time jumping and splashing water from that to each other. She wanted to go and tell them that its unhealthy. But she couldn't! the innocent faces made her heart warm. The rich kids find their happiness in those countless toys they buy spending so much money, but these kids were feeling heaven on earth with just unhealthy-disgusting-mud-pool! Talk about innocence!
Suddenly she felt someone's presense. It didn't take her long time to guess adhish was standing next to her- glaring at her! "what are you doing here?" he asked coldly. Nandini wondered whats with that tone?'
"you forgot? MY PROJECT!! You were to help me!!!!!" nandini literally shrieked. Expression on his face didn't change! He continued to glare at her. "Oh your angry I didn't come? I am so sorry.. you know actually.. I was not-"
"shouldn't you be resting?" he interrupted her.
Nandini stopped her sentence and stared at him. How did he know?
"how do-" nandini started but again was interrupted by him. "Are you a superwoman? Gosh Girl!!! Why cant you take rest? Is that an IMPOSSIBLE task for you?" he growled losing his cool.
"yes it is!! Why do you care?" she retored. Adhish stopped himself before he could say something that would change everything between them forever! He couldn't efford to lose her. "huh! Lets finish the project.." he said walking inside. He knew if he started arguing with her they would never stop. A confused nandini followed him.
For next one hour, they worked on the project. No actually adhish worked! He didn't let nandini do anything, nandini didn't have strength to object either. Just testing the system was the only job left, and that didn't need her to stress her brains, because adhish did it for her. Nandini simply watched him work while she sat beside him, still wondering how did he know. "how did you know I was not well?" she voiced her thought. Adhish shrugged. In past one hour he tried his best to ignore and avoid the question, but nandini is Nandini!
"you wont let it go until you get an answer! Do you?"
"nope.. now tell me!!!" nandini urged. Adhish sighed "i.. um.. yeah I called your mobile.. your friend received and she told me you wer not well!"
"oh." Was all nandini said.
Another hour later, nandini waited patiently for the system to load completely. "80%" showed the monitor, nandini sighed. 20% more to go! She muttered to herself. Adhish was sitting next to her typing something on his PC and glancing at her every now and then as if he was baby sitting her. Nandini wanted to question him the same, but his phone rang before she could ask him.
He excused himself to attend the call, nandini nodded. As adhish exited, the power went off leaving the upload in pause. Nandini called out to him but he had already gone. Not knowing what to do to resume the upload, nandini followed adhish.
"haaan.. she is fine.. no I am trying to do it asap! You don't worry.. I will bring her home safely.." nandini wondered whom was he talking to but mentally slapped herself for eavesdropping his personal call. Just as she was about to go back she heard him say- "offfo navya!!! I promise!!! I will bring her back safely!!! Stop worrying will you? .. hmm.. no I haven't told her yet.. I don't think it's the right to break the news.. I am just upset she doesn't remember me.. and.. yeah guess I lost the bet!" nandini froze.
Everything fell into pieces. The calls navya used to receive was from adhish. Adhish and navya knew each other. Adhish? ADHISH? OMG!!! Adhish! Nandini cursed under her breath. How could she not know him? She felt betrayed when she realized who adhish was. But the bet thing was still a mystery. Adhish put a bet on her? Oh now she could guess whats this all about. She felt betrayed from everyone.
Deepak-her best friend broke her trust.
Navya-who was sister like also betrayed her and so did the stupid-idiot-monster adhish!
She couldn't trust anyone! Not even her friends- kriti,abhi or meghana! They hadn't even called to check on her!!!!
Taking back steps she ran out of the building. she leaned on the wall eyes closed ready to cry. But sudden explosion made her jerk. Infront of her all she could see was FIRE.
