Here is the 3rd and last part of this SS. I'm not much aware of medical and drug rehabilitation and legal procedure, so please excuse me if there is any mistake in the content because of that

Arjun: Hello... Payal ... Dada bol raha hoon...

Payal is in shock to hear his voice. She barely managed to address him in a cracked voice, "Dada"

Arjun: Kaisi hai Payal?

Payal starts crying uncontrolablly.

Arjun: Payal... Payal... ro mat beta... ye kya kar liya tuney... tu to meri bahadur gudiya thi na... itni kamzor kaise pad gayi?

Payal(still crying): Nahi Dada!!!! tumhare janey k baad ehsas hua ki meri saari taakat tumse thi... tumhare jatey hi meri sari bahaduri bhi tumhare saath chali gayi... u were everyting to me Dada... my life has no meaning without u ...

Arjun(depressed): I'm sorry Payal... sab meri galti hai... mai hi josh mein aake ... Baba se jhagda karke ... ghar chhodke aa gaya... Aur pata nahi mai Baba ko is baat k liye doshi kyun thehra raha tha... Sameer theek keh raha tha... Baba ne to kabhi mujhe bhi waqt nahi diya... to fir tumhe kaise sambhaltey wo... isiliye shayad Aai ne mujhse vaada liya tha ki mai tumhara khayal rakhunga... par mai hi swaarthi ho gaya aur... Aai ko diya hua vaada nahi nibha paya... agar mai tumhe chhodke nahi aata ... to shayad ye sab nahi hota...

Payal(wiping her tears): Nahi Dada... aapki koi galti nahi hai... aapne to wohi kiya jo sahi tha...aapko kaun nahi janta Dada... kitno ko insaaf dilaya hai aapne... kitno ki mada ki hai... Aur rahi meri baat to... apni is haalat ki zimmedar mai hi hoon... mai hi kamzor pad gayi... nahi sambhal paayi khud ko... aap apne aapko ya Baba ko dosh mat dijiye... mai hi aap ki aur Baba ki ummedon par khari nahi utar paayi... i'm a big disappointment for both of you

There is a silence for a while

Arjun: Pata hai...Jab Sameer ne mujhe ye baat batayi... mujhe to yakeen hi nahi hua... ki meri ye Payal hai ...

Payal is quiet.

Arjun: Dekh... ab bhi kuch nahi bigda hai ... mai janta hoon ki tu galat dosto k saath is buri aadat ka shikar huyi hai... apne un doston ka saath chhod de... sab theek ho jayega...

Payal is understanding what Arjun was saying. It was late in the evening and it was Payal's time to have drugs so she started feeling restless.

Payal cuts him short trying to hide her condition from him.

Payal:Dada... wo mai aapse baad mein baat karoon... mujhe ek friend ki party mein jana hai...

Arjun: OK... i hope ye tumhari koi achchhi friend hai... koi galat company nahi...

Payal: nahi bhaiya... aisa kuch nahi hai... mai apko baad mein call karti hoon... Bye...

Payal disconnects the call.

She runs towards her drawer where her drug laced cigarettes are kept. She takes one cigarette out and is about to light it when she remembers Arjun's words. She throws all the cigarettes in the dustbin and goes to her bed and tries to sleep to distract herself. She is sweating profusely. She was still restless. She tries to be strong remembering Arjun's words and avoid the drugs. She was happy after so many days. But her body was so used to drugs that it was getting difficult for her to sustain without drugs.

She falls unconscious.

Mr Suryakant Rawte was informed by his lawyer about Payal's arrest from rave party and he was furious. Till now he was aware about her drinking habits and getting caught several times for driving under influence of alcohol. But he was not aware of her drug addiction.

He storms into Rawte mansion and screams

Mr Rawte(screamng): Payal!!!! Payal!!!!

A servant comes and informs him that she is in her bedroom. He goes to her room and knocks but she doesn't open the door. He orders a servant to break open the door and founds her lying unconscious.

Part 3B

All his anger vanishes and he was genuinely worried for his daughter now. He takes her to the hospital. Mr Rawte informs doctor about Payal's drug addiction.

Payal is taken inside and a team of doctors start treating her.

Mr Rawte was sitting outside thinking about the events happened in the past and was disturbed with the Payal's drug addiction.

He was trying to analyse the situation thinking where exactly things went wrong and Payal was dragged on the path of self destruction. He also thought about Arjun. He knew about Arjun's bravery acts and the awards that he had won. He was proud of his son but could never express it because of his ego and he knew that his son has inherited this ego from him and he too would never come back.

All the events of past flashed in front of his eyes.

His happy family... a loving and caring wife... two sweet children... a perfect family.

And then came a big blow ... his wife detected with cancer ... he spent all his savings for her treatment but still couldn't save her.

He felt defeated but this gave him a big lesson for lifetime that life is uncertain. He feared for his children. What would happen to them if anything happens to him. All he could think then was just earn more and more money to give his children a comfortable life. Even after his death, his children should not be dependent on others for financial support.

But with the course of time, this feeling of insecurity turned into his passion and obsession for success and with all favourable conditions he built a huge business empire on his own and always wished his children to take it forward.

He was taken aback when Arjun refused to join him and instead chose to join police force, He tried all the ways to stop Arjun but in vain. Arjun went his way. But looking at his nature of job, he life was always in danger. As a father he feared for Arjun's life. He also started planning for Arjun's future family.

He also planned to involve Payal in business but he was waiting for the right time. She was young and held him responsible for Arjun leaving the home.

But he was disappointed when Payal started drinking and creating ruckus at public places to embarrass him. He ignored it for the time being. He thought to give her some time to compose herself.

But today when he got to know that Payal had become a victim of drug abuse, he realised that it was a mistake on his part to ignore Payal earlier. If he had talked to her earlier, he could have saved her.

He was disappointed with himself. He felt and urge to talk to someone who would understand him and his point of view. He closed his eyes and felt a palm on his shoulder and heard someone calling him

"Mr Rawte"

He opened his eyes and looked up and saw a young man looking at him with compassion.

A few minutes back.

Sameer had come to meet a friend in hospital. While he was leaving he saw some commotion. It seemed to be a case of emergency. A girl was being taken inside. He looked at her and was shocked. It was Payal. He saw Mr Suryakant Rawte worried. He went to check what was the matter. He heard Mr Rawte talking to doctor. After Payal was taken inside, he saw Mr Rawte in a dilemma thinking something.

He called up Arjun and told him about Payal being in hospital explaining him the situation. After talking to Arjun, he walked to Mr Rawte. He observed him for a few minutes and put his palm on Mr Rawte's shoulder and called him

Mr Rawte was confused looking at Sameer.

Sameer: Mr Rawte... I'm Sameer ... ACP Sameer Rathod ... Narcotics cell chief ... aur ...(takes a pause) Arjun ka dost...

Mr Rawte was a little tense but did not know how to react.

Sameer: Kya hua Payal ko?

Mr Rawte(worried): Pata nahi... mai uske kamre mein gaya usse baat karne to dekha wo behosh thi ... to mai usey yahan le aaya...

Sameer: kya aapko pata hai wo drugs leti hai?

Mr Rawte(surprised and embarassed): Haan... mujhe aaj hi mere lawyer se pata chala... par aapko kaise pata?

Sameer: Mai hi kal ki rave party ka investigating officer hoon... jahan wo dusre logo k saath pakdi gayi thi...

Mr Rawte: kya usey kal k case mein bail mil sakti hai?

Sameer: ye mai abhi nahi bata sakta Mr Rawte... blood test ki reports aane k baad pata chalega... par mai koshish karunga ki usey bail mil jaye...

Mr Rawte: Thanks officer ... i just hope ki abhi sab theek ho jaye... mujhe darr hai ki kahi isne drugs ka overdose na le liya ho...

Sameer: mujhe bhi yahi darr hai... pata nahi ye bachche kyun apni zindagi ke saath kheltey hain...(flares up) aur ye drug dealers in bachcho ki haalat ka faayda uthate hain...inhe to faasi honi chahiye...

Doctors come out with Payal's reports and explains Mr Rawte and Sameer that Payal had not taken any drugs. In fact she avided taking drugs but her body could ont take this change and reacted this way that her internal systems went weak and she collapsed. This was actually a good sign that she herself was trying to get rid of drugs. Doctors had given her the necessary medication and advised Mr Rawte to take her to a rehabilitation centre for her further treatment.

Sameer and Mr Rawte were relieved to know this. But still Mr Rawte was bothered. Sameer makes him sit on a bench outside the ward. Mr Rawte felt very comfortable in Sameer's company. Sameer was a mature and understanding person. Mr Rawte was touched by his behaviour towards him and felt like opening up in front of him.

Mr Rawte: Pata nahi ye sab kyun hua... Mai to sirf apne bachcho ka future secure karna chahta tha ... nahi chahta tha ki jin haalat se kabhi mai guzra tha unhi haalat se mere bachhe bhi guzre... maine kaunsa galat kadam uthaya jo aaj meri duniya hi badal gayi...

Sameer: Kya aap sachmuch nahi Jantey ki is sab ki wajah kya hai?

Mr Rawte(defending himself): Officer!! kya aap ye kehna chahtey hain ki mai galat hoon... maine apne bachcho ki parvarish theek se nahi ki... maine haar gaya unko achchhe sanskar dene mein? Mai unhe koi khushi nahi de paya?

Sameer: Dekhiye ... mai aap se ye nahi keh raha hoon ki aap galat hain... par ek baar apne aap se pooch ke dekhiye ... ki kya aap poori tarah se sahi hain? jo faisla aapne liya ... kya ussey koi khush hua? kya aap khud khush huye? Nahi Mr Rawte ... aap khush nahi huye... koi bhi pita is tarah apne bachcho ko apne dil se door karke khush nahi ho sakta...

Mr Rawte closes his eyes. After a few seconds he opens his eyes and tells Sameer about his past.

Mr Rawte: Shayad aap sahi keh rahey hain Officer...

Sameer: please ... mujhe Sameer keh ke bulaiye... mujhe achchha lagega...

Mr Rawte passes a faint smile.

Sameer patiently listens to him.

A lone tear escapes his eyes.

Sameer feels sorry for Mr Rawte.

Mr Rawte: Dushman nahi hoon mai apne bachchon ka ... par shayad kabhi samajh hi nahi paaya unhe aur naa hi unhe ye samjha paya kabhi ki mai unse kitna pyaar karta hoon...Jab bhi Payal sharab peeke kuch hungama karti thi... humesha mujhse milna avoid karti thi... to kabhi samjha nahi paya usko... aur aaj jab Payal ke drug addiction ke barey mein pata chala... to socha tha ki aaj ussey baat karke theek se samjhaunga... par use pehle hi wo ... (his words trail off)

Sameer: dheeraj rakhiye Mr Rawte... sab theek ho jayega... aur sabse achchhi baat to ye ki wo khud drugs se chhutkara chahti hai...

Mr Rawte(in tears): Kaash mai apne dono bachcho ko apne dil ki baat keh pata ... unse maafi mang pata ... unhe ye samjha pata ki maine jo kuch bhi kiya... unhi ki khatir kiya... ... mai apne bachcho k saath khush rehna chahta tha... par shayad ye humare naseeb mein hi nahi tha... par jo bhi hua uske liye shayad mai hi zimmedar hoon... mere hi galat faislon ki wajah se...

Arjun: Nahi Baba!!! aisa mat kahiye...

Some time back.

Arjun panicked to get a call from Sameer and he rushed to the hospital.

Arjun came to hospital and heard what his dad was telling to Sameer about his past and felt guilty. He knew his father's actions were harsh but his intentions were always good. He could understand his pain of losing his wife. And what he said was correct. He felt bad when his dad held himself responsible for all the mess. That is when he spoke up

Arjun: I'm sorry Papa... maine aapka bahut dil dukhaya hai... par kya karoon... ye zid aur ego bhi to mujhe aapse hi mila hai...

He comes forward and hugs Mr Rawte and Mr Rawte breaks down hugging him back.

Arjun: Mai bhi to aapke jazbaaton ko samajh nahi paaya... aap apni jagah sahi they... aap ko meri fikar thi... is liye aapne ye sab kiya... aap galat nahi hain...

Mr Rawte: mai bhi to kabhi tumhari ichchhaon ko samajh nahi paaya... par beta ek baat jo kabhi nahi keh paya... yakeen maano... jab kabhi news mein tumhari bahaduri ke kisse dekhta hoon, padhta hoon... mujhe bahut khushi hoti hai... garv hota hai ki tum mere bete ho...

Arjun: Baba ... aapne itna keh diya... aur mujhe kuch nahi chahiye...

They are quiet for some time. Arjun inquires about Payal and Sameer gives hima quick update.

Sameer being Narcotics chief knew about some rehabilitation centres. He inquires about one such centre and tells Arjun and Mr Rawte about it. They talk to the doctor and doctor permits them to take Payal there next day.

Payal was still under the effect of the medicines that were given her to keep her calm.

----------------------------

Next day they take unconscious Payal to the rehab centre. When Payal re-gains her consciousness, she finds herself in strange surroundings and panics.

A nurse comes and tells her to keep calm and tells an attendant to call the doctor.

A sweet lady comes and introduces herself to Payal as Dr Roshni Pathak.

Dr. Roshni Pathak:

She checks Payal and informs her that she is in rehab centre. She is confused. All she could remember was she talked to Arjun last before faling unconcsious. She didnt know whom to ask for. Doctor understands her state of mind and tells her to relax and leaves.

After some time Dr Roshni comes back with Arjun and Mr Rawte. Payal was shocked to see them together and at the same time embarassed and couldnt meet their eyes. She was waiting for her father to blast at her but what followed was something she never expected.

Mr Rawte came close to her and kissed her forehead.

Mr Rawte: I'm sorry beta!!! mere ek galat faisle ne tumhari zindagi barbad kar di...

Payal: Baba... (breaks into tears)

Arjun comes forward and wipes her and Mr Rawte's tears and they get into a big family hug. Nothing was left to be said. They understood each other.

Payal: I'm sorry Baba... I'm sorry Dada... maine jo kiya wo maafi k layak to nahi hai... lekin mai ek aur mauka chahti hoon... aur mai vaada karti hoon ki is baar mai aap dono ki saari ummeedein poori karungi...

Mr Rawte: That's my Payal ... meri bachchi ... i love u ...

Sameer enters with a good news.

Sameer: parso ki party ki reports aa gayi hain... Payal k blood samples mein drugs ka bahut negligible amount mila hai ... case to banega par bail bhi mil jayegi aur kyunki ab Payal rehbb centre mein aa chuki hai ... usey koi sazaa nahi hogi... par jurmana lagega ...

Arjun, Payal and Mr Rawte are relieved to know this.

Payal's treatment goes on for a few weeks and she was improving. Arjun, Sameer and Mr Rawte used to come to meet her regularly. Sameer had beocme a part of Rawte household. He had also grown closer to Payal as her second dada. Doctors assured her that she will be able to go home for Diwali. She was happy that after years she will be able to celebrate Diwali and Bhai-dooj with her Baba and dada.

Payal was not oblivious to her Arjun Dada's behaviour towards Dr Roshni. She along with Sameer used to tease Arjun for being attracted to Roshni and Arjun used to get embarrassed. But he knew that they were right. He liked Dr Roshni.

One day, when Payal stepped out of her room to go out in the garden area, she saw Sameer with a girl. She couldn't see the face of the girl. Sameer was consoling her by keeping his hand on her shoulder. After a few mins the girl went out towards the garden area and Sameer came towards her room and found her standing out.

Sameer: hey Payal !! mai tumhi se milne aa raha tha...par tum yahan darwaze par kyun khadi ho aise?

Payal(with a mischievious smile): really Dada... mujhse milne aaye they aap ?

Sameer looks at her with a question mark. She moves towards the garden area and Sameer follows her.

Payal(winks): kaun thi wo?

Sameer(his eyes popped out): Kaun?

Payal: ohh please Dada ...Arjun Dada ki tarah drama nahi ... wo kaun thi jiske kandhe par haath rakhke aap pyar se samjha rahey they... usey dilasa de rahe they?

Sameer(blushes, trying to hide his emotions): wo... wo meri ek colleague thi ...

Payal(raises her eye brows): Sirf colleague...sach mein?

Sameer(again tries to hide his emotions): sach mein... actually uska bada bhai bhi drug abuse ka shikar hai ... aur martey marte bacha hai ... uski haalat tumse zyada kharab thi ... wo bahut saalon tak drugs leta raha hai... badi mushkil se theek ho raha hai wo ... (depressed)

Payal: i'm sorry Dada... par aap fikar mat kijiye... wo bhi theek ho jayega... aakhir wo bada bhai hi to uska kanya daan karega... jab aap dono ki shadi hogi...

Sameer(Frowns): Payal!!...

Payal runs giggling and Sameer stands there blushing and smiling for a few minutes. But this is broken within a few minuntes when he hears Payal shouting on someone.

A few minutes back when Payal went to the garden area. She saw "her" standing near a patient. Payal was shocked to see her here. She couldn't believe her eyes. She was furious at her. It was Nadiya whom Payal had seen in rave parties performing at rave parties accompanying the drug peddlers.

Payal goes and shouts at her. Nadiya was in tears.

Payal: Tum Nadiya ho na... Ronnie k drug peddler gang ki important player aur performer... tum yahan... (looks at the patient with her) ...(sarcastically) tumhara bhi koi rishtedar yaha hai ... ab tumhe pata chalega ki drugs lene k kitne nuksan hotey hain... ye sirf ek insaan nahi balki uske poore pariwar ko barbad kar deta hai... tumhe to jail mein hona chahiye... pata nahi kitni zindagiyan barbad ki hain tumne ... tum ... (she is cut short by Sameer)

Sameer: Payal... ye Insp. Aisha hai ... Special officer of Narcotics bureau... ek undercover agent ... un drug peddlers k beech rehkar... apni jaan par khel kar.. ye hi humein unki information deti hai ... isi ki tip off par humne us din raid ki thi us party mein...

Payal is shocked. She apologizes to Aisha.

Payal: I'm sorry officer ... mujhe pata nahi tha...

Aisha: Its OK ... tum sach nahi janti thi... isliye tumne aisa kaha...par jo bhi tumne kaha ... bilkul sach tha ... drugs ka nasha sirf 1 insaan ko nahi... balki uske poore parivar ko barbad kar deta hai ... mera bhi parivar iska shikar hua... aur isiliye maine ye challenge accept kiya ... mai is jurm ko jad ukhaad kar fenkna chahti hoon... nahi chahti ki kisi aur ke saath ye ho...

Payal: Dont worry ... sab theek hi hoga ... (mischieviously) Mere Dada hain na (points to Sameer) ... inka saath kabhi mat chhodna ...

Sameer glares at her and Aisha doesnt understand what she meant.

On Diwali. At Rawte Mansion.

Arjun, Sameer and Payal were busy decorating the house.

Sameer couldn't go to him hometown as he didn't get his leaves approved. But his mother had sent lots of homemade sweets and other stuff for him. But he was not sad either. He was celebrating the festival with his new family.

He was happy to have a little sister like Payal.

They had invited Dr Roshni and Aisha for Diwali and Payal was having fun looking at her brother's blushing in presence of their respective lady loves.

As usual Arjun scared Payal with crackers but this time she had Sameer by her side fighting with Arjun.

On Bhai dooj

Payal, Arjun, and Mr Rawte get emotional.

They were celebrating it together after a long time.

Sameer too got emotional. He didn't have a sister and felt happy that for the first time in life someone will be doing his "Tilak" on Bhai dooj.

Payal does the "Tilak" to both her brothers and as a gift she demands for her "Bhabhis" opening their secret in front of Mr Rawte.

Mr Rawte bursts into laughter hearing that Arjun was in love with Dr Roshni and Sameer was in love with Aisha.

Both of them are embarrassed and furious at her for this.

They try to get hold of her but she runs away sticking her tongue out to them and they chase her around the house.

Mr Rawte was still laughing so hard looking at their antics that his eyes well up in a few seconds. He looks at his wife's photo with teary eyes and smiles.

His family was together again and was going to be complete soon.
