A large crowd waiting for Reyaansh Singhania (Kunwar Amarjeet Singh)(Rey in short), a successful musician whose career is waning because of his alcohol addiction, to perform at a stage show in Goa. He is unexpectedly interrupted by Aryan (A random boy)during his performance. Rey fights with him, stops his performance, and drives to a local bar. He meets Taani Shekhawat (Vrinda Wadwa), a bar singer who idolizes Rey. After noticing Taani looking at a photograph of Lata Mangeshkar in the bar, he assumes that she wants to become a singer. Impressed by her simplicity and voice, Rey promises to transform her into a singing sensation, and asks her to never perform again in bars. Taani leaves her job and returns to Mumbai with Rahul, who convinces record producer Saigal to meet her. When Taani calls Rey, he is unable to receive her call as he is attacked and injured by some unknown people. His friend and manager Swayum (Shantanu Maheshwari) says that news of Rey's accident should not be leaked to the media, and instead publicizes a false story that Rey has left the country to participate in stage shows. When Taani attempts to contact Rey again, Swayum ignores the calls. After two months of fruitlessly attempting to contact Rey, a heart-broken Taani is forced to sing in bars again because of her family problems.

After recovering from his injuries, Rey vows to search for Taani. He learns that Taani is working in a bar and that Swayum had ignored her calls without informing him. Rey apologizes to Taani nd sacks Swayum, and they meet with Saigal for the recording agreement. Rey begins to train Taani, who signs a music contract to sing in films and becomes a successful playback singer. Her family and Rey are happy, but when people begin to gossip that Rey is using her as a servant, he relapses into alcohol addiction. Taani, who loves Rey more than her career, comforts him and they spend the night together. Despite Taani's mother's disapproval, Taani moves in with Rey and things go well until Rey's addiction worsens, causing him to become aggressive and violent.

To help Rey fight his alcoholism, Taani attempts to rehabilitate Rey, sacrificing her singing career in doing so. After Saigal reminds them about their dream of Taani becoming a successful singer, Rey orders her to focus on her work. During Taani's stage show, Rey meets a journalist backstage, who accuses him of using Taani for pleasure and money. Furious, Rey attacks the journalist and starts drinking again. He ends up in jail, and Taani comes to bail him out. Rey overhears Taani telling Saigal that she is going to leave her singing career for him because Rey is more important to her. Rey understands that he has become a burden to her, and that leaving her is his only option to save her. The next day he bids her farewell and commits suicide.

Distraught by Rey's death, Taani decides to give up her career. Swayum reminds her that Rey wanted her to become a successful singer and gave up his life as he felt that he was her weakness. Taani changes her mind, and is shown performing in a packed auditorium. Taani is later approached by a couple who ask for her autograph; she signs with the name "Taani Reyaansh Singhania", as a tribute to Rey and her unsung desire to marry him. The film ends with a sprinkling of rain, as Taani watches the couple share a romantic moment under a jacket, just as Rey and Taani did.

THE END HOPE YOU LIKE

Taani (Vrinda Wadwa) is a shy and nerdy medical student. She studies constantly and always tops her classes, however she feels like outcast. An encounter with an old classmate, Sharon (Vrushika Mehta), makes her realize that she wants more from life than high marks. She makes an impulsive decision to follow Sharon on a commercial hiking trip into the Himalayas, up to Manali. During the hike, she renews her friendship with another former classmate, Reyaansh "Rey" Singhania (Kunwar Amarjeet Singh). Rey is a handsome charmer whose dream is to wander and discover the world. He does not plan to marry or settle down.

In the course of the mountain trek, Rey and Taani draw closer to each other. Rey teaches Taani to laugh, to play, and to love. At the end of the trip, she is close to telling Rey how she feels, but is interrupted by their friend Swayum(Shantanu Maheshwari). He accidentally finds a letter accepting Rey to graduate school in journalism, at Northwestern University. Rey explains that the trip is his last fling before he leaves. He will be sad to leave his friends, but happy to start a career that will lead to the travels of which he dreams.

Taani realizes that love and marriage has no part in Rey's plans and remains silent about her feelings but is happy for Rey as he is following his passion.

Eight years pass. Taani finishes medical school and works in a clinic. Rey works as a television cameraman for travel shows and roams the world, as he had planned. They meet again in Udaipur, for Sharom's lavish wedding to Taran (A randon boy), an awkward but adoring engineer. Rey and Swayum lso renew their friendship.

Taani and Rey are strongly attracted to each other again. Both resist love - Rey because he does not want to give up a dream job he has been offered (as a travel show host), Taani because she fears that Rey will break her heart again. A day before the wedding, Rey sees Taani with another man. He is Taani's friend, but Rey assumes him to be her boyfriend and feels jealous. Rey and Taani meet, argue, and reveal their feelings by a kiss. Yet neither of them is willing to give up a career to follow the other. It seems that their romance is doomed.

On New Year's Eve, as Taani sits alone at home. Someone at the door ... Rey! He has turned down the dream job, though he still plans to travel. Somehow they can make a life with two careers work, he argues. Taani agrees and love wins the day.
