I'm torn after watching today's episode, mostly because I cannot decide if it is right for Jalal to repossess or attempt to, the fort that he promised as a gift. Technically, it is in his right to attack and attempt to seize the fort, because the owners obviously failed to give it the necessary protection to ward off enemy invasions, because, he is doing what everyone did in that era, acquire territories. It isn't dishonorable of him to do so, if we overlook the fact that he had given the said fort as a gift prior to his devious attempt to occupy it again. I don't think I can isolate the decision as "good" or "bad", in light of the series of events that ultimately led to this. Firstly, it wasn't right of the groom's family to make such excessive demands, and it wasn't right of Sharif-ud-din to promise anything unauthorized the Emperor. Jalal cannot be blamed. The Ratanpur fort was a militarily and strategically important possession, and a good vantage point on enemy territory. On the other hand, Sukanya's life lay in tatters and the quasi-likeness that had developed between Jodha and Jalal in the last few days, which could have been the precursor of more to come, was hanging by a thread. I agree with his decision. But, I imagine his Jodha Begum won't be too happy about it. 😆
