Viren was kicked outside his wife's room and he wondered what to do now. Why was she behaving so weird all of a sudden? He decided to go sit in the family area and turned the tv on until Jeevika's mother called him to come eat dinner. He got up and went to get Jeevika, but the door was locked. v - "Why the hell did she lock the room?"
Viren knocked on the door and got no response. He knocked a few more times.
v - "Jeevika are you okay?"
He didn't get a reply from her. He had a little butterfly in his stomach as he was scared why Jeevika wasn't replying. He took his phone and sent her a message.
"Are you okay? Open the door... NOW!!!!" he texted her.
Within twenty-seconds he got a reply back from her:
"Coming in five. Go start eating"
v - "I don't know how I handle her sometimes" he said to himself.
Viren walked to the dining area and sat down for dinner. Her parents were sitting there and wondering why Jeevika wasn't coming.
v - "She said she's coming in five minutes" he said to her parents.
They all started setting their plates up and Jeevika finally came. She sat next to Viren not making any eye-contact with him. She put her food on the plate and started eating.
v - "What took you so long?"
j - "Uhm nothing"
v - "Why are you being all weird all of a sudden?"
j - "Viren I told you its nothing" she said in an angrier tone.
j mom - "Jeevika you sure you okay?"
j - "Seriously I said I'm fine. I'm not even hungry. I'm going sleep" and with that she stormed out the dining area and to her room. Viren was puzzled at why she was behaving so weird all of a sudden.
Viren put some food on a plate for Jeevika.
v - "I think she's tired. She was complaining at the hotel too"
j mom - "You eat here, I'll take her food inside"
v - "No its okay I'll take it for her. I think she forgot to take her meds also. Maybe thats why she's feeling sick and grumpy"
Viren went inside the room and saw Jeevika all changed and getting into her bed.
v - "You didn't take your medicines today did you?"
j - "Let me sleep please" she said getting inside her bed
v - "Jeevika Vadhera sit down right now and stop acting like a kid" he said strongly.
Jeevika felt a little scared and sat back up on the bed with the blanket covering her. Viren sat down right besides her.
v - "You care to explain what happened in the spam of ten minutes" he said feeding her a bite.
Jeevika quietly ate and was about to answer when her mom walked inside the room.
j mom - "Did she take her medicines?" she asked Viren.
v - "I don't think so" he said looking at her.
j mom - "I'll get it" she said walking to the bathroom and opening the medicine cabinet. She got her medicines and gave it to her with a glass of water. Jeevika took it and then gave the glass to Viren.
j mom - "Is everything okay?"
j - "Yes, can you both let me sleep please"
j mom - "After you eat"
j - "I'm not hungry anymore"
v - "Oh yes you are" he said giving her another bite.
j - "This is the last"
v - "We'll see"
Jeevika took a bite and then moved away and fluffed up her pillow so she could lay down.
v - "You drive me crazy sometimes, I hope you know"
j - "Thanks. Now let me sleep"
Jeevika's mom took the plate from Viren and left the room while he went inside the bathroom to change. He came out and saw his wife with fast asleep.
v - "Something is going on and she's not telling me" he thought to himself
Viren lay down next to her and fell asleep within a few minutes.
Viren woke up bright and early the next morning, while Jeevika slept through. He freshened up and went ouside in the hall to see Jeevika's parents having tea.
v - "Goodmorning"
j dad - "Goodmorning beta. Come sit"
Viren sat down near Jeevika's dad while Jeevika's mom went to go get him coffee.
j dad - "Is Jeevika asleep still?"
v - "Yeah, actually her new medications make her very drowsy plus she's been working so much the past few months so she trying to get all the sleep she can" he said smiling
j dad - "She really does know how to overwork herself"
v - "Thats forsure"
j dad - "Viren I'm going out for a walk, you want to come with me?"
v - "Sure. I'll just go get my phone really quickly"
Viren went to get his phone from inside and left for a walk with Jeevika's dad.
j dad - "Actually Viren I wanted to talk to you about something"
Viren got a little nervous. He wasn't sure what her dad wanted to talk about.
j dad - "Don't be nervous, I'm not going to yell at you" he said smiling... "Actually I wanted to talk to you about Jeevika. I think Viren she is having a hard time getting accustomed to your family. Not that they said or did anything, its just that we raised Jeevika very differently. She is an only child and got all the attention from us all the time. I see her trying so hard to fit in your family"
Viren was getting scared by the minute. He knew what he was saying was right. And it was his fault for not allowing Jeevika her space from his family.
j dad - "Even though she was born and brought up here, she's been independent since day 1. She never had an issue traveling alone, or even moving countries to further study. She loves your family and I can see that, but I think you need to give her a little more"
v - "A little more what?"
j dad - "Maybe you guys should think about having a family"
Suddenly a tube light went on in his brain. Was Jeevika pregnant and maybe thats why she was acting strange last night? He didn't know if it was possible or not. He remained silent till he remembered he had to answer back to her dad.
v - "I agree with you, but I don't know if both of us are ready right now to take upon such a huge responsibility"
j dad - "Viren, when we were in USA for your wedding, we saw an entire new side of Jeevika. The way she took care of Veera, the way she loved her and stood by her everyday both her mom and I were somewhat shocked. Never in her life, has Jeevika even taken care of me like that. She looked like a natural mother. And I feel if you guys have a baby, it will only make both of your relationship stronger"
v - "I think so too, but it scares me a little. Taking care of a new life. Giving birth to someone half me and half Jeevika. I just want our baby to come when we feel prepared too"
j dad - "There will never be a time when you're prepared. And sometimes unexpected surprises are better. You two would definitely make amazing parents. Both of you are so down to earth and loving, I don't think Jeevika could have found anyone better" he said praising his son-in-law
Viren felt a little better now after talking to her dad, but he was still petrified whether or not that was the reason Jeevika was behaving strangely. Did she tell her parents beforehand so they could talk to him? Was she really pregnant, or was it something else?
