Part 24

Its engagement day for karan and astha... Shlok has returned home and is much better and recovered well..

Astha gets ready with a beautiful lehnga and jewellery for the engagement..

As diya is preparing her for the engagement astha keeps looking at the mirror... she keeps getting flashes of the attack on the other day and how shlok got stabbed.. then she remembers sarita's words to forgive shlok.. and then all of shloks words in the hospital.. she feels disturbed

" am I being too bad to shlok?? Should I forgive him really??" astha questions herself.. then suddenly she dusts off her thoughts and gets up to go out of the room

She walks out and sees so much all the decorations and arrangements... she keeps thinking and slowly walks out of her room and happens to see shlok

Shlok is struggling with wearing his kurta as lefting his hand is hurting his wounds..

Astha keeps looking at him.. she turns back deciding to walk away.. but her heart doesn't allow her..

She walks into shloks room and holds his kurta from the back..

Shlok is shocked and he sees astha..She slowly lifts his hands and helps him wear the kurta..

She neatens his clothes and shlok smiles and turns back to see in the mirror..

"thanks Shlok.." Astha says

Shlok gets surprised and turns back and sees astha..

"thanks shlok.. what ever u did the other day... I don't know how to..." Astha is fidgety

"Astha.. u are looking so beautiful.." Shlok interrupts.. "astha u must go now.. u have a life waiting for you downstairs.. and for what ever happened the other day.. for all that I have spoiled and messed up in your life. This is nothing in return..." shlok smiles as astha nods and leaves the room

Astha walks out of shloks room and goes into her room.. Karan from a distance sees astha coming out of shloks room and going into hers.. karan has a confused look on his face

Finally its engagement time and diya brings astha down the stairs as karan is waiting in the hall down.. every one is mesmerized by astha's looks and beauty..

She walks down to karan.. diya does their aarti and then bring the engagement rings in a tray

Karan puts the ring in astha's finger smiling at him... then it is astha's turn and she puts the ring in karans finger.. but alas the ring is loose for karan..

Anyways karan smiles and everyone start clapping and come to them to congratulate them..

After the engagement everyone is busy in the party karan is fidgeting with his ring as it is loose... Astha looks at him in irritation..

"why do I feel that this ring is not meant for me?" karan says jokingly..

But astha gets serious as she feels somewhat bad.. she remembers shlok trying it during the purchase..

"hey astha.. I was joking.. we can get this fixed ok.." karan says with a smile and then slowly walks away to talk to his friends..

Astha goes to her mother and holds her hand and shows her the engagement ring and puts her head in her lap and sheds a tear...

Everyone is preparing for the haldi and mehandi ceremony...

Astha is bit upset as she wants her mother to apply the mehandi on her hand first.. but kalindi is not very much in a state of becoming an active part of the celebrations..

Astha goes to her mother and sits near her " mom.. I miss u so much.. I miss the time we used to speand talking with each other and sharing everything with you.. mom ur daughter is getting married in a week.. will u not be the first to apply her mehandi?? Will u not be a part of her wedding?? " Astha sheds a tear and sits near her..

Shlok stands outside and sees the emotional moment between mother and daughter..

Shlok decides to do something..

That evening when everyone is away shlok takes kalindi with him in the car... Kalindi doesn't talk at all.. she is in a state of some kind of shock since her husband was jailed..

Shlok takes her to a doctor friend who is a renowned psychiatrist Dr. Samarjit who has been practicing in US for a long time..

" hi Samar.. this is my friends mom and I wanted to discuss her case with you.."shlok meets the doctor

Shlok tells samar the entire story that happened and the reason behind kalindi's condition..

The doctor examines kalindi and tells shlok

"kalindi is suffering from an emotional trauma which has made her so quiet.. there is something that is unresolved in her mind and is troubling her.. she is scared of something.. we can start her medication soon.. but I feel that the best way to get her out of this is to remove her tension out.."

Shlok walks in the hospital corridor and keeps thinking about what the doctor said and suddenly smiles and gets an idea...

Everyone is sitting in the house.. Shlok brings kalindi in her wheel chair amidst everyone in the hall..

Astha is surprised on this act of shlok.. but shlok just smiles and they all sit and talk and take a look at all the purchases for the wedding like jewellery etc,..

Suddenly the door bell rings.. diya gets up to go and open the door..

Everyone is shocked as they see cops ..

Karan gets up and goes to them as the cops enter the house.. " is there a problem inspector" karan questions

" yes.. this is an arrest warrant against Ms.Astha Kirloskar.. she has been found guilty of carrying drugs" the inspector says.

"what !!! this is all lie" astha is shocked

A lady inspector moves closer to astha.. and grabs her hand and puts the hand cuffs.. Astha is completely shocked and starts to struggle to free her hands..

Another lady inspector holds the other hand of astha as they start taking her out..

All the family members are stunned and they are unable to do anything...

Astha starts crying to seek help.. "karan.. what is this happening.. I dint do anything.."

But karan doesn't help her and the cops keep dragging her out of the door...

Astha keeps asking everyone to help..

Kalindi is sitting in the wheel chair keeps seeing astha being taken away... suddenly tears start flowing out of her eyes and she screams "ASTHA.."

Everyone is shocked.. and the cops stop taking astha and everyone turns around to see kalindi speaking up..

"please don't take her.. she did not do anything.. my husband also did not do anything.." kalindi cries..

Shlok and Karan exchange glances and the cops leave astha's hand...

Astha is confused about what is happening.. she looks at shlok and karan and slowly walks to her mom..

" mom.. u spoke??" she is in tears and yet a smile

" astha..." kalindi and astha hug and cry...

"thank you inspector" shlok and karan say to the cops as the cops leave the house.. diya closes the door

"what the hell is happening" astha gets up and questions.. she is very irritated..

" relax astha I will explain" karan holds astha trying to colsole her

" they were actually fake cops...actually shlok had taken ur mom to a doctor yesterday... aand he said that she is in a state of shock due to some happenings in her life.. one way to get her out of this shock is to recreate a similar scenario and may be she will react .. and that's what we did.. and thankfully we succeeded.." karan says astha

Astha looks at karan with moist eyes and softly says thank you..

"no astha not me.. u need to thank shlok.. it was his idea" karan smiles and says

Astha looks at shlok and lowers her eyes.. unable to say anything to him

" I think we must take kalindi ji to the room.. she should rest.." shlok speaks up before astha..

Karan slowly takes her to the room... and everyone get back to their rooms and work..

Astha sits next to her mom and is happy.. she holds her hands and keeps smiling to herself...

Suddenly she realizes that shlok is trying to correct everything for her that he spoiled..

" should I forgive him??" astha asks herself..

She gets up and goes to her room and as she walks she keeps thinking bout shlok... she goes to his room door.. she is about to knock but she stops herself and goes away to her room..

The next morning is haldi...

Astha is dressed in a beautiful yellow sari and karan in a white sherwani and everyone is very happy

Diya in busy preparing the haldi mixture with sandalwood paste in it...

Diya and friends bring down astha and make her sit on a stool.. and just nearby is karan who is seated for haldi too..

They bring kalindi and she slowly applies haldi to astha's face.. Astha is unable to stop her emotions as that's what she had wanted.. her mother to be a part of her wedding..

Everyone else one by one come and apply haldi to the couple .. all are happy and get playful in the process..

Shlok stands at a distance and watches everything but he doesn't come to astha to put the haldi on her.. he only goes to karan and walks away..

Astha notices shlok walking away and feels bad as she dint even thank him for what he did yesterday for her.. she feels guilty but decides not to do anything and continues with the functions..

After the haldi is all done.. diya asks astha to go for a shower.. all the guests disperse from the house and some go for lunch etc..

The other family emembers begin preparing for mehandi in the later part of the day..

Astha looks around for shlok.. " atleast a thank you should be said" ..

Astha keeps walking around the house looking for shlok as he is not there in his room and anywhere else..

Astha walks back to her room unable to find shlok.. then she sees shlok sitting in the garden all alone.. she decides to shower first but then she thinks she should speak to shlok before he gets away..

So she runs down to the gardent o speak to him..

"shlok.. shlok..." she calls him... he is sitting on the grass and suddenly he turns around in a surprise to see astha calling him..

As astha approaches him.. suddenly her sari gets stuck to a twig and she slips.. Shlok runs and catches her from falling.. and all the haldi from astha's face and clothes gets on shlok as well..

They both hold themselves up .. and astha sees shloks clothes and face full of haldi.. suddenly she feels a sort of guilt and runs away from there without telling anything to shlok..

Astha runs to the house.. karan sees astha running and tries to ask her what happened.. and suddenly shlok comes after her and karan meets him instead.. karan looks at shlok in surprise as to how did he get coloured in haldi..

Shlok doesn't speak to karan and just walks away to his room to change..

Karan has a doubt ...

Finally its here, asusual grt update namrata . Awesome.so its wedding day n next update I feel so sad for shlok , pls unite them n next part. Pls update it soon, cant wait :-) and thanx for d pm :-)

As I was reading and problems were being solved I had a sad feeling that thus might be the last. But glad for the twist...looking fwd to the next part! Xx
