It was the day when every sister demands a gift in-return of the Rakhi she ties to her brother. Yes it was indeed Raksha Bandan! Its not necessary for every brother and sister to share a blood relation! Is it? Nah! A neighbour, a friend, a senior/junior, a stranger or more famous Auto/taxi/bus drivers without a word or even a look turns out to be your brother! [bhaisaab] Isn't it? Recently this whole Rakhi thing has become a trend. And the main execution of this is done in schools and colleges- celebrated and implemented in a grand as well as in a funny way at times! Yes, its funny to see how boys usually avoid this day in fear that their crush or their junior whom they think are hot may end up calling them brothers! So much for heartbreaks and dream-crashes! But if one thinks that only boys go through this hide and seek then they are wrong!!! Because even girls have secret crushes! What would a girl do when her hot and handsome senior walks up to her demanding for a rakhi to be tied? Wouldn't she wish that the earth ate her up live?
But for nandini Raksha Bandan wasn't a trend! It wasn't a game of chasing down her classmates/seniors to tie rakhi! She seriously hate how people at present have taken such an amazing and heart-warming festival for granted! She never had a brother and she sworn she wouldn't just make any random person as her brother as well! He had to be special and she seriously respected and loved -Raksha Bandan. Thus she wasn't in this funny trend called Modern Raksha Bandan!
Nandini smiled seeing kriti tie rakhi to abhi and no sooner kriti started chasing him around demanding for her favourite chocolates! Meghana and nandini were sitting upon desks in the last row and having a fun time watching kriti and abhi chase like tom and jerry.
"you aren't tying him rakhi?" nandini asked meghana out of blue startling the poor soul who was lost admiring abhi. "W*F?" a horrified meghana fell of the desk to the floor with a thud. Nandini burst out laughing seeing her best friend's reaction. "you know.. you must tell him how you feel about him!! Don't be too late.." nandini winked at meghana's embarrassed face. Meghana sighed sitting on the floor leaning on the nearby bench. "may be I should..!" she replied.
When meghana turned around nandini was no-where. Within few seconds she saw yash enter the room. Meghana sighed again thinking nandini might have exited through the back door seeing yash come in to the room!
"instead of clutching that rakhi so tightly and almost killing it, you can tie it to me!" yash said as he stood infront of meghana. Meghana grinned. "ofcourse Arrogant brother!" she said while tying the rakhi. Yash frowned. "I am arrogant?" he asked with a pout.
"Ah that you are! Universally approved!" abhi said walking upto them after handling a huge box of Cadbury celebrations to kriti. Yash frowned deeper expecting kriti to object. "I agree too!" she replied as if it was a matter of fact. Yash showed a fake hurt expression catching his heart. "majority wins bro!! so you are one HELL of an arrogant guy we have ever met!" abhi announced with a salute. Yash glared at him! Abhi, meghana and kriti hi5'ved each other. "yet.. you are our Best friend!" meghana smiled hugging him. Yash handed her a beautiful silver chain with a half heart pendent. Confused meghana looked at him, "I will make sure abhi wears the other half! Perfect couple! Howz that?" yash whispered in her ears and meghana blushed.
"and this is for you!" yash gave a box full chocolates to kriti while going out of the classroom. "why for me? I didn't even a tie a rakhi to you!" kriti joked.
"if you did, I would first murder you and then kill myself!!" yash growled and left. Abhi meghana and kriti stared at each other with a straight face and soon all burst out laughing imagining yash's pale expression!

Nandini was walking alone in the campus immersed in deep thoughts. Finally she was alone! She would have some peace of mind to scold herself for being so weak infront of yash! Just as she had thought that, she heard footsteps behind her and soon a male figure started walking beside! May be she was wrong! And let the peace go to hell now! So much for being alone in this freaking campus! Nandini irritadely looked at Adhish but she forgot herself when glanced a brief look at him! Adhish had always been a senior or a colleague, she never considered him a friend or anything else! So she never got a chance to have a complete look at his features now when she did her tongue was tied and butterflies ran inside her stomach. In black blazer, white coloured shirt perfectly fit to his broad chest muscles, crisp black shoes and gelled hair made her gape at him in shock. Was this the same person she had been working all this while? And she never ever had seen him properly? He was handsome! Well more than handsome actually! Infact yash was nothing compared to his toned body and broad shoulders! Nandini shook her head diverting her thoughts to have some sanity!
Adhish grinned, his effort to look good had finally reached its destination he thought. "so.. didn't find any brothers yet?" adhish asked her.
"no one's that lucky yet!" her nonchalant reply made him chuckle.
"I didn't know one had to be so lucky enough to be your brother!! Wow!"
Nandini grunted "my priorities my wish my life! Do you have any problem?" she retorted irritadely at him.
But there was a grin in his face. Suspicious nandini wondered whether he was planning to be her brother! "OYE!! You aren't that lucky yet! Don't even think of it! My brothers are very very special!!" she said narrowing her eyes at him.
Adhish flinched back! Did she f**king think he wanted to be her brother!? That would be the last thing in this world he expected her to think of. He had already been hiding whole day fearing she might end up tying a rakhi to him! But wow! This innocent girl was too innocent to the real world!!
"are you kidding me? NO WAY!!!! I never want to be that to you pleaseee!!!" adhi blurted with horror. Still recovering from the sudden heart attack she had given him. Nandini raised her eye brows at him. What was he thinking? "i.. I never wanna be that.. I mean c'mon! I have a sister already.. I am happy with her.. I mean.. even you know her.. i.. shit" adhish shut his mouth before he gave any further information that would lead him to his death bed. Directly strangled from the hands of nandini herself!
"OH MY GOD?!!!!" nandini shrieked making him wince. Has she found out already? He wondered. "YOU ARE BLUSHING!!!" she said as if it was the reason why world would end! Adhish released the breath he was holding, but soon bit his tongue. So much for having Fair cheeks!!! Adhish hit his forehead.
Nandini was laughing controllably and adhish kept on ordering her to SHUT THE HELL UP! But nandini wouldn't listen.
"so much for having fair cheeks for a guy isn't it?" nandini asked between her laughs. Adhish sighed "I wont deny that though!"
Adhish looked at the smiling nandini, was she really this innocent or was she acting? He didn't know! Whatever she was, whoever she was she liked her for the just the way she was!
Unknowingly both of them had reached the grounds infront of the new building- Chemistry Research Wing. The base of the building was complete and it would be innaugrated in few days. Nandini sighed seeing the bridge that connected the new building and rest of building in the whole campus. She felt that it was very fresh and shouldn't be used as yet. But who would listen to her? NO One!
"well.. how is your project going on?" adhish asked placing his hands inside his pockets. "by your grace Very well!!!" nandini grinned at him whole heartedly. No matter how much she would deny, the fact that her whole project would be nothing without him! Even though he didn't help her directly, whatever he made her do for his project was actually helping her build her own! Nandini turned back towards the new building. There was a huge pot hole near the building that was filled with muddy water! Some labourer's kids were playing in it as if they were dipping in a pool. Nandini smiled at the happiness those kids bore. "I want it to be the best!" she said out of blue startling adhish and herself.
"what?"
"my project! I want it to be the best. I have never asked you anything other than leave me alone. Today I am asking you. Will you help me? please?" nandini requested looking into his eyes. Before he could reply she continued further "I need to prove something! Please help me with this project!"
Ever since she started assiting him, all he wanted was for her to ask his help herself! He wanted to help her and she wont take it unless she requests for! Ha! The great woman Self respect! So he kept waiting for the day she would ask him herself, and today when she did he didn't know what to say!
"i.. I will... I will help you! We will make this a best project I promise!" he assured her with a broad smile on his face. Nandini turned back to look at the kids.
"I only have one day left to work on this project! Day after tomorrow is the submission, so are you free tomorrow?"
"yes I am.." he replied.
Nandini smiled without looking at him. He too started looking at the direction she was staring at.
"wait.. for the first time we are having a conversation with a fight/argument!" nandini blurted making it sound it like it was biggest crime they commited.
"you act as if I am the one who fights always!" adish folded his hands over his chest.
"that you are!" nandini stated.
"No I am NOT!"
"yes.. you are!!"
"NO!!!"
"Yess!!"
"SHUT UP!" adhish growled at her.
"You SHUT UP!" nandini narrowed her eyes.
"ladies first so YOU SHUT THE HELL UP!!!"
"the same lady is asking you Shut up!"
"gosh! You are impossible!!!!!" adhish shook his head. Would he ever have a conversation with her without a fight?
"nope. I am, I am possible!" nandini grinned and before he could say anything she walked off.
For the first time both felt that they could fight like this for eternity and for some odd reason they felt may be it was the right thing to do!
But what nandini didn't know was her whole life was going to change! This mere day marked something special to her, as well it was going to destroy her life by being one of the darkest days!

and guys.. one hint - All deep thoughts, every feelings has a reason! as they say everything happens for a reason. every thought and every details i have explained in this story has a connection to the final drama.. so now guess.. which is that two big twists?
