Apart from giving beautiful artwork and monuments to India, the Mughals also left their legacy in the food department. A while back, I wanted to learn how to make Jalebi and I did research. I came across the history of Jalebi's which had a slightly different name (I don't recall since it was months ago) and said it was introduced by the Mughals. The Mughals were highly fond of sweets. The were so fond of boiling milk and making sweets or barfi (barf means ice in Persian).Furthermore, they introduced biryani, tandoor, kheer, samosas, kabebs, koftas, rich curries, kormas, sherbert, and kulfi. They were the foundation of Indian kulfi šš¼ and loved to experience with aromatic spices. They also introduced fruits that were indigenous in India (particularly Kasmir), such as peaches, plums, apples, and apricots.Note the Mughal Cuisine is more prevalent in the Northern part of the country (Punjab, Delhi, Hyderbad, etc). However, if one wants to experience the royal cuisine of Mughals then Delhi is the place!Hope you enjoyed this!I love foodā¤ļø

Yes! Halwaa was, roses & everything to do with them. One of my favourite beauty treatments, rose water was introduced too to India by the Mughals in particular Noor Jehan. š
Story goes, that once when she was bathing in her huge pool, which was liberally sprinkled with rose petals & other oils & beauty enhancers; she suddenly noticed a film of oil on top of all her bath water. So she picked some water in her hands & to her shock, it was very very sweet & fragranced with roses! She immdpediately had it all bottled , and was famed for introducing rose water. The Mughals were famous for being madly in love with roses & everything to do with them. Jehangir's favourite itTar was rose oil. š He used to have his clothes & person liberally sprinkled with rose oil.
