I particularly liked this one. It is so perfectly balanced between 3 separate foci of concern: Zaid-Naina-Arjun, Shaleen-the trigger-Sameer, and finally Shaina-Arjun. None of these is given more importance than the other, there is clear forward movement in each, though in different degrees, and some veils are lifted, but tantalisingly and only a bit
.I was pleased that ACP Zaid knows the score vis a vis Arjun quite well by now, and is not given to bravado like Naina, being in fact more or less resigned to never being able to nab Arjun. Which is a major relief! And Arjun's leaving that Batra with a reasonable chance of survival if the police got to him in time shows that at times, he does not mind working within the framework of the law.
The mysterious trigger for Shaleen's terrible anxiety attacks and blackouts remains shrouded in deep, what else, mystery. One thing you have let slip, Kunchu, if that it is not a photo but a single line. As there is no way I can make even a halfway accurate guess, I propose to wait it out!
Finally, the most thrilling part of this chapter is that about Shaina, not just the progress she has made, but about her impending tete a tete with her unknown saviour.I could not believe that he would actually show, if not his face, at least his form, and I was pleased to be proved right! Now she will keep the mobile hidden and use it only for talking to him. But then the real question is this: Why does he want to contact her and for what purpose? Another tantalising mystery. I cannot see this girl, just recovering from the trauma of what happened to her,being of any practical help to Arjun, but one never knows!
Lastly, I was delighted that Arjun was able, thru the sheer terror he induces in that Dr. Batra, to force him to confess about his crimes and those of his co-conspirators at the Life Line hospital . As his wounds do not seem to be so serious,Arjun must have made him collapse thru pure psychological pressure. Most satisfactory. Also the meticulous precision with which every angle is taken care of.
Very nice going, Kunchu.Your only worry right now might be to ensure that the trigger for Shaleen's nerve storms, when it is finally revealed, lives up to our expectations!
