Was hard swiping Pratyusha's memories: Toral Rasputra

Leaps have been an essential part of Indian television and one such leap helped Toral Rasputra live her dream of being the lead of one of the most popular shows on TV, Balika Vadhu.

Toral revealed to TOI, 'I've been watching this show since the last five years and always thought that one day when the serial would take a leap, I would definitely like to play the role. It is not just a saas-bahu show; we deal with a lot of different issues in it. We've tried to show how illiteracy is affecting our society. The show covers a lot of topics including romance, family problems, social issues, etc. So as an actor, I really feel good that I am getting so much of space to explore myself."

Although she came into the scene when Pratyusha Bannerjee had already played the role as senior Anandi, Toral successfully made her mark and came over as the new Anandi.

"Initially, it was hard to swipe away Pratyusha's memories as Anandi from audiences' minds. When I started off Balika Vadhu, Pratyusha's fans did not like me. But I am glad that with time audiences have acknowledged my efforts too and have accepted me as their Anandi. Now when six, seven months have passed I am getting positive response from the audiences," Toral told TOI.

The actress went on to add, "It does take time, but I believe it wasn't something impossible. As the show is there since the past five years, the impact of the show has been really different. People feel connected to the concept of the show and then anybody who comes into the scene has to live up to the show's requirement. They are in love with the character and I have tried my level best to portray it at its best. Maybe this is why we did not lose on the audiences and TRPs."

She also adds, "Besides that, it's been five years to the show and quality is still the same. This is really commendable."

When we asked how easy or difficult it was to play Anandi, she replied, "She is a grateful girl, girl-next-door with traditional values. It was not very difficult for me, since I could connect to her character very well."

Toral who has finally made her space on the show and is happy and comfortable playing the role of Anandi, signs off saying, "Balika Vadhu is my only focus right now and I just want to get better at this."

TFS.

Won't comment on her suitability as replacement, as I believe my opinion of that is already known. But I gotta disagree with what she says about the quality of the show having remained the same over 5 years. One only needs to take a look at the threads on this forum and the flak the CVs are getting to know that the reality is definitely otherwise!

Oh ! She has managed to swipe Pratyusha's memories ??
When did that happen ? I guess I must have been absent there when she flashed her memory-eraser MIB zapper.

I don't think Toral has succeeded in replacing Prats - so to imply that she has managed to erase Prats memories is wishful thinking on her part. But as a replacement it is never easy. I was once a fan of a show where the lead actress was replaced & the next one in had to face a lot of verbal abuse from disgruntled fans. In short: it's bloody hard.

I don't want to comment about the replacement. But the quality of the show remained the same? What a joke?
The show is dead now and everybody knows with many reasons , replacement of the lead is the main one.

To all those who cried their voices hoarse, that they were fed up of seeing the same old crying Pratyusha as Anandi, and were so happy with Toral's portrayal of Anandi and how she has brought a freshness to the role by being cheerful and happy...could you please tell me now, where has all that joy gone, where is all the the happiness, Prats cried because the role demanded it , and now precious Toral will cry for the next 100 episodes because her role will demand it but the difference would be that Prats looked much more endearing crying than Toral would ever look !!!!! I don t think Shiv will bother wiping Torals tears the way he did Prats...P you will always have that special place in our hearts as the lovely Anandi...

They have totally ruined Anandi's character. It doesn't matter who is the actress. A woman who was iconic character to bring change in a village is now a silent victim at her in-laws place. A woman with no voice. She is merely standing with tray and always busy giving milk/food. A girl who taught a village, who brought a change in a village, who fought silently and changed peoples thinking is now just a silly bahu.

Are such interviews needed time and time again?!😡

She thinks she is accepted or has successfully swiped previous one's memories? Sure!🤪

The show gets TRPs due to other characters. Not due to her.

Anandi is no longer the same - be it actor or essence of the character.

And show's quality has gone to pits. It is definitely not what it was like earlier!

It was not like only P fans did not like her. Neutrals and even those who were not regular viewers of the show did not like her in this role. Truth be told! She is getting a positive response now? Good for her wherever she is indeed getting it from.

They need to wake up. They are resorting to cheap drama to keep afloat and stay in top 10 whereas newly started shows on rival channels are now staking claim to #1 slot. Another rival is the most popular costume drama and wins more trophies than BV.

The BV team is living in another world if they think all is well for them and they are going strong.
