It was about "his wife" only when he was newly in love and hadn't yet attained her.
When they married and had HM and all and she was dancing to his tunes - taking his permission for everything and all, he started ignoring her concerns. He felt bad for her only once but never pursued this thought again how weird this alliance will be for her. He wasn't thinking of her when Ira was blasting her, her family, when Sanchi pushed her around and took a dig about "ex husband" and when Ira asked her to choose between Shekhars and Singhs.
Anyway, I don't know what to make of Anandi either. Nowadays she mostly rises to defend Jagya or Singhs and even took their call! (Who'd like their DIL talking to her family when they are in crisis which is in some way a result of relation with that family?)
I would say both Shiv and Anandi have been nearly failures in balancing between both families and both also made blunder in trying to be over-friendly with Anandi's ex husband or listening to stupid cries of Singhs and meddling in his matters! There was no need to do so! Had Anandi politely told DS not to send Jagya to Udaipur to her house and had she not gone to Jetsar herself that much or taken Sanchi along with her then problems wouldn't have escalated to this level.
Anandi shouldn't have been silent or reluctant. She was never clear in talking either to Singhs or Shekhars. If you remain silent or try to serve everyone then no wonder no one is going to think about you and problems that you might be facing!
Anyway, Shiv is justified in thinking about family now. But I wish he had introspected it all instead of squarely blaming one person.
