Part 7

It hadn't been a very special day that day.Arnav was out the whole day and she was stuck on the television.She didn't even know when he came back.It was night.Khushi was thirsty so she got out of bed and went to the kitchen.She had changed into her white salwar.She went to the kitchen and filled up a glass of water and drank it.She put the glass back and headed back towards her room but stopped.In a room beside the kitchen seemed to be having a meeting.There were many voices.All male of course.She even heard Arnav's.Khushi decided to check it out.She walked up to the room.It's door was slightly open.She peeked inside.There was a long table inside with all the men sitting around.Arnav was sitting on the head chair.He was playing around with the diamond shaped paper weight.Beside him was Sam and some other men.

"What are you really planning to do with the girl Panther?" asked Sam leaning back on his chair.

Arnav was twirling the paper weight and stopped it.He shifted his eyes to Sam "Well...I am planning to use her for our purposes...she's very talented and qualified...she can be a great benefit to our gang"

"Oh yeah..how do you know?" said another man.

Arnav stared at him and said "All I can say is that she's better than you" The man looked away.

"But Panther..say we ask her to join our gang and she declines...and maybe even tries to run away" objected Sam.

Arnav leaned back on his leather chair with the paper weight in his hand and raised his feet to the table and said "Simple.Kill her"

Khushi gasped.She took a few steps backwards from the room.She couldn't believe she ever doubted he wasn't Panther.Here he was talking about her death.Her murder.She looked around.Nobody was there.She quickly raced to the door which was easy because she was in her white salwar kameez.She opened the door.Nobody was outside.It was dark outside but Khushi couldn't care any less.Her life was at stake.She didn't know where to go.All she knew was that she had to leave and be anywhere but here.There was a forest.She decided to go through that way as it seemed to be crowded by bushes and trees that if anyone came looking for her from the gang,they wouldn't find her.

The meeting was over.Arnav went to the kitchen and got a glass of water and drank it.He felt oddly strange.He decided to check on Khushi.He walked calmly to her room and opened the door.He looked around.She was nowhere.

He gritted his teeth and yelled "GUARDS!" The guards came running in.Arnav turned to them and asked them "Where's Khushi?She's not in her room.Find her.I am only giving you three minutes" The guards quickly left and began looking for her.After three minutes,they came back empty handed."Where's Khushi?"

The guards looked at each other and mumbled "We don't know"

Arnav remained calm and gave a small smile "Ah...I see..that must mean she has escaped..correct me if I am wrong" The guards slowly nodded ""Hmm...so she escaped...AND WHAT WERE YOU IDIOTS DOING..SLEEPING?THERE ARE SO MANY OF YOU AND ONE OF HER AND YET SHE ESCAPED.I DIDN'T BLOODY KIDNAP HER JUST TO LET HER ESCAPE!NEITHER DID I HIRE GUARDS TO BE PAYED FOR DOING NOTHING! I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU DO OR HOW YOU DO IT..JUST FIND HER! NOW GO!" The guards bumped into each other before dashing for the exit.

Arnav ran a hair through his hair in anger.He couldn't believe she had tried and finally escaped.Everytime he had managed to catch her trying to escape and always fail her tries but this time...she had finally achieved her goal.Arnav knew the guards were idiots so there was a rare chance of them finding her.It was best if he took the case himself.

Khushi gulped in fear as she passed tall dark tree and short but prickly bushes.She knew by now Arnav must've figured out she escaped.She just hoped he wouldn't find her like he always had managed to.'He is the real Panther' thought Khushi 'And here I was thinking there was some big secret behind all of this.I was so wrong.I can't believe he said to kill me if I tried to escape so easily like it was a daily thing for him.To kill people'.Khushi sighed.She was in a mess.The man she loved turned out to be a criminal and kidnapped her.One minute she thinks he is not the real Panther and the next he proves somehow he is the real Panther.Why was he so possessive of her?One second he is saving her and the next he is killing people he probably doesn't even know.One minute he is taking care of her and then next he is giving out orders to kill her if she tries to escape.She just didn't know what to believe.She wished she wasn't in this problem.She wished she never fell in love with him.She wished she never met him.Khushi looked around.It was very dark but the moon light was a guiding light which helped her.She felt cold.Suddenly she heard something or someone.She just heard a stick crack.She turned around.It was a bear.Khushi widened her eyes and mouth and moved back.The bear kept marching towards her.He grabbed her leg with his paw.Khushi screamed in pain as his sharp paw came contact with her leg just a little above her ankle.Khushi fell to the ground and grabbed whatever came into her hand.It was a box of matches and it had two sticks already.Before the bear could attack again,Khushi lit the match making the bear stop.He looked afraid of the fire and ran away.Khushi sighed in relief but immediately winced in pain.Her leg was bleeding badly showing no chance of stopping.Khushi took off her dupatta and wrapped the whole thing around her leg.Her blood make the white dupatta red.Red blood still dripped but since Khushi didn't have anything else she had to live with him.She hobbled on to her feet using the support of the tree and managed to gather a few sticks.She put them together on the ground and lit a match.The fire kept her warm as she fell asleep against the tree.

It was 2:45 in the morning.It was almost about 6 hours since Arnav had begun looking for her.The forest was huge but luckily he knew his way through it.He knew Khushi would try escape through the forest.He knew she would always go through the way least expected.Arnav still hadn't given up on searching for her.He looked through each path determined to find her.Suddenly he saw something bright white.'Khushi' thought Arnav.Arnav went closer and it was indeed Khushi.But he noticed red on her leg.It was obviously blood.Dried up blood.He stood there in shock and wondered how it happend.She was sleeping.The sun was still rising up from the horizon.Arnav picked up Khushi gently and walked his way to the mansion.He wondered if it was the bear who had harmed her.He knew there was only one bear who lived in the forest and he did not like new comers.Arnav cursed the bear under his breath making sure Khushi couldn't hear.It was 3:50 when they had reached the mansion.Everybody was still asleep.Arnav carried Khushi to her room and put her gently on the bed.He took out the first aid kit and tended to her wounds making sure she didn't wake up.Since Khushi was really tired..she was nowhere near waking up.After her wounds being tended to,he left.

It was 10:25 a.m when Khushi woke up.She yawned and opened her eyes slowly getting adjusted to the light.She sighed and she felt the soft mattress below her.She slowly sat up and looked around at her surroundings.She widened her eyes.'How did I get here' thought Khushi 'Was everything a dream?' She looked at her leg.It was wrapped in proper wrapping and looked like it was very well tended too.Khushi sighed frustratedly and hit her head against the head board.She knew he had managed to find her.She should have never stopped.But she was so tired..probably because of her fight with the bear and the loss of her blood.Then she realized it.Arnav had said the previous night that if she tried to escape that she will be killed.She wondered if he would kill her.

"So...I heard she tried to escape last night" said a man standing behind Arnav as he shot bullets at targets.

"She did" said Arnav "But I found her"

Arnav lowered his gun and turned to the man and said "What I do and not do is not any of your concern Anal"

"Don't forget you just said you were my partner in crime.If I am sent to the police,they will ask me who is with me in these crimes and trust me..your name will be first and...I guess you get the picture" Arnav shot back.

Anal glared at him as Arnav resumed his shooting."So are you going to kill the girl"

"I will decide what to do with her but I for sure won't kill her" Anal stared at Arnav and finally Arnav ended "...yet...I kidnapped her and I will decide what will happen"

Khushi knew where Arnav was and had gone outside.She had heard Arnav and Anal's conversation.She clenched her eyes trying to make sure her tears don't show.She headed back inside.There were guards everywhere.At every entrance,watching her.Khushi climbed up the stairs and was about to go to her room but stopped.She decided to stop by Arnav's room to see if she could find anything useful.She entered the room and searched around to see if there was a gun or anything useful.She opened a drawer and saw a mobile.Arnav's mobile.Khushi held the mobile with great care and raced to her room after making sure there were no traces of her coming in his room.She closed the door and locked it.Khushi sat on her bed and pressed a couple of buttons.She held the phone up to her ear.It was ringing."Hello" said another voice.

"Payal" whispered Khushi...
