It was a while before Khushi regained consciousness. She found two apprehnsive faces hovering over her's waiting for her to open her eys. She gave them a faint smile and sat up with much difficulty. It was Arhaan who helped her with it, for Arnav was looking at her bewildered. Ofcourse. He needed answer. She had dropped the bomb of being married on him before everything blacked out.
'Tum theek ho?' he asked.
Khushi nodded.
'What..what did you say? I..mean..we..married?' he queried.
'If you are Arnav aka Arnau, and the woman in this photo is your mother, then yes, we are married. Our's was a child marriage which took place in my home town of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan around 10 years back' she replied.
'Khushi I don't know who I am. I just know that I am Arnav Singh Raizada. That too because my license says so. I ...I don't know if I am the one' he hesitated. Though tempted to agree to whatever she was saying, his heart did not allow him to take advantage of the girl he loved.
'Let us find out then' she said with decisiveness.
'How?' both Arnav and Arhaan said in unsision.
'Dadi said my mystery and life has a key back in Rajasthan and whatever chachu told me also points that out that answes lie their. My answers. And propably your's too' she replied.
'Are you sure?' he asked once again.
'Very. And Arnav I need to know everything which is happening I our life what is the reason behind it' she replied
'But Khushi now Shiktal is gone. He will not return' Arhaan put in his two cents.
'He will return. He will. But when where how, I don't know?' she said thinking.
'But how can we know about our past?' Arnav questioned. The ray of hope he had come looking for in India has finally found him.
'We can know. We can know it from the place where this story started. Where we took birth... Jaisalmer' she explained.
'Are you sure you wanna go there? After all this I mean' Arnav asked apprehensively.
'Yes. And we will take Arhaan there with us too and dadi maa too' she said looking at Arhann who nodded his approval.
'Ok. I will arrange our tickets and make other arrangments as well' Arnav relented.
'Great' Khushi smiled for the first time since regaining consciousness.
Arnav hired a chartered a flight for their journey to Rajasthan. As the flight took off, he took a place near Khushi, who was lost in her thoughts. He had wanted to marry this girl, but turns out she is already his wife. He had found it hard to believe it at first, not that he was unhappy at the revelation, but just hard. Having lived abroad all his life the notion of child marriage was hard to digest. But he just could not ignore the connection her felt with her since the time he had seen her in the temple. And after meeting dadi maa and listening to her, he accepted whole heartedly that Khushi is his wife, and not only that but his other half, his soulmate as well.
Women are more intuitive than men. Thus, Khushi did not hesitate much in accepting Arnav as her husband because her heart, mind and soul said that he is her husband. Add to it the proof that dadi maa attested to it. She was safe in the knowledge that the man she had fallen in love with was indeed her's for next seven lives. The fact that Arnav too had no problems with it, increased her happiness manifolds. She felt some movement near her, and turned her face to inspect. Arnav was making himself comfortable on the seat beside hers. She smiled. At her Husband. And he returned it. Atleast destiny had brought them together.
Her thought invariably went towards Shiktal. She needed to know why he was out for her and her family's life. What have they done? Does he has anything to do with her mysterious powers? Is it why he is destroying everything and everyone who is dear to her? The though chilled her spine. Is Arnav's life in danger because he is her husband? Is she responsible for danger's lurking in his life? She could not even bear the thought. It killed her. She would sacrifice herself before letting any harm come his way. There is no way in the world she would allow any one to harm him.
A warm hand encompassed hers breaking the chain of her thoughts. She looked at Arnav and he smiled reassuringly. 'Don't think too much' he said. We are together and we will take care of everything' he added.
Yeah, she is not alone, she felt instant peace at the thought. Her Arnav is with her now. They will take care of everything.
Amidst glittering golden sand stood the proud rajputana golden city of Jaisalmer. On the far west end of Rajasthan it was as different as it could be form the city of Kolkatta that Khushi had called home till date. As the flight descended on the small airstrip of the arid land of Jaisalmer, three eyes widen in awe of the ariel views of Thar desert and those of dadi maa's teared up in memories. This was real home. She has come home with her children. If only God be kind enough now to return them their happiness as well.
Khushi could not help but compare two places. While Kolkatta was all greenery, here it was vast expanses of sand as far as eye could see. While Kolkatta was bustling with people, Jaisalmer was a quite city. The whether was very different too. There was no humidity here, but warm forceful winds which hit them all in their face as soon as they came out of the chartered aircraft. The language, the accent to airstrip staff was different and so were their style of dressing. Khushi could not believe that she lived so far away and so unaware of her birthland for so long. Arnav on the other hand, was hoping that he belonged here like Khuhi has said, for he was longing to find his identity, his roots, his past.
As their car stopped in front of an opulent brown sandstone kothi, the excitement ended and the hoards of street children running after it returned to their games they were playing before spotting the car. Khushi came out of the car and could not stop herself from noticing the ornate walls, lovely jharokha's, carved heavy wooden gates and... and a feel of home that place brought into her restless heart. She instantly felt like she belonged here. Her memories were failing her to remember this place as home, but her heart was screaming in joy to be here.
'Let's go inside' Arhaan said unloading the luggage from the car with the help of driver.
Arnav who was having similar feelings like that of Khushi just nodded. Khushi lopped her arm into that of dadi maa's and they made their way into the kothi.
The place which had all their answers. The place where it all started. The place where they hoped it will all end.
