I feel really lucky to be part of TBP team! ' Fahad Ali

The very good looking and immensely popular Fahad Ali, who is better known as KD' from Channel V's The Buddy Project, gets candid with urlremoved about his experience on the show, and lots more!

Tell us about yourself?

I am a nice and simple guy from Dehradhun, who came to Mumbai a few years ago to fulfill his dream of becoming an actor!

What made you choose a career in acting?

Well, I would participate in a lot of plays and dramas in school, as well as took part in a lot of fashion shows post that in Dehradhun only, which motivated me to go a step forward and get into acting, as I really enjoyed doing that. After winning a title on one of the ramp shows, I decided to come to Mumbai and try and pursue my career in acting, and so when I came here, I just happened to get lucky with a show called Smile Please' on Life Ok, a pretty good Nokia ad and then a cameo in Balika Vadhu, after having given a lot of auditions though!

What challenges have you had to face in your acting career?

I remember my initial days in Mumbai very well, when I was new here and didn't know anyone at all who would really help me out with this field, and so I would just stand in a line with 100 other people who were waiting just like me, to give that audition! Oh it was really a task and something I will never forget my entire life, as I must have given around 50-100 auditions or even more maybe, in the beginning. Also, there is a lot of competition here as everybody knows, because there are tons of people who enter this field every single day, looking to become popular and famous, which of course increases the competition day by day! So yes it was a tough start, with a lot of challenges having been faced.

How did the offer of The Buddy Project come to you?

So, once I was done with these ads and cameo's, I decided to focus some more on theater and took part in a few plays here in Mumbai, and then one day it so happened that a friend of mine was going over to Sunshine Productions for an audition for a daily show and was insisting that I just come along, but since I wasn't really interested in daily shows I first refused, but we were going for a movie after that so I just decided to go along, and when we reached there, Reema who is my creative director, saw me and asked me to just give an audition which I really didn't want to but I did, and they happened to really like me, and now here I am on the show!

How does it feel to be part of The Buddy Project team?

I feel really lucky to part of The Buddy Project team! According to me, one would rarely find a team like this because we all are really really close and bond very well, and so it is like one big family now! Everyone is very supportive of each other and so all the co-stars as well as the production and creatives team get along pretty well and so we all eat our lunch and dinner together, indulge in cake cuttings when it is somebody's birthday, celebrate festivals and have a lot of fun on set everyday!! The environment at Sunshine Productions is awesome and I am just loving every single day over here! Also, the plus point our show has is that it is a youth oriented show which doesn't have any sort of crying and drama like the daily soaps have, which is obviously working very well for us, as school and college fun is of course loved by everyone, which has been a big boon for us and is awesome!

Who is your favourite person from the The Buddy Project cast?

Well, everybody from the cast is really nice and luckily we all bond pretty well and so every day on set is always a lot of fun! But yes I have to say that I am very fond of Manav sir, who is just a great guy and a very very nice person!

How has it been working with Manav Gohil who is the eldest and most experienced actor on the show?

It has truly been a wonderful experience working with Manav sir till now, and he is someone I really look up to! Manav sir has always helped us all in terms of getting our dialogues and expressions right, how we can improve ourselves, and becoming a good actor overall! We have learnt something or the other from him which has truly benefited us!

KD and Kiya are now one of the most popular faces and couple from all the Channel V shows, so how does it feel and what is your rapport like with Bharati?

It feels awesome to know that people love Kiya and KD so much, and the fan reactions are just overwhelming! I remember the time, I guess a few months after the show came on air, when Bharati and I were in the middle of a shot, our producer came by, waited till the shot got over and congratulated us because the show was on top and KD and Kiya were one of the most loved pairs on screen! I was on cloud 9 after hearing that and it was the best feeling in the world! Also, Bharati is a wonderful person and a really nice and sweet girl who has always cooperated with everything required for the show. It's been great working with her and we are really good friends now, since I literally have every second scene being shot with her, and so we do bond pretty well!

Any special fan moments on or off set?

The Buddy Project having been on air now since more than a year now, has acquired a very large and pretty good fan following, and so we pretty much have fans coming onto the set every day to meet us, which is very sweet! These guys are so awesome and very loyal to the show and the cast, which feels just great! Also, I would like to mention this particular fan's name Piyu, who has right from the beginning loved and supported us as well as the show, and this girl is an amazing editor who has a collection of our pictures and videos which she made wonderful edits off, which we all have seen and just love them! She had come in a few months ago to the set as well, to meet us all on the Buddy Project anniversary, with tons of letters and gifts from other fans too, which was very touching for us all. So yes, I will always remember these few special moments.

How does your family feel watching you become so popular on TV day by day?

At home, I am the only son with 3 younger sisters, so my family does miss me a lot back in Dehradhun, but they are all very very happy to see my success on screen and watch the show as well the repeats too every single day, which really motivates me to do even better which would surely make them very happy! Also, my mother was in Mumbai last week for my birthday and so she had come to the set to visit me, and watching her sit next to the director of our show to see my shot, was a very emotional as well as proud moment for me!

Rapid Fire :

What is your typical day like?

I get up early and indulge in some exercising before heading off to a long day's shoot, get back home in the night, watch a good TV show which is Homeland' currently and then just sleep!

Food you like to eat?

Rajma-Chaval with curd and Keema Roti are my favourite dishes.

Irrfan Khan!

Favorite Bollywood Actress?

Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra and Vidya Balan.
