Shirish's Ungliyan out of 'Ungli'

Shirish Kunder is certainly not going through the best phase of his life. First, Sajid Nadiadwala took over the reigns of Salman Khan's ' Kick' from him, and recently it was reported the editing of Karan Johar's 'Ungli' has also slipped out of his hands. KJo decided to replace Shirish with his 'My Name Is Khan' and 'Student Of The Year' editor Deepa Bhatia over some 'creative differences'.

Apparently, things were proceeding at snail's pace on the editing table and KJo and director Rensil D'Silva had no other option but to look for a replacement. However, TOI has learnt that it was Shirish who decided to call it quits.

Ungli, starring Sanjay Dutt, Emraan Hashmi and Kangna Ranaut, has already hit enough roadblocks. First it was the arrest of Sanjay and then the music composer duo Salim-Suleiman walked out of the project. All these delayed the project and Shirish eventually decided to leave.
"Kunder realised that he had consumed the time he had assigned to the film. He worked till July and then had a word with Renzil and KJo," a source close to the project said. Shirish is now busy with two projects"one he intends to produce and the other he will direct.

"Parts of Shirish work will have to be re-edited as he had not edited in the right sequence, especially the songs and a few scenes featuring Dutt. However, he and Deepa will share the credits in the titles, the source added "
