Why is Agni lame from one leg?

I think Agni's wicked mother😈 is responsible for his being handicapped too, it bothers me all the time why is he lame,it gives me pain , though i admit the fact tat it is the uniqueness of his role but i want to know the reason behind it and if rajlaxmi😈 is reponsible than why she had taken this drastic step?😈
