Durgesh Nandini is Bankim Chandra Chatterjee's first Bengali Novel published in 1865. It created uproar then because it had a Bengali woman marrying a Rajput guy.
The TV show is just loosely based on the actual novel. Still they have credited the author in all the interviews and articles.
