And anyway, Ruq was out of absolute power within the Haram by the time Meherunissa became Jehangir's 20th wife but his one true Beloved. Ruqaiyya Begum had seen more than enough & done more than enough to resent Noorjehan for taking away Hoshiyaar.

She had enough power & wealth & an enviable position within the Haram even if she wasn't Padshah Begum at that point.

I think the evidence points towards this new Dai Amma or Adham Khan or Resham who procured it from somewhere. I doubt if Hoshiyaar would do this to Ruqaiyya. He seems very fond of her. God knows why seeing how she treats him 😆

Thanks for the interesting info!
Yes, I did read that Mehrunnisa worked as Ruq's lady in waiting for a few years, and that was how Jahangir saw and fell in love with her. However, I did not know that they were friends.
I read a historical novel once on Mehrunnisa in which Ruq was outwardly friendly with Mehrunnisa but inwardly jealous of the power she held over Jahangir.
I also read somewhere that Jahangir's third wife, Jagat Gosain, who was the mother of Khurram/Shah Jahan (also referred to as the actual Jodha Bai in historical records) was his favorite wife and also had the most influence in his harem until Nur Jahan. Jagat Gosain did not have good relations with Ruqaiya since she was a Hindu Princess and Ruqaiya was a staunch Muslim. It is said that Ruqaiya used Mehrunnisa to regain control of the harem and take power away from Jagat Gosain.

Who knows the absolutely truth? LOL
But the truth is that Hoshiyar is very much a historical character and played an important role during wars twice in his lifetime. CVs cannot kill him off!

Yes even I read that Ruq used Nissa to snatch away all power from Jagat Gosain.. But Jagat Gosain seemed like a highly un-pleasant woman from the way she's portrayed! Beautiful, but frustratingly insecure.. Our Jodha is nothing of the sort & so I am retreating into my dream-land & not taking Jagat Gosain as my Jodha! (Though its highly likely she could be the/one of the Jodha's)
