I actually want to applaud the makers for showing it as it is, and not just simply overlook the fact that he had a lot of wives, and concubines (As the movie did), just to romanticize the love story of Jodha-Akbar a bit more.

It doesn't bother me at all because the makers have always stressed on the fact that although he may have a lot of wives, he hasn't experienced true love until marrying Jodha.

I totally agree with your views. But this srory unveils in 16th centuary where women are looked upon as mere objects in royal families and exchanged for power. Marriage is a mere political arrangement and to have children. King not necessarily sleeps with all the women in his mahal and often many stay in the palace as artifacts, symbol of his conquest longing for king's attention, if not his love. Though sounds weird, king sleeps with anyone and everyone of his choice. May be we have to look beyond physical intimacy to understand jalaal's love...!!! Still i know it is irritating to watch. And i dont think this is an epic love story but jodha holds a special place itn Akbar's life. Thanks to "Cv's they are showing the history with some drama than a romantic tale

many are sailing in the same boat as you!
Our main problem as viewers is we look at this historic show with the mind set of the 21st century! Many things seem to be very difficult to digest like cutting off a poor man's limbs just because he stole Jalal's shoes, chopping of the heads of kings / princes when they die in a war and sent it to their families! ...etc.

Initially even i found it hard to accept the polygamy concept ... it was quite a shock to see Jalal getting married to the wife of his 'khan baba' just to secure her life and her son's! But that's how they lived back then, women were not given much freedom, respect and were mostly treated as trophies!

I guess that's the reason after Lavina started to play Rukhaya CVs made her character very dark and shallow ... just to make the audience root for JA!!
