Birthday blues

Sanjeev Mehra's supposed farewell party on the sets of Left Right Left turned out to be a surprise welcome bash instead

A still from Left Right Left
Sanjeev Mehra (Surijee of Left Right Left) is well-known for bringing an amiable atmosphere on the sets of the show. Thanks to Sanjeev, the frequent fights on the sets of LRL stopped after he started having barbeque parties while shooting so that the unit members could have a good time while working together. As a token of thanks, the unit members decided to pull a prank on him.

According to the prank, the director of LRL, Anshuman Singh suddenly informed Sanjeev that his track was going to end. Sanjeev was upset as he was not informed beforehand and tried to reason with the production members. Sanjeev was dejected and decided to leave for Australia where he runs a restaurant.

Says Sanjeev, "I was shooting an action sequence where I had to be beaten by some hooligans. But, suddenly Anshuman told me that my character would be stabbed and dies in a pool of blood. I was initially okay with the concept as I assumed that the story might be taking a different turn. But after I finished the scene, the director told me that my track has ended there. My hopes were completely shattered."

The unit members then told Sanjeev that they will give him a farewell party on his birthday on January 31.

But, the result was something different. Sanjeev explains, "I reached the sets for my farewell party. That's when I realised that the crew members had pulled a prank. They all wanted to give me a big surprise and I was pleasantly surprised to know that I am very much a part of the show."
