CHAPTER : 4 : SHIP-WRECKED !!!!!!!
Please baccha , for Mamma ... , Manyata begged Udita , but the child only giggled each time her mother showed her how to blow. One last time Mamma will show you ... then your turn! Manyata brought her lips together to form an "O" and "exhaled" air through her mouth. This time ; along with Udita ... Uday laughed.
Oi - tu has mat! she scolded Uday. Princess - if u carry on doing stupid things ; then I'm gonna laugh! It's not "stupid" - okay! Tomorrow morning , we'll be back in Mumbai ... tomorrow night I want to have a small , 1st birthday party , for my Princess. So , I'm teaching her how to blow out her candle.
Oho Princess - itni si baath! Uday took out a box of matches and struck 1 match. He held the flaming match in front of Udita : Baccha - save Paapa or Paapa will get burnt. Udita stared at the match but didn't do anything. Manyata tried next : Princess - Paapa ka ungli jal jayega ... Mamma taught u na ; U blow off the flame. The flame had eaten away most of the stick and Uday was now holding it at the tip ... when ... Udita blew it off. "Good girl" , both parents said at once and clapped for her. Goo Gal , she repeated and clapped for herself , making her parents very proud.
Ouch! , Manyata held her stomach. Uday looked worriedly at her , and came closer to her : Everything okay , Princess? , he queried. She quickly took his hand and placed it on her stomach , then he felt it too. Is that ...? Yes Uday! That's our Baby ... he's kicking! , she exclaimed excitedly. Uday was overwhelmed with emotion and just held Manyata in his arms. Tears of joy were brimming in his eyes , he thanked his lucky stars that he's getting to relive all those special moments that he missed out on when Manyata was pregnant with Udita.
Princess - I'm NOW convinced! Of what? That we're having a boy and I didn't make a mistake in keeping HIS name. So , what has convinced you? The boy is kicking as if he's playing FOOTBALL in there! Manyata giggled and pinched Uday's cheek : Your daughter kicked harder than this!

Dad u got to see this one! , Unnati called out to Giriraj, who quickly came to view the photo in the monitor. Awww , that's adorable - look at how scared our Udita is of the magicians. Dad - check this ... look how she shut her eyes , when the snake-charmers were doing their act. Where was that? Marakech in Morocco , Unnati answered .
Giriraj returned to his work , whilst Unnati continued glancing at the photos , her brother sent her via e-mail. Oh my God! , she suddenly exclaimed and covered her mouth with her hand. Bhabhisa' is pregnant , she said very softly; then began wondering : Howcome Dada didn't say so? She looked at the photo once more ... Perhaps Bhabhisa' just put on weight , ya ... THAT'S PROBABLY IT! , she convinced herself.

U did what? , Manyata asked with hands on her hips. Chotti asked to see our photo-graphs - so ; I mailed it to her! How could you , Uday ; you should've asked me f-i-r-s-t , she complained as she punched his arm and finally began crying. Uday was beyond confused as to what wrong he did and placed his hand on her shoulder to console her. She flung it off : I wanted to see their reactions - when I tell them I'm pregnant. I wanted to see Baba's and Unnati's faces , when they see how big I'm gone. But now they've already seen it in the photos and I missed their expressions , she cried even louder.
Uday tried to suppress his laughter. He held Manyata to his chest : Don't worry Princess ... when u get pregnant after this one , then after that one , then after those 2 ... U CAN CHECK THEIR REACTIONS. Afterall , we have 8 more coming after Viraat! Halkat, Vede , yede ... if u think I'm gonna let u near me after Viraat is born - then U got another thing coming , she announced. Princess - that sounded like a threat ... I DON'T LIKE THREATS! , he lifted her in his arms and took her to bed ... completely ignoring Manyata's warnings and kicks .
Unaware to the couple , a storm was nearing them. Loud , loving , satisfied moans filled the cabin ; so much so , that the climatic changes from outside , failed to make it to their ears. Uday was aware that a tropical-storm was brewing in the skies over the Indian Ocean , but the tempest was only supposed to hit , a day after tomorrow ... as in , a day after they'd be back home.
Bolts of lightning cracked through the night skies , and an angry roar of thunder followed. But the thunder was still very much in the distance, so it's impact never became known to Manveer. The still , calm waters were becoming vicious. The now-ferocious waves , crashed against the hull of the yacht , indicating a change in tide.
Manveer were exhausted after the intense love-making session and soon fell very fast asleep , in each other's arms. Due to the high-tide ... the course that the boat was supposed to take ... CHANGED! The yacht was now , moving towards the storm ... instead of away from it. The final destination of Mumbai , was becoming more & more DISTANT!

What! , DS exclaimed with utter shock. Haan MaaSahib ... Jai just told me over the phone , Komal replied. But I just don't understand why! Why did she and Jaggat elope , when everyone gave the couple their blessings for their marriage? , questioned Brijraj. She just said that they both preferred a small , intimate ceremony and she was not comfortable with the large celebrations , that we were planning ! All 3 could only shake their heads in disbelief , as somewhere ... Jai and Jaggat circled the holy fire - taking their wedding-vows ... in front of the only guest there - GOD!

"BOOM" , a loud sound from outside , disturbed Manveer from their slumber. Uday quickly dressed and went up on deck to see where the sound originated. The thunder-&-lightning part of the storm , was over ... but the damage was already done! Lightning had struck the sail earlier on ... and the mast was threatening to fall any minute. It was already dangling by a thread and was making a loud "BOOM" noise , every time the gale-force winds blew against it.
SHIT!, Uday cursed as he saw the condition outside. The torrential rain hammered down with so much force , that the boat was now tilting to 1 side. Uday saw that if the mast were to fall , it would fall on top of the life-raft ... which was their only hope for survival right now ; as very shortly , their yacht was going to be a write-off.
He battled undoing the large reef-knots from the rope that fastened the raft to the yacht. Time was running out and too much time was being spent on 1 knot. He moved over to the next , but there were at least 5 to untangle. There was a loud creaking sound and the mast was about to fall on top of him and the raft. The sight of the mast falling , froze Uday to 1 spot ... making him wait for the inevitable.
In a swift motion , Manyata grabbed his arm and pulled him out of harm's way: What's wrong with you Uday? Didn't u see that THING coming down on you? Why didn't u move? Why were u standing like a statue? , Manyata trailed off but Uday didn't hear a word. Millions of questions were roaming around in his mind ... but not 1 question ; had an answer. Manyata saw the worry on his face and pulled him into the enclosed area of the yacht.
I've never, EVER seen u like this - You're scaring me! Talk to me Uday. He clenched his fingers into a fist and punched it into the wooden panels : THIS was not supposed to happen ... it wasn't supposed to end like this! Continuously , he pounded his fist into the wood. Angrily Manyata pulled him away and shouted : STOP IT UDAY; and would u please say CLEARLY WHAT'S going on?
Princess - the mast fell ... the sail is damaged ... it won't be long before the "roof" caves in ... then rain will enter ... the boat will fill with water and sink. We have moved further into the Indian Ocean - our only means of getting home was the life-raft , but that's destroyed now. Manyata held him by the shoulders and shook him: Are u saying , we're going to die? Before he could answer , Udita began crying and Manyata ran to get her. She passed the baby to Uday and started to radio in for help. Unfortunately , due to the storm ... there was NO SIGNAL. Next she took her cell , but again ... there was NO CONNECTION.
Manyata was starting to have a panic-attack , and Uday had to come out of his momentary depression ; and take charge of the situation. He held her and kissed her on her fore-head : Princess - we have to swim! Manyata looked at him with pleading , teary eyes and shook her head in a "NO" . Princess - you always tell me ; you're stronger than what I give u credit for ... Don't u want to prove it to me? She put her hand over her stomach : And Viraat? Tears were even beginning to brim in Uday's eyes ... If we're meant to have him - THEN HE'LL BE JUST FINE!
Udita? Uday - u know she doesn't like getting her feet wet and she especially dislikes cold-water ... how are we going to get HER to safety? You don't worry Princess - I've got her! I don't like this Uday , she sobbed. Neither do I ... he ran his fingers through his wet hair , and took a deep breath : ... but we got NO OTHER CHOICE Princess. Now let's get moving! We haven't got time to waste!
Manyata changed into a navy track-suit , whilst Uday tried 1 final time to SOS for help. It was a futile attempt though! Udita remained calm in Uday's arms , whilst he looked through the binoculars and studied the compass. He pointed out a direction and announced : That's GOA , that's the closest LAND. We need to go in that direction. Manyata nodded as she helped him button his shirt , because Udita refused to let go of her father. Next , Manyata strapped the Baby onto Uday's chest. Is it too tight? No - it's fine. Tears flowed continuously down her cheeks ... Promise me - you BOTH will come back to me. Uday raised her chin , and she looked into his eyes : I promise! She pulled out the amulet that Roopa Aunty tied on her arm and tied it onto Uday's : God will keep you BOTH safe! , she kissed Udita and was about to kiss Uday , when ; ... Pihu! , Udita called out. The child wanted her beloved teddy , PINKOO , with her. She had realised that they were going somewhere ... and there was no way , she was leaving her teddy behind. Baby , Paapa will get you another one , okay? , Manyata told but Udita was adamant and kept calling out for Pihu! Princess - bring it for her. But how will you manage? Uday gave her a reassuring smile.
Manyata fitted the bear into the carrier that was holding Udita. The child was thrilled to have her "friend" with her and kept touching its paws. U ready?, Uday asked and Manyata nodded. I love you. I love you too , Princess; now raise your hands. She did as she was told and Uday fastened a FLOATING RING around her waist : It'll keep your head above water! Due to the weight of the mast , the roof caved in ... interrupting Manveer's final kiss - goodbye. Both jumped into the icy-water thereafter!
Udita screamed the moment she got wet ; and cried all the time that they remained in the water. Uday had told Manyata not to wait for them and to swim ahead, as he'd be weighed down by the Baby. He swam awkwardly doing the back-stroke , just so ; Udita's breathing won't be hampered. Uday eventually lost sight of Manyata ... but his only concern was his daughter. Hours passed by in the water, he was exhausted ; battling to swim against the current. Day broke ... and Uday had somewhere - LOST CONSCIOUSNESS.
When he opened his eyes , he was on land. He had no idea how he was washed ashore , but was grateful for it. Udita was not moving , neither was she breathing. Uday unstrapped the carrier and laid her on the sand and began performing CPR on her. Come on Sweet-heart ... u gotta breathe for Paapa , he kept saying after blowing into her mouth and pumping her chest.
A group of people gathered around Uday , when they saw what was happening . Come on Baccha ... your Paapa is dying to hear your voice. Please Baby - please breathe ... DAMMIT - I can't lose you! , he screamed loudly and pressed against her sternum , but there was no sign of life in the child. The area around her mouth was blackish and her face and body was turning blue. Despite this , Uday continued administering CPR. A bystander came up to him and tapped his shoulder : Bhaiyya , SHE'S GONE! He clutched the child to his chest , tears flowed down his face - NO - you can't leave me!!!!!!!!
