OMAR ABDULLAH
I have seen most of the episodes of Big Brother. The show is all about crying, fights, one housemate cornering the other and similar things. I haven't seen Shilpa Shetty handle herself well. She should have been prepared for this. She has been paid a good sum to be there, then why crib? I feel that she needs to be consistent with her opinions. First she said that racial discrimination was taking place against her and later she said that it wasn't. She needs to make up her mind first. India is not one of the most tolerant countries — it shows when emphasis is paid on selling fairness cream for men and women both. I think the whole issue has been blown out of proportion. The channel got a bad name and great TRP ratings. India never knew what a Big Brother show was all about, but now they know it better than any Indian soap.

This episode shows that the world has evolved only on the surface. Shilpa doesn't have a choice and is handling it like a pro. I am sure she didn't expect all this She is doing a good job there and she should carry on the same way.

Hats off to Shilpa for handling herself so well. I have high regards for her after seeing the way she has coped on the show. As far as racism is concerned, whenever I have been to London I have felt it myself. You can get those vibes from most of the local people there. I would rather live in the US, but never in UK.

Though I haven't seen
Big Brother
but, from what I have read in the newspapers I think Shilpa's doing great. To hang in there and face the animosity with such grace is commendable. What bothers me at the end of the day is that one should not forget that it is just a game. And it is getting so much coverage makes one wonder whether it is all about the TRP ratings.

Racism needs to be condoned everywhere, whether in India, Britain or Australia. As we talk about the incidents in other countries, we also need to stop seeking approval from Caucasian people, stop putting them in the ads so that people get influenced by them. In India we have to put an end to calling people goras or kalas. The mind set of the people undergo a change.
